Tampo is an immature childish BEHAVIOR, you don't reward a child for poor behavior so why would you do it for an alleged adult. If you don't put an end to it IMMEDIATELY, it'll only get worse and more often. Set your boundary and DO NOT let her cross it.
The problem with Tampo is that there is a false accusation built into it. It says to the man "You did something wrong!" when he knows he didn't. More than anything, that is what makes men mad. I don't mind some jealousy, but once I reassure her that I am not interested in anyone else, if she keeps punishing me for nothing, it will make me annoyed.
it's important to realze that men who actually have money can go anywhere in the world so you'd be wise not to treat men worse than they get treated elsewhere. i have a slim, femanine Russian GF with a great sense of humor, and she has never once asked me for money and certainly wouldn't ask me to give money to her parents. i would only date a filipina if she was willing to treat me better than i get treated by Russian girls. i have no problem giving money to a filipina but she'd better be willing to contribute more to the relationship in the form of cooking, cleaning and overwhelming gratitude, or me and my friends would just be like sorry but i'm not gonna keep giving money to someone who's really ungreatful!!!
My Filipina girlfriend is fiscally conservative and practical. She is an Ilocano from northern Luzon Island. I have been told by other Filipinos that ilocano people are good at handling money. I don’t always believe in stereotypes, but there may be some truth in that. She has a job working as a treasurer in her Barangay and seems better than most other treasurers in her town.
@rolandmueller7218 Hi Roland. It sounds like you have a wonderful girl because there are so many nightmare stories I've heard about Filipnas and money. Does she have a nice sister that wants to meet an American guy? 😊
Leah, can you do a video on the topic of how Filipinas lose friends and sometimes family, all related to dating and marrying a foreigner? There are so many videos on filipina scams and scammers, but little on what happens to the honest filipinas we westerners grow to love. Thanks for what you do. Watching and following from USA. Salamat!
You ladies said a few things that jumped out to me: Jill said "Build a relationship". Love this! and I would also be upfront with my expectations pretty early in the relationship: I want marriage, but need to date for at least 3 years to make sure it's going to last, and yes ladies, I want kids! Cheers!
I always like your presentation in these videos Leah. These are serious subjects for expats/filipinas but you always manage to make me laugh so hard. I never thought I would enjoy watching vidoes like this. By the way, you ladies present yourselves so well and I love to hear your thoughts on life.
I'm totally OK with dating a Province girl who doesn't speak good English. I'd be OK with teaching her how to speak fluent English. I'm easy going, but I won't tolerate the Tampo-silent treatment. I understand we are going to disagree, but communication is key for the relationship to thrive. great interview, keep it up! Cheers!
You're OK with teaching her English, but is she going to be OK with it or will she look at it as you being condescending and demeaning her because she can't do it.

I see comments saying that it is ridiculous to expect a foreigner to help his Filipina's family financially. I can understand this because from a Biblical standpoint parents should care for their children and not expect anything in return later. But the culture in the Philippines is not based on Biblical principles. It's Catholic and it is based on traditions. So most Filipinas have it drilled into them from a young age that they will show respect and love for their parents by helping them financially in their old age. They are taught that they owe their parents for the sacrifices that their parents made for them. They want to make their parents proud of them. They will feel tremendous guilt if they don't. They may also feel guilt if they don't help their siblings who are also in need. People coming from the West don't understand this culture. I personally don't think it's realistic to expect a Filipina to abandon her culture. In most cases she will place her parents and possibly even her siblings in a higher priority above herself and her husband. On a practical note, if her parents are living in poverty and can barely afford rice to eat, she will feel very guilty sitting down to three meals a day of chicken, pork, and fish. I think if you're going to date or marry a Filipina then you need to acknowledge these realities and find a way to deal with them in the most fair and practical way possible. You can't just say... "Well that's just ridiculous!" and expect her to turn her back on her family. If you don't want to help the family then you better find a Filipina that has a family that is financially stabile. This will significantly reduce the size of your dating pool.
The first time I got the 'tampo' treatment I sat my Filipina wife down and explained to her that MATURE adults have a civil discussion about what is bothering them and going silent was NOT how you resolve things and make the relationship better.
Depends on the level of education and work ethics, and then family being the next biggest problem. Most women from the Philippines think the foreign men support the entire family. The Philippines women put on a big show.
