"You step outside, you risk your life. You take a drink of water, you risk your life. And nowadays you breathe, and risk your life. every moment now, you don't have a choice. The only thing you can choose is what you're risking it for."
I literally loved this film! It inspired me to go out and shoot more in my own city. Photography is a passion and that passion fuels something inside of you to go out and make sure you get the shot you want. That is what I love about photography.
Wow I just watched this...and as an amateur photographer...moving here to NYC Jan 2015...my photographic eyes have opened up...I see through my lens in a whole new way...I am inspired to go out and shoot more...It would be nice to meet peeps that can show me around the city like abandoned buildings...(im way to scared of heights) lol...
This is fantastic. I remember blogs where people recorded their journeys. Instagram is a game changer! Great video, can't wait to see more Seeker Stories!
Guys you are really talented storytellers, keep up the good work and just thank you for giving us the chance to discover every day a new corner of our world
It's cool to see young kids doing this now. I was doing it at their age, only we didn't have thousand dollar cameras lol. Some really old places I went into are long since demolished now so see em while they're still there!
Ya these kids know what's up. Beautiful shots on so many of those photos. I've always been into urban exploration (from all the way back in the 90's....elementary school actually). But I never thought to take some pictures to share with everyone else.
Such an amazing short documentary. Inspired me so much to go and do urbex and rooftopping myself and I've seen some amazing views. Now the dream is to hit NYC 🏙
Explorers, shows interest in the world and how it works. You guys don't take for granted you go where others don't so its your responsibility to either address any issues you find or report them. A slight dilemma when authorities don't see it your way. A lot of these so called explorers aren't running to find something but from something and a dark dismal hole often provides shelter and quiet.
This is so cool. I lived in Arlington until i was 10 ( right outside of dc ) and i grew to fall in love with DC . Now i live in the suburbs and i hate it more than anything.
What background music was used in this video ? :) I just love the idea of urban exploring, I need to form together with a group of people who want to do it with me, but its so hard to find them.
I love this!! I'm an urban explorer and photographer (IG:@hennessyvander) based in LA, so I can totally relate. It's mostly rooftops and ruins here on the West Coast, but it's always amazing nonetheless. You don't know satisfaction until you've climbed endless flights of stairs, discover a way into a rooftop where you're not supposed to be, and sit at the edge, just drinking in the life and vibrancy around you. Each experience is worth the many risks involved. And Instagram's truly a valuable networking tool among us photographers and models. This episode covered a good portion of what we do, and I loved every second of it. Hope to see more like it!!
im a little older than these kids. back in the day we used different web forums, email lists, etc to organize and meet to go exploring. when i lived in the city i met some of the ig ue folks and noticed things dont really change. just the platforms. hopefully locations will last though thats always been a problem with the 'sport'
What's a good camera to start shooting with? I've been iphone based for a while now and want to make the switch to a DSLR. I'll mostly be doing urban and street shooting. I've been watching the Canon D series on craigslist but nothing good yet. Is the Canon Rebel series a good start?
The Rebel series is definitely a good place to start. The beautiful thing about the series is that all of the cameras are so similar. This is great because you can get an old rebel t2i (which i use) or a t3 and it won't be too different from a new rebel t5i or t7i, so it's easy to save money and get one.
West713Trey I have a Nikon d3300 which I absolutely love. If you go with it make sure to buy either the Nikon 10-20mm lense or the Rokinon 14mm. They are great wide angle lenses and they are good for filming due to them being manual focus.
I go to school in Missouri and I'm in my last year there. Before I started going to school in Missouri I've been interested in urban exploring/ abandoned places but I really never found the right people to hang with and do this with. Any ideas how to get me started?
Hey guys i'm 14 years old and I want to get into photography can somebody recommend me what should my first camera be for a starter or which is a cheapest camera and has good quality I already have like 127 dollars saved up. Please reply quick and Thanks :)
+Logic Boii canon t3 or t3i maybe even go for the t5 or t5i. Nikon D3200, D3300 and D5300 does are some pretty good choices to begin photography with but prices are pretty different, but affordable
+Logic Boii Go for the Sony A6000! I reckon it's better than the Canon T3i and T5i. Video capability is better on the T5i but if you're shooting photos, the A6000 is much better, and faster to boot. Nikon has a better lens selection, but the body is a lot bulkier. Ultimately, it's up to what you shoot and how you want to shoot it. Invest in a good lens, it'll save you a lot of struggle in the beginning. The kit-lenses are ok but if you shell out $100-$200 more you'll be a lot happier, trust me.
+Logic Boii To be honest, an iPhone 6s is going to be fine for most stuff. My friend @alxmclrn is an avid photographer and didn't upgrade until just recently. Having a camera does open a lot of doors, but it's good to prove yourself with simple stuff to make sure it would be worth it to upgrade. If you can't make awesome stuff with an iPhone, the equipment isn't the problem.
+Logic Boii The Sony A6000! It is a great camera to start out on, it is small, compact but still produces the same quality photos as big Canon DSLR's if not better. It is currently the camera I have now and I love it. If you are just starting out it boasts one of the fastest autofocuses on the market and has full auto capabilities. Once you learn more you can switch to manual mode and control every aspect of the camera. Also it has interchangeable lens which means if you really get into photography some day you can upgrade your lens. I don't regret buying the A6000, and if you do decided to go with the a6000 I would start out with the kit lens. 16mm-50mm. Best of luck!
