  • This video shows how to locate and release trigger points in the Gluteus muscles (gluteal muscles) and explains the connection with sciatica and sciatic-type pain.
Whilst the Gluteus Minimus is a small muscle, its active trigger points can cause extremely painful symptoms.
Trigger points in this muscle are a common cause of "sciatic" type pain. So much so that Dr. Janet Travell referred to the gluteus minimus as the "Psuedo Sciatica" muscle.
Medical Doctors will often be unaware of trigger points and will typically refer patients for MRI scans. When these scans are negative, doctors are often left at a loss to identify the cause of the pain.
Where the cause of the pain is identified as active trigger points in this muscle, the condition may be treated effectively and in most cases quite swiftly, by a trained therapist.
Therapists should be aware that trigger points in gluteus minimus are often part of a broader and more complex pattern of injury.

Good day sir. I actually had a really bad pain in my hip. I thought it was sciatica at first but it seemed to be a tendon issue. Simple things like tying shoe laces was bad. I think it may be because I have been working from home and still for too long. Can that actually happen?

I can't stand it when people called pros don't answer questions. I tried sitting in a chair facing the back of the chair, of course with knees spread. 10 or 15 minutes at a time, daily. It worked for me. Hope it works for you too. Easy does it. Hold onto the back of the chair while positioning yourself and while seated. Breathe easy.

Yep this is one of the main causes when you sit or stay still to long your body needs to be oiled up so try standing and moving more often daily walks daily stretching for hip and lower back I got it when I had no job got super lazy and lied down to much your body gets stiff I went to pick up a fridge and that’s when it first started and I’ve had it since daily stretching for a month for me and daily walks and moving more and 12 sessions of acupuncture helped me get rid of mine but after the pains gone you need to atleast do hip and back stretches atleast 1-2 times a week and when working out a gym belt is a must
