Harrods London is a one off. Sometimes considered the best department store in the world there are 7 floors and 330 departments raging from the food hall to fashion, and even a diamond vault. Some of the most expensive things to buy in the world are available here.
While visiting London I decided to visit Harrods for the first time. 15 million per YEAR visit Harrods and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. In this video I show you how to get there, have a quick look around and give you my honest opinion about whether I think it's worth spending your precious time on a trip to London making your own visit.
Let me know in the comments if you have been and what you thought. Thanks as always for your support.
If you would like to visit Harrods yourself the closest Underground (tube) station is Knightsbridge on the Piccadilly Line.

I booked a blowdry in Harrods only I didn't realise the appointment was before the store opened. Even though the staff greeted us at the door to take us through the building the security were very, very difficult with us including the staff member. I made a point of finding the guard after to tell him I was only interested in getting my hair done and not to nick anything. I managed to get a smile out of him, but it still left a bit of a bad taste.

I mean that would have been the robbery of the century, blow dry and a Rolex .. it’s mad isn’t it? I felt like I was being watched and that they totally knew my coat was from the M&S sale 😂 that must have been quite upsetting because I bet it was the most expensive blow dry of your life!

When I was in my teens (a long time ago) I used to go to London with my parents🙏 2-3 times a year and we would stay at the Strand Palace Hotel (opposite the Savoy) for a long weekend and go to the theatre and would go to Harrods each time. It was amazing😍😍😍😍
It’s not what it was back in the late 70’s early 80’s
Especially things like the Boxing Day Sales
Also when Mohammed Al Fayed bought it in 1985 it started to ‘go downhill’

Creating the memory is priceless though and I’m glad I was able to experience it once ☺️

My Son and I just visited the Uk through January from Australia. I am originally from Uk. We did a few trips into London as we were staying with family in Kent. On our list was to visit Harrods, Liberty, Selfridges. Harrods I basically wanted one of their famous green bags, well when I saw the price of 40 pounds, for a hard plastic tote bag that changed my mind, I ended up with a fold up green shopping bag that I can put in my handbag, that cost me 15 pounds. We looked around some of the floors, but like you, felt uncomfortable, and no point looking around if can't afford anything. I got Harrods bears for my daughters and a Xmas bauble which was on sale. It was good to go there, but we didn't stay very long. Thanks for the video.

oh my goodness the Egyptian Staircase area was divine. I had No Idea. Thanks for showing us; I wish my home town Sydney had something as amazing as that. The architecture of the Harrods building was brilliant too.
But the shopping zones including the food court were just generic spaces with generic merchandise; you could have been standing in any shopping complex in any big city around the world. I agree the shopping side was uninteresting.

We got a better buzz on the underground ( looks just like on 'American Werewolf' ! ) with it's strange warm air draughts & walking round the streets/parks in the evenings.

I Spent quite a bit of time looking for something to get as a souvenir but was gobsmacked by the prices. I wound up taking home a pair of socks, which I have to this day:) I cannot believe they wanted £5 for a plastic bag. They weren't charging for them when I went. I'm planning on doing both. I won't spend a lot of money but I'll spend something.

Everyone has to do Harrods once in their life, but it is basically just John Lewis for people with more money than sense. I last went there about 20years ago. I remember grimacing at a 24k gold plated entertainment set; TV, speakers, music centre, the lot. It was the tackiest thing I've ever seen. Had to take a sneaky photo of it. I still have the photo somewhere. Harrods is just somewhere to go when you've done everything else and you just want a bit of a laugh over the sort of tasteless tat some people will pay ridiculous amounts of money for.

Admittedly it was decades ago, and things may have changed for the better, but Harrods is the only shop I have ever seen cockroaches running around, in the meat hall!

Admire your principles. Not the slightest interest in shopping in places like that. I’d go for the architectural interest but not keen on giving my money away just for street cred. Disgusting they’re still using plastic for their overpriced bags. You’d pay a bit for a reusable but not plastic. Your money was better spent on the coffee 😊

I was lucky enough to visit London and seeing the tube made me remember the smell of the train 😂 and I did go to Harrods and I enjoyed the toy area, took pictures with the large teddy bears but you’re right, it’s expensive. Creating the memory is priceless though and I’m glad I was able to experience it once ☺️

Thank you - and yes. The smell of the tube is ... just "the tube" isn't it? I've been lucky enough to travel on underground trains in other counties but I always expect the smell and it never comes ...
