I agree completely about the clip, wish they would have utilized the same clip as the pd36r; much more versatile.

I use the dual direction pocket clip from an old Olight M2R. Not the Pro. It is deeper carry although it contacts the light further towards the head also. I, like you would prefer this light go to turbo instead of strobe but I must have rear switches or a side switch that doesn't activate the light like the PD35 V3.0. I don't like to have to unlock a light to use it and find that my favorite UI in use is the old M2R or TN12 Pro. You have access to instant firefly, a preselected level and turbo but find in carrying the side switch will inadvertently activate inside the pocket.

Why the different clip design? Here are the reasons.... As a tactical light instead of an EDC light, a police officer or a legally armed citizen in other parts of the world, might need to immediately grab and shine their light onto a potential threat. To identify it, and see if it is indeed a threat.
Keep in mind they are doing so under stress! That means that their fine motor skills are gone. So they have to rely on gross motor skills. Therefore you'd want your light sticking up out of your pocket so you have more to grab onto, and then pull the light out. A low-profile carry-clip is the last thing you want in a tactical situation.
Also, two way clips are thicker by their very nature. And quite frankly uncomfortable to use in a high stress situation. Speaking from experience. Also, certain features that are great on an EDC light are detrimental or useless on a tactical one. Being able to convert your light into a temporary headlamp with the bill of a cap, thanks to a 2-way clip; definitely one of them. Not needed on a tactical light. So, you make the clip one directional; reducing its thickness and improving comfort in the hand. And, you mount the clip lower on the body so more of the tailcap sticks up to make the light easier to draw from a pants pocket in a stressful situation. Honestly, for those who don't _need_ a tactical light, they're wasting their money buying one.

I love these Fenix lights, I think they are some of the best, however my one complaint is the memory. I wish there was a way to program the light to always come on in turbo, then cycle thru the different settings. I also find myself sometimes forgetting what level I'm on, I have to constantly keep a count of what setting I'm in. I find myself forgetting and being unsure if I'm on setting 1, 2 or 3, 4 ext. Then I have to start all over, cycle thru and count again. the memory mode is great for some people but Fenix should definitely have a programable option for always starting in turbo. Thank you for the great videos, watching from New York.

Yeah, i totally agree about memory. A tactical setting would be amazing! Thanks for watching

Completely agree. I’ve been telling Fenix this for years. I love their lights but they need to make a true tactical setting.

The PD40R with the rotary switch would be about the closest thing to what you're referring to. I just did a review on it if you wanna check it out to see if that's what you're needing.

Why is this not as green as the pd35 v3? I had to send that one back..it was like a jolly rancher in beam form.

Thanks for the thorough review! What´s your choice: PD35R or PD32V2.0? Serious beam differences? And thanks for the different mode beamshots! Just the quality/focus of the beamshot part has room for improvement ☺

I know, I need a new camera for the beam shots!!
My choice would be the pd35 because it has a 10 lumen ultra low and i love that

Please check out the Eagtac DX3L MKII SST70, I too am a fan on defensive/edc lights but can find any ui info anywhere.

I believe it has instant max/min while being 3000lm and a fairly thin 18650 light

IMO, that recessed and small mode button would be hard to find under duress, you're much more likely to hit the protruding primary button and get whatever output you set it to...

@@flashlightcrazy Which is a shame really, as Fenix build quality and regulation is top notch and has always been one of the best, but somehow they are unwilling to produce a PD-series model with a proper tactical UI with instant, guaranteed, access to turbo only. A-la, say, Olight Warrior series, TN12 Pro/ Acebeam L16, or Sofirn SP35T/FC12, Nitecore MH-series etc.
