36:28 Regarding sending manned resource collecting suits over MULEs… it’s a lot cheaper to replace the human than an entire robot. 😂
Even if that were true, an SCV is effectively a robot with a human in it. You'd reduce computing requirements, but the cost would be putting up with an operator that is far less reliable, far more delicate, and has a _way_ longer list of operating requirements than any computer. Doesn't seem worth it.
Additionally, the idea that humans would be cheaper to replace than robots for a space-faring society is sci-fi nonsense. Easy access to space means easy access to near-infinite supplies of energy, raw materials, and real estate, leaving people as the only economically essential resource in truly limited supply. (And yes, that includes water and vitamins. _The Expanse_ got a lot of things right, but that isn't one of them.)
@@irrelevantfish1978 Adding to your comment, the military also views their soldiers as assets. They are able to put a dollar value on a soldier based on the training that they have received, as a soldier is an investment.
AI, even if not true AI, once trained requires little maintenance and no further training. A human consistently needs to redo training to ensure that they retain the skills.

Regarding the mining with SCVs, the MULEs automation and A.I. are probably rather complex, like what we already see today when talking about space mining, A.I. controlled robots have a hard time coping with "unforeseen events" and lack the ability to adapt to a situation like a human, so when theorizing about colonzing space or harvesting ressources there, it's to assume we need actual humans and not just A.I. robots to do that (at first).
Also, there is that old Battletech saying: "Kill the meat, save the metal!", while the situation might be different, as in technology and manufacturing is sparse, but human operators/workforce is not, perhaps it's in the same vein as SCVs are more expendable than MULEs.

I think you're right. I watched it again and it looked like he got it with focus fire before the mine detonation occurred.
Everything about the terran army counters protoss at every stage of the game...
Vikings counter colossus and the entire skytoss.
Ghosts counter every protoss unit.
But also, everything people complain about protoss is overcompensated by something else. Like protoss can chronoboost their economy to compensate for their units, buildings and tech being more expensive. But terrans have mules to compensate. Protoss units are more expensive but aren't better, they have just weird gimmicks. So protoss are just left with everything being more expensive with no upside.
Game is kind of a joke conceptually.

the reason why there's scv's instead of pure mules, it's because for humans, human life is cheaper than robots. :,)
You need to power mules though. If you think about the cost of say using coal power vs the cost of using human power, human power is often far lower, especially when it is needed in lots of different areas (having to carry your own power around you is heavy and adds to the power required so it’s far less efficient. Humans have been used for this kind of labour for millennia and still are to this day because often it is cheaper to use humans than it is machines, and humans are far more reliable. You can also imagine that similarly to humans, these dudes probably run out of things like coal, and it’s a finite resource. Far in the future that is all used up, and things like solar power etc become a finite resource on a daily basis rather than use it all up and then it’s gone, it will only generate a certain amount a day. Mining is a very inefficient use of that energy, when it could be put to light to grow crops to power humans for labour instead😊 of
