Holyfield has a career record full of tough fights against good fighters not one full of part time road sweepers. A legend of boxing.
True, he fought the HOF Dwight Muhammad in just his 12th.
some of his losses were more meaningful than some others wins
@@TheMichaelseymour- Well said!
Holyfield was a great. He had great boxing skills and power in either hand. But his come forward all out war style and heart of a lion is what makes him one of the best.. Thanks for the thrills evander
this was the fight of the year according to some major publication or tv network, I remember it well, Holyfield said after this was one of the fights that made him question why he wanted to be a boxer during the fight
A true legend of boxing he fought the best fighters in the heavyweight division lost some but they were all tough fights the real deal
Dokes was actually in shape for this fight...for the 3rd or 4th time in his life
But his legs were gone
Holyfield is a Warrior, tremendous Heart
Holyfield is gifted especially the Tyson fight true heart and sportsmanship even after the ear bite ...chasing Tyson documentary was dope
I REMEMBER THIS FIGHT LIKE IT WAS YESTERDAY. IT WAS TRULY THE FIGHT THAT INTRODUCED EVANDER TO THE HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION, AND GOT TYSON'S CAMP'S ATTENTION.
Of course Michael Dokes had faster hands then tyson and better counter puncher only fighter i seen to match Holyfields hand speed and catch with triple left hooks
Dokes had the tools, no doubt. Just a shame that he seemed hell bent on self destruction. By this stage of his career his legs were gone but he still had that hand speed. Hell of a fight!
Agreed only fighter to match Holyfields handspeed and counter punch ability but was getting old with bad addiction
I watched this fight about a week ago. great patience by holyfield coz he was hurt too
What a career Holyfield had. Definitely an ATG. So mentally strong as well as well as physically. I'm a Lewis fan, but I wonder how that fight would have turned out if Holyfield was a few years younger.
or a natural heavyweight
Lewus would won easy this hokyroids version
@@Shovelhook
Holyfield would k.o lewis in the late rounds
If we go back far enough, we could have got an Emanuel Steward trained Evander Holyfield vs a Pepe Correa trained Lennox Lewis. We might have even seen that if Riddick Bowe didn't throw the WBC belt in the trash so he could fight tomato cans.
RIP Michael Doke #akronlegend
This is my first Holyfield fight that I ever watched. This dude was in great shape.
1:38 lmao signature holyfield headbutt, damn that was brutal
That headbutt though... 3:35
That was wasn't a head butt. He put his head down for protection. Like most fighters that have any sense do. Get your head on their shoulders, chest or under their chin. See Henry Armstrong.
I forgot about Lou Duva. I loved that guy. What a character
The end of the beginning RIP Michael Dokes😂😂😂😂
Legend...
Holyfeild hook out of sight the first one started from the knee love the way he follows up with his punches set u up with left finish you with right the way u taught in the gym he also fights in a rhythm bouncing on toes opponent can't time u
Holyfield at his best 👌
1:38 nice running headbutt Holyfield. Why am I not surprised.
Threw the head on that KO shot against the ropes -- pretty obvious in slow-motion. That's what opened up that cut beside Dokes' eye, I think.
Holyfield was a tremendous fighter, not taking anything away from him. But he was a dirty fighter, as well, it's just the truth.
Michael Dokes past his prime gave Holyfield a better fight than Tyson Lol Dokes matched Holyfield in hand speed and counterpunching but legs were old
Bad lifestyle caught up with his talents
Dokes got that cut over his eye several rounds earlier. Try again trash...
Real Deal
Dokes was done but Holyfield throwing that last punch over the top of the referee was ill advised.
Day after I was born :D
Was Holyfield ever not in a war?
Michael Dokes past prime gave Holyfield a better fight than Tyson Lol Dokes matched Holyfield in hand speed counter punching but legs were old
Holyfield was already using headbutts back then.
I love Holyfield but the dude was on the juice which taints his legacy and also he kept head bunting Mike Tyson and that why Tyson bit his ear
Garbage.
Ahhh no tyson also headbutts early in career always comes in with his head just James quick Tillis,
Buster Douglas wanted to bite Douglas in the early Rds Frank Bruno, lot's elbows when Mill lane wasn't looking Razor ruddock lots of low blows
France Botha lot's of fouling elbows arm locking to break and choking
Andrew Golota lots of head butts
Roy Jones headbutts
