  • The 1860 Army Richards Mason is an iconic Open Top Revolver. This replica from Taylors & Company is chambered for the .38 Special. It is beautiful blued and is as close as you get to the original in a modern pistol shooting a modern cartridge. This piece would be great to have in your collection. It also could be shot in SSAS.

I have two one is a type ll transitional the other is a Mason & Richards both in 44 colt. I have a 1872 open top in 45 colt. I like the Army grip of the 1860.

I like the 1851 grip frame better than the 1860 and they will interchange. the 1873 uses the 1851 grip frame also. Like all Colts with 6 holes... they are meant to be carried with all six. On the percussion guns the hammer was lowered on a pin between chambers. On the 1873 they simply had a safety notch. all conversions had either or both. in any case both methods are very safe to carry all six loaded.

I found out the hard way you need gunsmith screwdrivers with a conversion, or you will just chew up the flat head screw trying to take it apart.