Whether married, in relationship or not --To NOTICE beauty (on both sides) is natural, normal and almost impossible to avoid; Lusting, Ogling or Fantasizing is 100% willful and should NEVER be tolerated!! Use the 4 SECOND RULE…. Anything less is noticing, Anything More is intentional and UNACCEPTABLE!
Foreigners (ME) we have no objection to spending generously on our beloved Pina gf or wife; and it’s obvious that includes some support to the biological parents as well. The Issues are 1) while dating (especially in LDR situations) we have no way to distinguish between the a sophisticated SCAMMER and a possible girlfriend in genuine need 2) dates/gf/wives who wilt to larger family Begging (siblings, uncles, aunts, grandparents ect.) and don’t say NO! The reality of a few naive or stupid foreigners who “burned” their retirement funds on the alter of some splendorous beguiling Pina-building houses for extended family members to keep his “goddess” smiling, has become a province legend which far too many believe is still likely-- its Not. Now that SCAM Culture is known many foreigners simply say NO to all request before meeting face-to-face and NO to anyone outside of his lady (including her parents); fully aware that he may risk losing some wife possibilities along the way. The “Long Con” created that foreigner NO!reaction. In the long-con a Pina bypasses all the early suspicions by love-bombing and never asking for money for her needs only-- all over several months up to a year.
A province, girl that barely speaks English isn’t a problem for me. That lets me have a good time learning from each other, which creates a better bond. My problem is everybody outside of our relationship asking and or demanding for money. I despise lazy people, and I’m not responsible For everybody on this planet. If her family is coming to me for money, I will most likely tell them to get a job. If she pressures me to give her female relatives money, I’m going to put this in her head. If I pay a female for money, she has to give me what a female has to offer, which is sex. When she thinks of that answer, she won’t continue to tell me to give other females my money. I’m trying to build a empire with her, not what everybody else. And I definitely despise and have no respect for any guy, regardless, if he acts like one or not. Give him Money so that way he can sit around and do nothing. The problem with relationships with foreign women, is the idea that the man’s culture isn’t important. The reality is, the man’s culture comes first because he is the provider. I’ve never seen any relationship that last without money being the number one issue. My money for your loyalty is the trade-off. Especially for someone that has a culture that is surrounded by religion, but don’t follow the rules of said religion. You are supposed to leave your mother and father and cling to your husband. Forsaking all others. For some odd reason, they tend to ignore that part of the rules that their religion claims
Western men are waking up to the fact that marriage is not good for us - Simply put we lose too much when you decided to leave, which happenes more times than not in the west. As for the silent treatment, by all means, be quite - Thats our peace time lol
You would think, but after a time or 2 you won't have peace of mind because your brain will run continually trying to figure out what you did, even if you did nothing and it was just something made up inside her head. It is a poor childish behavior, do you want a partner or a child you have to raise?
For gods sake. Can these filipine people understand that we dont wanna provide for the whole damn "clan" ? WE WORK FOR OUR MONEY, we USUALLY can provide for our wife and kids, but NO WE DO NOT want to WORK AND THEN LET OUR MONEY GO TO HER NEIGHBORHOOD. How hard is that to understand? Amazing, just amazing.
Rent, don't buy? Be happy with your own company, living life in paradise. Employ someone to clean weekly, and eat simply at home or support local business by eating out regularly. You will avoid a lot of financial trouble, relationship trouble. can't own property anyway so RENT everything!
I have noticed that a fair amount of Filipinas have a difficult time trying to budget money, my Filipina included. My Filipina wife found out early that tampo doesn't work on me, I just end up with a quiet house. But, I wouldn't consider any other woman for my spouse. She is wonderful.
Should I buy my wife’s cousin a new phone? Because she will soon be head of my wife’s former household? She only 17 her grandmother and younger brothers are there too while her mom works overseas
Men come to the Philippines and desperate and rush things, take your time in finding a woman, and don't date a woman that talks about money right away, or stay away from from broke jobless women in any country, l haven't been thru those problems since l been coming to the Philippines 2016, l will not take care of no one's family.
Yeah my ex wife tried tampo on me, after I didn't speak to her for 6 weeks she understood, I loved her, wanted her, but would be just fine without her.
