My mother tongue is Tamil
I studied in Tamil medium till class 7
when my father decided to put me in English medium with Hindi as the optional language
His reason was that as he was in a transferable job this would help continuity in my education
What I have learnt now is that if I make mistakes in Tamil I don't get ridiculed
If I make mistakes in English , accent wrong or pronunciation wrong Americans or the English
don't laugh or smirk

A Doctor from Punjab knows Punjabi, Hindi & English so he can efficiently work in Punjab & nearby states.
A doctor from Tamil Nadu knows only English & Tamil so he's restricted to Tamil Nadu & some English speaking spots. Because in Kerala, Andhra or Karnataka don't understand Tamil & not everyone speaks English.

Being an army father's kid, I lived allover India I am pretty good at 7 regional languages. I started my career in one of the MNC in pune and lived with 6 girls in an 3bhk apartment. And all of them are from different parts of karnataka. There was one girl who couldn't speak hindi. Once we planned to go site seeing and we gave her to task to book a cab and I was with her when she called the cab guy, she tried to speak in hindi "anna athey ho kya" with straight face and next thing she said had me rolling on middle of the road "aapka rate kitna hain" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 and that was just a start of our own stand up comedian living with us.

Hi brother i am from coimbatore and i am staying in North India for a long period of time. I saw your video and it spreads a information that generally Tamilians doesn't know to converse in hindi.
We are not able to speak hindi fluently like other state guys only because of politicians. Other state people did not face this kind of issue. People decide or judge about something only because of a viral video or hearing from someone. In this case, ask yourself what your video gives a general image about a Tamilian.
There are many Tamilians who are conversing in hindi better than rest of the people. Better post a video which can wipe out this false image or stop making videos like this.

I did my engineering from NIT Trichy and miss my Tamilian friends a lot.
One of them took me to a cinema in Trichy. It was a Tamil film. My friend knew Tamil and English. So , he started translaring dialogues in English for me. I was laughing at a joke and by then the scene had changed. Hero was being mistreated. And I was still laughing. Both of us had to face the wrath of the audience. We vanished to save our souls.

Dravidian languages are way more complex than Hindi.
At least that’s my feeling. I am Mexican and Hindi is much easier.
I find Malayalam to be the hardest language to learn.

I am not indian but have lived for over 13 years the Indian culture very closely.
And at the end of the day I have children who are half indian so that’s the reason I have even more interest. And I am the first to agree on whites always telling their share of the story as per their convenience.

Except for the small town chennai joke, it wasn’t so great. These north indian vs south indian stand ups are very pretentious, there is a very weird portrayal of humour which most of the south indians cant relate. You may say that its from a north indian perspective but dude these just suck really bad. North indians are portrayed as these ignorant conceited bunch often not aware of south india at all.
That's true, bro. When you're in silicon valley in Karnataka, learning Kannada is not your primary goal. Exactly the same way, when a Kannadiga is in Tamil Nadu, learning Tamil shouldn't be made mandatory. If we understand this, then language can't divide us. :)

Nope, learning Kannada should be made compulsory in Bengaluru. I'm a Tamil, I lived in Bengaluru for just 3 years. But I learnt to read and write in Kannada even before I moved there. I thought I could learn to speak Kannada soon after I move to the city. But to my surprise, no one in the IT companies speak Kannada there. Hindi became the second business language next to English. I instead learnt to speak Hindi while I lived in Bengaluru. Whenever I tried to speak Kannada to cab drivers, or shop keepers, they automatically switch to Hindi (I think they assumed I'm a North Indian as I am fair skinned). This needs to be changed. We need to encourage the new Bengalurians to learn Kannada. Or else, Bengaluru will soon become Mumbai where Hindi is made a lingua franca irreplaceably instead of Marathi.

Iam of the opinion that you should definitely learn the language of the state where you settle down.Kannada is very easy to learn.being a Tamilian I stayed in Kadugodi when I worked in Bangalore.i learnt kannada fast and was happy to converse with locals there.they too were happy to teach me.Our country is such a diverse Country.A Bangalorean easily speaks tamil,Telugu,kannada and hindi fluently.I appreciate them!

I know a lot of South Indian people working in North and trying to learn Hindi to communicate and feel belonged here. We try our best to communicate in English. I'm not sure how many of us would dare to learn the South Indian languages. So, hats off to you for this spirit!

This is the beauty of our country....land of unending diversity and yet united🇮🇳💪.... every state has its own language...even the states where hindi is spoken,they also have their own local languages.....for example I'm from bihar and besides hindi, maithili, bhojpuri and some other languages are also spoken!!...we have different customs in every different state. And when these customs and cultures combine we get the best output and probably that's why indian civilization is the best!!.... Proud of my country and our cultures!

I am a Tamilian born and brought up in Mumbai . So, obviously I know Hindi and Marathi. I am currently working from home in an IT company and my work colleagues would communicate in Hindi among themselves during calls thinking that I don't know Hindi. But I understand their whole conversation and I still haven't said to them that I know Hindi. 😉

Also I would like to tell you hindi is no one's mother tongue it's like a common national language which we should use instead of a foreign language like English. Every state has its own regional language be it punjab bengal bihar odissa UP all have there own native languages and many languages which we all talk in our homes but when we meet people from other states we talk in hindi so that others can understand but don't do that english wala drama like this 3rd grade person navin is doing . I respect all religion and culture of India but hate those particular person who think a foreign language should be our national language.

I work in a mnc one of big four , we talk in hindi only with indians English every one use when doing something formal or talking to a international client. People from Bengal Bihar punjab and north east state don't speak in there regional language with people of the same state they use hindi but south indian people speak Kannad or tamil with there own people in office where sometimes group discussion is going on and after that they switch to English . This is weird.

I'm a South Indian and tamilian but I would say how deep it hurts to see how these cheap channels and many anti national elements divide my country India into north and south these regional political leaders and youtube channels have sowed hatred for north indians among south indians and wrong notion about them and have created an imaginary divide between both regional people and false linguistic pride just for the political gains and many south indians have fallen for it remember this same divide among ourselves was the reason for foreign invaders invading our country and our wealth the same now they are doing in the name of regionalism with help of regional political leaders ...when will we southindians understand until only when we stand as indians we can breathe free air and freedom but when we divide we will be under invasion and oppression best example is Kashmir and some parts of West Bengal and kerala and Assam when we will all unite as indians and be more patriotic towards mother India

Many North Indian people just force South Indians to speak in Hindi... North Indian companies and dealers who come to South India to stay should know the basic reginal language there... but instead many force their workers nd labours to learn Hindi... Same applies with South Indian companies who come north... We can't promote any particular language at expense of our own mother tongue....
