As a young lad i turned into a decent angler .. anyway due to ending up playing sports at a decent level fishing took a back burner and due to other circumstances it stayed there until this year 25yrs plus later. Commercial fisheries weren't really a thing back then and poles were very expensive and rubbish .. so i had a look at commerial fisheries and match fishing and as it turns out i'm not s*** so i'm gonna have a crack at it next year as i seem to be able to still bag up and now i've caught up a tad i'm gonna have a good crack at it. Thanks for reminding me that i actually can catch fish and especially for the tips especially on pole fishing and rigs and loads of other stuff tbf. If you are ever fishing The Riddings drop me a line and i'll come and return the favour. See you in the bank brother. 👍🤘🤘🤘

I reckon matt had a dictaphone recording so he can take baggers tips to bankside. The concentration on matts face was a picture. Good pod cast lads. Can't wait for the next one 👍🏻

Most interesting fishing podcast I have watched.
Eye opening that these top match anglers work together. Share methods between them, and share the prize monies between them.
When you watch these matches on live feeds. You are given the impression that they are competing against each other. This podcast dispels some of that notion.
Not great for other competitors to find out they are fishing against a collective of anglers and not individuals.
Is this the extra 5% that they achieve above other top anglers?
If anything. It shows how these people are able to do this full time. They are getting income from most matches, even if they don't win.
Obviously it doesn't affect me, but I would feel cheated if I were competing against this set up.
We are all lead to believe that skill sets these anglers apart. Maybe it's not as transparent as that.
It is akin to creating a premier league of competition anglers. They are stacking these events in their favour, and keeping the big money for a selective group.
Their sponsors also benefit from this, so they cover a lot of these anglers costs. Every item of tackle that you buy. Some of it ends up in the pockets of these guys.
To be honest. I am quite disgusted that these guys have done this to the sport. I feel sorry for all those other anglers who paid in money to compete in competitions that are stacked against them.

That was brilliant that. You’re absolutely mega at what you do mate and how honest you are. If I can afford it, I’d try and get some coaching 😅
Trying different hook baits, having the confidence to swap tactics and timing etc… is what makes a top angler.

    My sincerest condolences, Andy.
We had to put our old friend to sleep last Friday when his back legs gave. At sixteen and a half, he'd had a good run, but I don't think he ever recovered from the loss of his brother, last year.
