      True indeed. I already wrecked one rod holder with a normal sized reel.

    Fun fact. The "town" of Fakarava has its own name. It's called Rotoava. And believe it or not it has TWO hotels you can book online.

      Yup… not sure if the settlement by the south pass has a name too.

    I honestly think if you ever hit a reef with the Scout, the reef will be worse for wear.

    • @sailing_scout
      @sailing_scout  3 месяца назад +1

      I think so too. I don’t think plowing into a bommie at 5 knots is going to hole us. We’ve got a LOT of fiberglass. Still, getting myself blown into a reef I can’t get myself off is not a road I want to go down…

    5:28 Pour sone cognac into that and you will feel MUCH more confident sailing out of Fakarava.

    12:39 I'm sorry to pour salt on your wounds, but you've just been hit by a wave ON THE STERN!!! 😀 Captain Slow. 😛

      We’re a tank, not a race car, but we get there (so far anyway, knock on wood…)

      @@sailing_scout Do you happen to have a history of your boat's previous travels? I wonder where it's been. Cats like that in early 90s weren't bought to saunter around the Coconut Grove. Really curious.

      All I know is that the previous owner had her from 2012-22 and did a very slow circumnavigation.

    16:45 You DID contact the harbor master and ask for permission to cross the runway path, right? 🙂

      @sailing_scout  3 месяца назад +1

      We did. I actually did it while Megan and the kids were looking at the dolphins.

    3:40 PLEASE tell me you went on slack water!!! "Being pushed out" by 18 cubic kilometers of water is probably not a good idea. Actually, I don't know if it is. Never seen anyone try that. Let's watch and see.

    • @sailing_scout
      @sailing_scout  3 месяца назад +1

      It was just about slack, yes. Two boats even followed us out. Jokes on them if they were looking to us for expert info. 😜

      @@sailing_scout The same logic as letting women through the door first. What is a galant ritual now used to be a security measure - if she gets eaten, it's not safe to leave the cave. 😛
