You can't wish for it, you gotta work for it....... Chuck D is my new hero, why can't hip hop artists be this articulate nowadays, I might listen to it mor often!
The bomb squad was a big influence on my producing and guitar playing. Listen to ANYTHING they have done with stereo with good headphones and there is so many interesting and creative sounds flying in and out those mixes constantly. Public Enemy was called hardcore hip hop, but to me, PE was psychedelic as anything from the 60s onward.
2:47--This was also Gangstarr's songwriting method. Guru would come up with song titles first and have Premier try to come up with beats that sound like what a song with those titles would sound like. Then Guru would start writing and they would work with each other to make the pieces fit.
Always been someone ive seen of great importance, not only for hip hop, but for rock as well, as far as im concerned Bring The Noise was historic, and it was done better then any of this new white rap rock, Chuck D is as interesting as anyone out there, I could sit and listen to him talk about shit all night!
5:35 - 6:12 I actually disagree with Chuck here. I do sometimes listen to foreign language hip hop, because when a rapper has good flow, you can tell, even if you can't understand what they're saying.
Who Stole The Show?, Brothers Gonna Work It Out, Revolutionary Generation, Fight The Power, Welcome To The Terrordome, Don't Believe The Hype, Bring The Noise, War At 33 1/3... BOOM
You can't wish for it, you gotta work for it.......
