Don’t stop- just ask. I talk about this a little more in the linked video on this short, but there are a number of reasons why it’s more considerate to plan with the teacher ahead of time instead of sending in treats unannounced. But for this short, the point is it’s not actually a gift for the teacher, it’s a gift for students.
Teacher here. Don’t stop. I love when parents or kids bring in something for special days. It warms my heart thinking about parents taking the time to go to the store to purchase items and caring enough to share with everyone. Treats can always be distributed at the end of the day. No problem.
Exactly! Not everyone thinks the way this “teacher” thinks of “Victoria secret”. The things she says are subjective to her, not all teachers. I’ve done stuff for my daughter’s teachers, and some even told me no one ever did special things for them and they appreciated anything and everything.
I don’t know why everyone is being so rude - these are totally valid requests and honestly I taught for one year and it is hard work that does not pay nearly enough!!
@@georgewawman9649 Lol it was a volunteer year for a college gap year, no need to be rude :) also please know that the holidays are full of prepping lesson plans, the 6.5 hours is just teaching and doesn't count grading and any after-school volunteering. See, this is everything. A couple of my daughter’s teachers had told me that they never got anything from a parent and they appreciated everything I did for them. I didn’t only spoil them for teacher appreciation, but on random days, with some coffee, bagels, muffins, etc. Or the list you get from pta that teachers fill out. I appreciate all teachers and staff because you never know when a conversation or an incident will shape or change the direction for any kid for the better. Plus, teachers and staff are literally our child’s parents for the same amount of time we spend during the week with them. Because a third is them sleeping, while teachers spend almost one third with them🫶🏻 I tell some of the teachers I trust, in telling them they have permission to give her detention, take away her lunch, take away privileges, and wink wink i tell some I say they have permission to pull her by her ears or throw the chancla at her if she ever disrespects them/talks back, staff, or anyone at that, etc. LOL They all laugh and say she’s a good kid. I just know you guys deal with so much and kids nowadays have parents defend them even when they are wrong and disrespectful. I didn’t grow up that way, and try my best to instill those values to my daughter. As a parent who’s volunteered a lot, you are very much appreciated🫶🏻
Our whole class's gift for our teacher in teacher's day is notes saying how she's the greatest teacher and we bought so many cards voting for our teacher to win "best teacher award" our section often wins. And I got my teacher a purse at our Christmas party.
Great question! This video is a parody, but I actually have a whole playlist of teacher gift guides on my channel 😃 When in doubt always yes to a gift card! Not sure your age or what country you live in…Wine is tricky if you live in the USA because it’s illegal on public school grounds or for the child to possess it (even if it’s a gift). But otherwise just have the parent ask what kind of wine they like. It can feel awkward, but we’d rather be asked than have you waste money.
My mom was a teacher before she retired and she was always so grateful - if she didn’t want anything she would let me and my sister look through it or we would donate or regift. It’s not that serious lol. It’s the thought that counts
My teacher is actually very nice about birthdays she leaves the goodies / doughnuts until the end and she lets everyone have one treat for the time being
The second one we always have snacks at the end of the day if it is someone’s birthday or something, so our teachers don’t care and they don’t have to handle a sugar rush.
Exactly! Same thing I thought. I bought victoria secret mists for my kids teachers and a $20 starbucks coffee goodie bag gifts. They absolutely love it.
When my class gives gifts to teachers, it’s usually at the end of the year since we won’t have some of them next year(everyone gets a gift tho). We usually give them a bottle or two of wine, a class yearbook some of the girls made and then just some random things like a bag of popcorn.

I don't mind class treats too much. I just let them sit until dismissal and then pass them out as the kids go out the door. Thankfully we are still in No-Parents-In-The-Classroom-Unless-Volunteering mode, so they can't show up unannounced with boxes of sugar. Best rule ever, hope it never goes away! What I can't handle is parents who send treats and there isn't enough for all children to have one. You would THINK this would never happen, but it's amazing how many times we've been sent a pizza cut into too few slices, or packs of cupcakes where the packs are different flavors (maybe good intentions, but I've never had this happen without at least one kid crying as a result), not enough birthday goodie bags, etc. If we get goodie bags, I spend part of my lunch doing a count. Too many bad experiences. Once a parent sent 20 Trader Joe's advent calendars with chocolates. Would have been an awesome holiday gift, but we had 22 kids... thankfully some were absent that day!!! I almost had a panic attack when I saw those things and didn't breathe a sigh of relief until after morning recess when it was finally safe to assume those kids were truly absent and not just late (we have a chronic tardy problem at our school). Coming in at a close second, parents who send treats that require cups, plates, spoons, etc., but don't send those things. Really? 🤨
I was thinking just chocolate, coffee, and a thank you picture im going to paint. I looked up maybe something else to buy her, and i never even thought about those ideas.
That’s really thoughtful to paint a picture! I’m assuming you’re a student- when I taught fifth grade I had a really talented artist in my class, 11 years later I still have a sketch he drew of me hanging in my office 🩷
That handmade painting is a wonderful idea. Before giving chocolate and coffee, it should be considered whether or not they enjoy consuming those things. When I was a teacher, I received SO MANY gift cards for coffee, and I can't drink it. So I would have much rather have something handmade like a painting or note instead of them paying for something I couldn't use.

Supernanny did a test to see if parents could tell which kids had sugar and which kids had a healthy meal. The parents couldnt actually tell which their kid was given. Yes too much sugar is bad, moderated sugar is fine.
I think that the girl needs to just accept the gifts- if ur really that uncomfortable with the Victoria secret bag on your table then either big it in your back pack, under the table or even just take the thing out. For the cake it’s not like they are going to have a sugar rush on a tiny slither of cake. In my school the just cut very small pieces and we all accepted it just the same way Just be grateful you get presents like that as a teacher!

Wow this is so thoughtful! I think you should summarize what you just said in this comment and give it all to him in person. Sounds like he’s made a huge impact on your life 💕
Never buy a teacher gift...most don't earn it or deserve it...this one is a big whiner...deal with it, babe!
Girl u mean gift u don’t want to receive- I brought sweets in and handed them out to my teacher and the rest of the class- everyone including the teacher loved it!
For the fact I got donuts f9r my whole class and the lil ones nothing happened just happy they ate..
yall she did the help sign in the beginning
That is all for you cause my teacher loves and eats everything we give her (not to be rude)
Thanks now I know what to get me teachers!
My frend brings doughnuts 🍩 And the teachers agree 😮
Supernanny did a test to see if parents could tell which kids had sugar and which kids had a healthy meal. The parents couldnt actually tell which their kid was given. Yes too much sugar is bad, moderated sugar is fine.
Once my friend gave our teachers a blender for Christmas.
I think that the girl needs to just accept the gifts- if ur really that uncomfortable with the Victoria secret bag on your table then either big it in your back pack, under the table or even just take the thing out.
For the cake it’s not like they are going to have a sugar rush on a tiny slither of cake.
In my school the just cut very small pieces and we all accepted it just the same way
Just be grateful you get presents like that as a teacher!
Agree somethings are to personal. You don’t need to give any gift on Valentine’s Day to a teacher..,maybe a card if your child wants to.Some of us don’t appreciate anything others give here so why even waste your time n money?
YES
my mother is a teacher we have so many gifts collecting dust such as mugs lotion candles etc
Just get them a gift card to somewhere like amazon or a restaurant so they can treat themselves
You could always give it away
And mugs.😂
Teachers need to stop freaking out when people have sugar they act like we are going to explode or something when we have sugar
Bro my teacher loves when people bring donuts and gives them to other grades so miss this is just ur request
