Thanks for your helpful comment. You should do some research before you try to criticize. This part is the Vapor Canister Vent Valve and it is a common part that fails on these older vehicles. It gets stuck closed and will not allow it to vent when filling, thus making it slow to fill and the pump shutting off.
Part of the filler hose is rubber and they tend to collapse internally causing this issue

Disconnect the hose from the evap canister vent valve you put on and try it again if it takes gas then you need a evap charcoal canister
