    Been watching a gospel guy lately, and he uses "G Am G Am G Am" up & down the neck over this type of groove and it works great also! So if G is the "1"... then the Am is the 2m. If you look at it like G is the V, then Am is the vi.

    Great lesson! One of my "triadic heroes" is Mike Post he used them so well in all of those 80's tv show themes, Hill Street Blues, etc.

    I love that you mentioned The Rover. Thats my absolute favorite song. Could you ever show us how to play it? There arent many lessons on youtube for it.

    I very recently found the epiphany that comes from triads & co-relating them to keys/scales and can say it's the first leap I've had in my playing in ages. Very much a "Oh that's what I've been trying to do".
    Also, with regards to the how to resolve/end on this loop, my inclination (right or wrong) is hit the V chord/triad for a faux power chord like ear grab.

    I've been doing something similar from the start due to learning guitar through the Van Epps method (not recommend BTW). I am excited that more people and instructors like yourself are teaching this.

    You can hear this used in Steely Dan reelin in the years. Same thing but it’s G-A and solo in A mixolydian. Awesome stuff Jeff

      Thanks! The course is pretty nuts and bolts of working though the C F G triads and all the inversions on 3 adjacent string sets. Upcoming courses will take the stuff further but this one is about learning them. Hope that helps!

      It’s a 2016 Michael Landau 1968 reissue. Not Brazilian but a nice dark Indian board.

    G, C and F only happen in the key of C, right? And G mixolydian is the 5th mode of C? So you play in the key of C, but starting on the G note