This explanation did not work with my wife, BUT I picked my wife out of all the women in the world, and I had seen a bunch. We became a couple as the result of an informed competitive selection on both of our parts. My wife had beaten all the competition I had seen. If I had picked my wife because I thought she was the only woman in the world, it would have been an uninformed choice or at least one with very few selection criteria. (I think that is how Neanderthal genes got into the human genome.) So when a man looks at another woman, but does not flirt, and stays faithfully married, isn't that a big complement to his lady and a reaffirmation of his original selection?
Support the whole family? Are you mad? When you marry, you create your own family; Man and Wife. Sometimes there are children. There are NOT third cousins, great uncles and dozens of other family members who have any right to being included in that new family.
I was reading your guest's body language, and they seemed so incredibly uncomfortable the whole time. Their eyebrows were furrowed indicating concern, and your guest in the middle kept making a closed mouth gesture indicating she didn't want to answer your questions. Your questions were very reasonable, so my only guess is that they feared retribution from ?? their friends or family on social media? Maybe their boyfriends? Watching this exchange would convince me that they wished they didn't have foreigner boyfriends. Your face was the only one somewhat relaxed.
Leah is a very outgoing person and has spent a lot of time in front of the camera on RUclips. She is very comfortable. Maybe her guests are not quite so outgoing and they are shy. I think they did very well and they were very honest. Honestly being in front of a RUclips audience would make me very nervous.
It's not tampo that's #3, #2 it's jealousy it's crazy #1 They ALL lie even the men because they are afraid of the truth, my wife of 6 yrs has only asked me for money when it's a real family cause
Tampo ha ha ha, such a childish act of a grown Pinay. A strong partnership needs good communication to work out. If you play that childish tampo I would just pack up and move on & find a mature adult Filipina that does not play childish games….
So Leah you saying gio and Maya relationship didn't work out cau if money I highly doubt that I think your friend Maya got her head full cau she started receiving Good money from RUclips and so she started getting her head full meaning in western terms I making good money now so I dnt need him that's my thoughts Leah it's all about God thou in a relationship you have out God in it but with Gio and Maya Maya got bored start Makeing money and believe she doesn't need him any more my thing is Gio she have never turn her on to RUclips that's his mistake if i come to Philippines I want live a simple life travel have fun do me of a Filipino woman be in my life so be it but am nt getting married
Leah; you act like an immature 13 year old teenager, talking with your immature friends about silly things! This subject that you and your guests are talking about, is a very serious but important matter to foreigners. However, you treat this as a simple matter, like gossiping with one another in high school! To make your videos more enjoyable, informative, and more acceptable, be more mature and more serious about the content. Videos are not to be used for you or your guests amusement! Take a look at The Filipina Pea, her videos are everything that makes videos watchable. Not all of this teenager stupidity that you just made with these two flips!
If you’re going to pull this tampo bs or ask me for money non stop then you can go away. There are a million of you and they’re all willing to date me so you can just go away. And I will absolutely look at other girls just so you know that I have options
I'm a foreigner and have dated pilipina in the US and the Philippines. Let's just say that if a foreigner can't get a pilipina in his own country than he has little case in the Philippines. Here is one thing a pilipina don't understand. Guys going to the Philippines are some of the poorest quality of men in the US. These are not guys who have homes or saving accounts in the US. These are guys who American women don't want and the pilipina women in the US don't want these guys. These are guys who don't have a history of strong relationships in the US and that is why you see these bad qualities in them like you suggest. Pilipina are just more reasonable when it comes to BS in a foreigner so they can get away with being lower class.
What do you mean? Im a Filipina and Im aware of all these things you mentioned. Thats why I believe, a foreigner - Filipina relationship isnt an ideal one. Most of the time its purely transactional --so the PH should actually discourage it.
@ßhopkins you are very smart and educated and have a very interesting view about this situation. I think the PH should enforce a Law demanding a Foreigner have at least $100,000 USD in a Philippines bank account and this will cut down on the scum bags foreigners. The Government can charge $5000 USD to marry a pilipina and also start making sure a foreigner pays child support if they separated
Y'all girls ask for money to much my girlfriend ask me for money but mainly for rent and food and transportation so am helping her a lot so she is lucky am helping but don't ask to much
Yes it starts that way speaking from experience. Then after awhile there's always something else that she needs, like to pay off a loan or debt, doctors, dentists, if she has kids, same applies but added on, school supplies, project fees, camp fees.and it can go on. You must learn to say NO and be strict with it, just remember if they survived that long without money then they can still go without. To keep your filipina NEVER give her everything she needs! She will eventually leave you as she loses respect for you and she doesn't adore you anymore. Trust me, give her the bare minimum and no more.

