I've made my way through several of McCullough's books - from Brooklyn Bridge, to Panama Canal, to Pioneers, to Johnstown Flood, and I'm okay with his storytelling. But it is not "True History" he writes. McCullough is covering the White person's history in these books. It would be better if we could get the true, real stories. He glosses over the contributions of Blacks on the canal, of Blacks in the Pioneers story and of Blacks at the Johnstown flood. He is no HISTORIAN...
Sad .... is history only to be taught and read about through one’s skin color or through one’s (singular and plural) sacrifice, commitment, and achievement?
This man is a national treasure.
I love this historian. I am reading this book now.
I’m loving the book, it’s just the right amount of challenging for my level and super interesting
Well put! So inspiring. I’m glad I got this audiobook, let alone all of his books on CD.
The founding of marietta was a story that needed to be told.
Just got the book in the mail!
