I work in a courthouse, they have a policy for all hais types and nationalites that your hair must be neat and well kept. There were 2 young men(black and white) with unkept hair and both got letters about their appearance.

      Hello Michebeauty team,
I am Đông, an affiliate partner of yours. During our partnership, I have generated valid revenue and commissions amounting to $1,500. However, recently, my account was locked, and I have not received my commission payment. This has caused significant inconvenience as the costs for marketing and customer acquisition are not insignificant. I hope your team will fairly review my case and resolve the payment of this commission as soon as possible. I look forward to receiving a positive response from you......

No, I don’t let anyone else touch my hair. Touch transfers energy and I don’t know your intentions. That’s a huge issue for me. I’m not an animal in a petting zoo so it’s never an option for me. I don’t let family and friends touch my hair so I DEFINITELY not letting a stranger touch my hair.
I go everywhere with my natural hair. I may do a more elegant updo instead of a bun for certain occasions but it’s always my hair. I get so many compliments on it at more formal events too! I’m all for just wearing my own hair in its natural state every day, all day, no matter where I go or what I do. ❤❤❤

I remember how when I was a kid my mom used to do little braided hair styles and as I was getting older by age 11-12 they would have me go to a salon to get a relaxer to help me manage my hair since I didn’t want to wear braids anymore. Now present day I have EMBRACED my curls soooo much that I don’t really wear my hair straight as often as I used to. At time ppl are shocked ( especially at work) by how my hair is, they see it curly they asked if I cut it or if they can touch it . I don’t mind as long as they are respectful in asking . I have a daughter age 6 and she has curly hair like me but a little bit more tighter curls and denser, I tell her how beautiful her hair is and that she’s perfect how god made her and hopefully as she gets older she will how to embrace her curls and know how to take care of it the right way. My son 13 year old he has curly hair and he is also loving my miche beauty products . I need to order some more .❤

I really like this! I also like this topic. Now I wear my natural hair in a wash n’ go to work. For weddings? Uh…I have worn wigs or had a weave. For my wedding day, my hair was relaxed, but for weddings of my friends, I’ve been asked to wear a straight hair look. I think it’s harder when you’re a bridesmaid in a wedding, with short natural hair. 😅
But I will say this, natural hair is not accepted or praised in my culture. It frustrates me but I have come to understand that women in my family have not been taught to love their natural hair. This has motivated me to encourage my daughter about her hair. It has also motivated me to stop wearing wigs and weaves…nothing wrong with them, but as a mom I see how much my daughter looks up to me.

My last job interview in 2017 was the first one I didn’t straighten my hair for and I was in my 30s. Now these people get what they get. It’s always styled , but in the style I like and I dare you to say something!

Enjoying your podcasts. I returned natural in 2004 when not many people were rocking their natural hair. I big chopped and never looked back.
I started out with cornrows, transitioned to two strand twists and then discovered wng’s. OMG, I was determined to learn how to do a wng. It is now my favorite style. I rocked locs for about 5 yrs and now I’m back to being a loose natural rocking my curls.
I live in Atlanta and we are representing natural hair well down here.
I got married in 2011 and had cut color out of my hair (another big chop). Unfortunately, I wore a sew in for my wedding. I have always regretted it.
I love my natural hair and my curls!

A friend that used to work in corporate, had to wear a wig to be "presentable" in that environment. The other thing, the entertainment industry doesn't have enough black hairdressers to do natural hair. Alot Black celebrities have to bring on their own hairdresser and makeup artists.

It isn’t just black hair stylist’s
It’s the fact that beauty industry and cosmetology doesn’t teach Afro textured hair or natural hairstyles at all…
Which is why EVEN black stylists often won’t know how to do black hair unless their parents taught them or they went out of their way to learn

Here's the funny thing: I've been natural for about 7 years and I love a Wash N Go. I go straight once a year and hubby always says: Aren't you gonna get heat damage? LOL!!!!

Like the podcast , keep em coming .
There was a time if someone asked me can they touch my hair I would be like yes of course😊 but now Noooo not unless I really know u and I am trying to teach u about embracing yours. A random person should not be touching my hair. As for me and my natural curls now I embrace them totally . I don’t care about shrinkage and perfect curls. I really don’t care who likes my hair either. I surely have come a long way from that girl back in 2009 who first went natural and heat fried her hair for yrs. 2017 I decided this is my hair and I ❤❤❤ it.

I am loving these episodes. What gets me is....why are WE the ones to worry about how our hair and/or skin color affects others. Is Rebecca or Sadie concerned with their straight, curly, big hair in the professional space?

Love this podcast! I allow to touch mine to a certain extent. like it was said, people be shocked that natural hair can look so good. If my hair is on its best day, i be like naw jokingly i tell them to just look.
If its on any other day. I allow it until they keep touching.
As far as being presentable, i was presentable while wearing a relaxer so im presentable with my hair being natural. I care about how i look in the world!

Don't care to have my hair touched. Pre natural (relaxed) or natural and blown out I was constantly asked is that your real hair? It was no annoying and offensive. First day on a new job I was asked "Is that your real hair, or do you have tracks?" 😮 that was my first time even hearing that term.

Any/All hair needs to be "Maintained". My opinion on hairstyles for special occasions is whatever one's preference is. I don't feel there's anything wrong with a bride choosing to wear her natural hair straight on that special day and I don't see a difference between that choice and choosing to apply make versus your natural face for that or similar occasions.

If black-natural hair is not professional then that means black people in general are not professional. How can a people reject and disqualify a part of them that is authentically a defining factor of you they are? The self hate has to stop.

    1. I wonder if asking to touch one's hair is a regional thing? I live in Los Angeles. No one has asked to touch my hair. If they did, I would not allow it and I would correct them for asking. Depending on the person asking, I would either be polite, or not. I think people here know by now not to ask the question. Here is the irony - women pay millions to get curly hair and women pay millions to get straight hair. It is a profit driven motive to give women these options and basically make us feel some way about whatever we have already. Somehow, the grass is always greener on the other side. 2. Your other question about straight or natural - I am NATURAL EVERYWHERE, at all times.

I think this is such a crazy thing to even discuss natural hair is your natural hair I don’t see white people debating about whether or not they should go with their natural hair to an interview just makes no sense. I think the thing is is that when you’re living in a country that is not your country You tend to be more aware that you are not from that country and therefore you want to try to adjust your standards to that country but to be honest, they don’t even really care that is the joke so all this wig wearing all this weave wearing if it’s not in an Afro formal to your own texture just makes no sense….always do you . The way you articulate yourself, your resume , and your work speaks for itself.
