I've had the 1.7" RC4WD Mickey Thompson Baja Pro X tires for over a year now and I absolutely LOVE them!! I used them in the snow last year on my Trx4 Bronco and it blasted right through. NOTHING stops them!!
My Capra climbs like a goat with the MT ProX tires and I couldn't be happier with them. Ftr, I bought the RC4WD MT ProX tires first but was unhappy with how soft the lugs are and how easily the roll over without providing good grip. I think a very light truck would excell with the RC4WD versions. Thanks for a great review!!
Hey, I just have to thank you for an unbiased, not sales rep, or promoting style video. I too, was suckered into buying these, for the looks, but had reservations on the (supposedly) performance. My testing has not been done yet. Just mounted them on injora beadlocks, with crawler innovation dual stage lil nova wides, and will be headed to Knights Ferry ca. (our local spot), to see how they do. I have my doubts, because nothing beats 1.9 Jconcept ruptures, for grip, with lil nova foams comp cut inners.
I've been running a old set of tsl's and a set of the og swampers from proline they have been awesome I'll have to check those out ( I do have a set of the rc4wd genius tires so far I've been lucky with those )
The best all around tires I’ve found are the Pit Bull Rock Beast XOR 2.2. Outperform every other 1.9 or 2.2 I’ve compared them with. RC4WD Mud Slinger 2.2 is also good when a aggressive tread is needed, probably the only time I’ve said an RC4WD product is good… Also impressed with the PL Hyrax for all around performance
I will definitely say they look the best, which means there will certainly be a set or two in my collection. If I only bought accessories and optional “upgrades” that actually improved performance I would have a much bigger bank account and much smaller RC room… I get more enjoyment wrenching than running it seems as I’ve gotten older. More trips to the local RC shop to buy a $10.00 part have ended with me building 2 or 3 new kits…
Try running the tires backward this pattern is great for dirt and mud but lack on rocks i have used other tires that are directional and they were better reversed
This a very useful video. Those new tires look like a monster truck tire. I think your statement about the surface you run on could make a difference is correct. As someone mentioned they do well in snow. Would different inserts or no inserts make a difference? I don't much about crawling. But, in other forms of r/c after your tires a broken in they improve. Can that apply to crawling tires?
Canyon Trails continue to just put in work. Honestly, I'm not seeing a big step up for these big lug tired over the trenchers (what I currently run). How was the feel of them all back to back?
@@RoadsideRCnice! I’d like to see them on some printed or dual stage foams! Something to let the conform more, those lugs need to fold and bite a little bit 😁
Friend, what foam do you use for the Baja Pro X? I have them and the original foam is very soft and does not completely fill the tire. What do you recommend me?
A tire test in the woods would be so awesome! The woods and the creek are my preferred spots and nobody seems to test tires there! Only on super grippy rock! I’d really really appreciate if you compared the super swamper from proline to the Baja from proline in that test 🙏🏽 I’ve seen a video of the Baja doing CRAZY lines on smooth river rock while soaking wet and was very impressed (Check out Danny’s rc 4x4 adventures)
@@RoadsideRC do you think these would fit on something like a 21 trx4 bronco? They don’t seem THAT much larger than the canyon trails? Especially sitting on the axle, the overall height doesn’t matter only the amount it’ll stick up into the wheel well 🤔
@Roadside RC I just bought 2 sets of these Treal rims and tried to mount a set on my Axial SCX10 III Early Model Bronco. I'm bummed out because they won't slide all the way onto the 12mm hub. I'm confused as heck, because I don't see any obstruction, but it won't go all the way flush. Any insight?
@@RoadsideRC Hey, thanks for the reply. Not hitting portals, these are straight axels. I put the nut on and tightened it down slowly. It actually pulled it on without too much trouble. It may be a bugger to pull off at some point, but I think the tolerances are just super close.
@Red Deer Rebel RC That is why I test the tires and put the videos out - so others can make their choice of where / how they want to use them. Personally, I have continued to use them on my less-performance oriented Gen9. Look great, and do good enough for that use.
@@RoadsideRC I've been running Pro-Line MT Baja Pro X in predator compound on several of my TRX-4s, specifically a Sport with Treal rims and used that truck to go "crawling" for the first time with friends at a local crawling spot. My Sport out climbed many of the established trucks and surprised a few of the old timers who I stayed with through many of the difficult climbs! I have a Vanquish and the Sport outperforms it to! To my way of thinking, its all about getting the weight and tire right. I try to keep things as light as possible, but put the weight where its needed. Tires need to be sticky regardless what you're trying to accomplish. I like the MT Baja Pro X here in the PNW because of the snow and loose terrain I drive in where these tires just get the job done! Many of my Trail Trucks use the Hyrax tires because they are a great "snow tire" if you get the weight just right, they work extremely well. Both of my Capras wear the MT Baja Pro X in predator compound and are very hard to stop! I'm an all-around kind of RC guy that runs a lot of logging roads and basalt rock.
again...testing new tires against tires that are already 'worked in'. I watch everyone's tire testing and most do this. It's simply not an even comparison.
@RoadsideRC the best solution is to run the new tires a bit then test. I didn't mean all new tires. Point being the tires are only new once. The performance of the tire as new just isn't relevant.

I do bet they would do well in the snow!
The Baja's are great in the snow. The RC 4WD 1.9 Ground Hawg Tires Iv'e found to be very good on the rock's. Like button energized.

Good luck with your test - they are a fun tire, and perhaps on your surface they will do better than they did for me.

Trenchers/predator are my go to tires. My ecto crawls walls with them!
I agree - they usually do very well!

Agree 100%. If I was going to recommend one of those two, I would certainly recommend folks use the Trenchers.
I found that if you mount them “backwards” I think they work better at least on my Scx24 they do
Interesting!
The full-size world uses them a lot, they are a proven contender.
Yes - but it does not always translate to 1:10 with different rubber compounds, tire constructions, vehicle dynamics -etc.
I’d say these are worth it. Might have to grab a set for the gen8
I am going to modify the tread, and try them on the Gen9! Stay tuned.

I switched to a 3D printed insert.
@@RoadsideRC ok ok a lot of people have a problem with this tire that's why
Great video!! Any tire suggestions for an Arrma Senton 3s?
Senton runs a 14mm hex so there's limited choices in wheels, but tires I like prolines. Honestly the stock ones on the senton are awesome.
I have seen a few people run the Vorteks tires on the Senton. I thought they looked good, and seemed to perform well also.

@Hearthstoned Unfortunately, I don't have that body laying around to test. It might fit - and if not, you may just need to clearance the body some.
@@RoadsideRC yea I’d just hate to have to trim the body, I think I’d have to get rid of the fender flares if I did 🤔
How did these do at uste..I got the tires mounted on the Holcomb wheel...any thoughts on those when too..
what budget tires do you recomend for the ftx ravine? it needs huge tires 130mm or more 2.2'' to deal with the fat axles.
Check these out - they surprised me.

Will these work on trx4 21 bronco with shock mount lift
They should.
It drives me crazy that proline and RC4wd only sell them as pairs
How do you want them sold?
@@jamesplymire5342 sets of 4, considering there’s 4 tires on a vehicle
Yeah - but the 6 wheel trucks really appreciate it.
I know some people get 2 g8 for the rear 2 predators for the front
Same but handy if you have a trx6
We're the trenchers g8 or predator?
Predator

My hyrax clog with mud on the trails
100% - that is why I typically avoid hyrax.
It's a mud tire, why you " crawling" with it?