The “Long Con” created that foreigner NO!reaction. In the long-con a Pina bypasses all the early suspicions by love-bombing and never asking for money for her needs only-- all over several months up to a year.
I'd be happy there , with a lady that is business minded enough to already have her own Sari-Sari store & maybe plot of land in her province.
Good morning ha elle sont belle les filles acceuillente
Tampo means it’s time to go fishing.
👍
❤❤
so if money is a common reason to why you guys break up from a foreigner ?
then you don't have a relationship
but you have a business deal
If I marry a Filipino or Thai woman in their early 40s and tell them I don’t wanna have kids and I’m in my 50s. Is that OK?
Leah 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤣🤣🤣🤣 Love You All GBU 🙏🙏🙏
I have noticed that a fair amount of Filipinas have a difficult time trying to budget money, my Filipina included. My Filipina wife found out early that tampo doesn't work on me, I just end up with a quiet house. But, I wouldn't consider any other woman for my spouse. She is wonderful.
They’re called “one day millionaires”. For a reason.
Vous savais je ne suis pas perfectioner il faut me comprendre
Should I buy my wife’s cousin a new phone? Because she will soon be head of my wife’s former household? She only 17 her grandmother and younger brothers are there too while her mom works overseas
Seek love first ladies, then the money will come, integrity, l have dated a filipina lady whose English was better than mine.
Men come to the Philippines and desperate and rush things, take your time in finding a woman, and don't date a woman that talks about money right away, or stay away from from broke jobless women in any country, l haven't been thru those problems since l been coming to the Philippines 2016, l will not take care of no one's family.
I had given 10000 PHP to my Filipina, and it was one of my biggest mistakes of my life. Then she blocks me afterwards. Talk about ungrateful. 😔💔
She did you a favor. Some Filipina will continuously ask for money. Take it as a lesson learned.
Hi do you have any single filipina friends like you
6 months tampo? Who would put up with that? That relationship is doomed.😢
Yeah my ex wife tried tampo on me, after I didn't speak to her for 6 weeks she understood, I loved her, wanted her, but would be just fine without her.
pressures to support and much worse meet demands from family and friends of pinas.
J aime la vie sinple
If they aren't in a serious relationship. Then don't ask him for money.
Support the whole family? Are you mad? When you marry, you create your own family; Man and Wife. Sometimes there are children. There are NOT third cousins, great uncles and dozens of other family members who have any right to being included in that new family.
The philipina has to know how to manage money for their future.
Je ne parle pas anglais
c'est dieu qui nous sa unies
Tampo
It's a thing
"Tampo" is a Filipino term that refers to a feeling of sulking or being upset, often due to a perceived slight or misunderstanding. - AI
... individuals may withdraw or show displeasure instead of directly expressing their feelings.
...In many cases, the person experiencing tampo may expect the other party to notice their mood and make an effort to reconcile.
...It reflects the importance of non-verbal communication and emotional sensitivity in Filipino social interactions
It's not tampo that's #3, #2 it's jealousy it's crazy #1 They ALL lie even the men because they are afraid of the truth, my wife of 6 yrs has only asked me for money when it's a real family cause
I think being jealous is disrespectful to your partner. You're implying they would be unfaithful.
Well, just how much $$ do these girls need to stay happy?
All the interviews I've seen with Vietnamese women say they could live a REALLY GOOD life on 10 million VND (~$400).
All of it
Yes but how much money . I realize my future wife needs money and I’m ok with that .
Live poor and prosper ‼️‼️
Je suis fatigue avec votre langue vous il faut essayer de parlais wolof vous aller voir Come c est dificille
If you’re going to pull this tampo bs or ask me for money non stop then you can go away. There are a million of you and they’re all willing to date me so you can just go away. And I will absolutely look at other girls just so you know that I have options
Jealous i just ignore the other 2 topic is bad
Money . I have none
Cuz y'all married
I would marry the 3 of you 😍😍😍
Guys date a mature filipina lady, less problems.
Filipinas, date an emotionally mature, open-minded and MENTALLY STABLE foreigner. You'll never know... be warned!
Gelaye je suis pa avec elle pour de l'argent je l aime
OMG, Stop making EVERYTHING about foreigner and Filipinas! Things don't work period sometimes because people are HUMANS. Enough already!
No, its actually very important to discuss.
