    • @commandercritic9036

Need a VERY big zeppelin, all aircraft have limited supplies, even if you can stay in the air indefinitely because your kept aloft by the zeppelin’s buoyancy tanks, you still need food and water, and you need those stores to last a LONG time so that you can remain airborne until everything on the surface calms down. For food this means you need refrigeration to keep everything fresh, or you need large stores of long lasting food that does not spoil easily, for water you will need to have a water reclamation system, either to recycle water used on the ship, or to extract water from the air, say whenever the ship passes through clouds, or even a mixture of both. No matter the strategy, this means you will need to keep the ship powered, in order to run these systems, solar would work, perhaps even wind considering the altitude you’ll be at, you can possibly make use of the trade winds to turn wind turbines attached to the outer hull, though these would be very heavy, best option would be a nuclear reactor, as both solar and wind take up a lot of space, and any other power source will require fuel, since your tight on space to begin with, you want to take as little fuel as possible, nuclear power covers all the bases for power requirements, of all the options it requires both the least amount of space and the least amount of fuel.
Taking all this into account, you could still only probably fit a few hundred people on board, as we run into a little problem called the square cubed law. This is the law which states that as an object grows in size, it’s volume grows faster than its surface area, this little law has been the bane engineers for centuries and limits the size of objects capable of flight with our current understanding of physics. This is because the effect of gravity on an object is directly proportional to its mass, or volume, so the heavier something is, the greater the effort to get it off the ground. This is why all creatures that have ever been able to fly have lightweight fragile bodies (at least in comparison to the rest of the animal kingdom).
For our Zeppelin, the main problem is we need to take into account not just space on board for everything we need, but also weight, those stores also have to support the people on board, so the more people, the more food and water needed, the more food and water we need to store on board, the greater the weight, which means we need bigger engines, which means even more weight, eventually we might reach a point where we need a larger more powerful reactor, which is more weight, bigger engines, so on, so forth, and we haven’t even got to the question of Weather Conditions. The larger a Zeppelin is, the more cumbersome it is, and in a world being torn asunder by tectonic forces, we can expect some pretty crazy weather systems, mega-hurricanes, tornado swarms, storm systems that would make Zeus himself proud, and you want to put a giant metallic object with multiple flimsy parts sticking out of it, IN THE MIDDLE OF ALL THAT!?
Ark ships like the ones we see in this film are just more efficient, they don’t need to be concerned so much about weight, so long as they float it’s not a problem, so we can make them HUGE, nuclear reactors are already tried and tested on some of the largest ships on the planet, so that’s power handled, their sheer size means we have plenty of both storage room and living space, and while the ships in this film were designed to cater to the very rich, Ark ships can be designed to fit thousands, if not Tens of thousands of people on board per ship, depending on size.
