Yeah, a little, but nothing that gets in the way. Still a ton of fun and the fuzzy goes away after a second or two. Havent played this much D3 in a long while

I've leveled to 70 with a Necromancer in handheld and if there are any dips from 60 fps even with tons of minions, corpse explosions and rift enemies, I can't tell. There have been two or three instances where I maybe felt it drop to 50 with insane amounts enemies on screen. And quite frankly, even my GTX 1060 has drops to 50 in those rare situations. These guys did a bang-up job on the Skyrim port, and did even better here. Both are minor miracles for a handheld experience.
but the graphics on the PC version is better than switch it's understandable if it drop to 50 given the resolution of the switch is 980p compare to 1080p to 4k on PC

nintendo always aims for 'last gen+' but the fact they got that, and made it portable, is pretty nifty. id accept this
They only aimed for last-gen+ since the Wii.
Their aim were always "Less is More". The Game Boy, DS, and 3DS had weaker hardware but still managed to beat the competition thanks to a quality game library.
3ds did allot worse then the ds in sales tho and ds had allot more games.

It’s worth it.
GPD Win 2. It's true portable (fits the pocket). Performance is on par with Switch (it plays Doom at 40-50 fps and Witcher 3 at 25-30 fps). You don't have to wait (god knows how long) for the port of six year old game to play it. It has great community sharing configs for different games. It emulates PS2/Wii/GameCube at full speed.
Yes it costs twice as much as Switch but you get all your existing Steam/PS2/GameCube/Wii library for free (no need to pay 60 bucks to Nintendo every time you want to play a game you already own).
it's so great :) best way by far to play on the go, especially regarding confort, why play handheld when you can play tabletop and it's pretty decent at home too :)
i bought D3 Switch, it's good ! local MP on the tablet is pretty fun but local MP with several switch is a great experience :)

I gotta say that THIS is how you release a game. No day 1 patch, great performance, fully featured, and flawless online. Granted Blizzard has had practice with the other versions of the game, but we know that doesn't always translate into results.

You know diablo immortal is an insanely dumbed down version of the normal diablo games so it fits the casual player. Also, there are going to be a lot of micro transactions and online will be required

Havent played diablo in 20 years but this version on a portable has me really tempted i can imagine get easily addicted
It’s a fantastic port/conversion. I’ve been alternating between this and RDR2 on PS4, and I’ve already played through Diablo III multiple times on PC. But playing it on Switch has made me fall in love with the game again.
Rdr2 is incredible. Still to this day, is the best game ever made
This is amazing if you've ever travelled with your switch you will know what I mean. On trains, planes, it's pretty great to have this quality of a game on the go

Not even a day one patch
What an IMMORTAL port!
The game is a blast to play on Switch. Frame rate does go down in a t3 rift with 4 players occasionally (not all the time) but that is the same with PC and the heavy load with all the effects, etc. But it is not a sea breaker. It’s such a great feeling game regardless of platform.
My personal experience so far:
Docked: I played with a friend a few days ago as a combination of Witch Doctor and Necromancer, so we had a LOT of adds and stuff on screen and it felt fluid every moment (our max level was around 50 that day).
Portable (as wizard): Got into a normal rift with about two dozen goblins (various sorts) and had some champion and elite mobs around me and didn't have the feeling that any frames dropped. Today i got my full season set and did some greater rifts at level 20 and the only times i had the feeling that some frames dropped were when there was a lot of fire stuff on the screen.
So far this port is incredible and as a PC player, who put around 500 hours into the PC version, i can say that it's quite a different experience (Wizard is not as precise as with a mouse) BUT it's still an amazing game and so much fun. Didn't regret to buy it once again.

Yes, you can use your "solo" character online and every progression will be saves - so you don't lose any experience or gear.
When Crystal Chronicles Remastered comes out you need to cover it.

Just bought the Switch Eternal physical copy the other day, along with Friday the 13th Ultimate Slasher Edition for Switch, & Maneater on Xbox One. Haven't had the opportunity to even open any yet, but I'm looking forward to it, especially Diablo. It's going to be a good weekend.

the loading times are amazing, there are none basically. This team did an amazing job.
@ Digital Foundry, I got the physical version recently, I can confirm it works straight out of the box, you don't need to download anything really, but you do get the option to download other language packs should you find it necessary .

You know what makes this version so appealing as well.... I insert the cartridge and am instantly able to play, no installs. This helped as I waited for Red Dead Redemption 2 to install 100GBs of data, smh.

Great work DF. This is a very good port of Diablo 3 on the Switch and all the Cart aswell.
Should have tested it with 4 level 70 speedfarming Necros, with 500+ paragon each, through Greater Rifts 70+. That is literally worst case scenario, completely. Far more effects going off than the Wizards, and tanks FPS massively, even on PC's.
After playing with 2 saders and 1 necro at gr 95 I can confirm it stays pretty solid.
Totally solid even in intensely chaotic situations.
Yeah solid 30+ fps just like on the bigger consoles :).
Instead of FPS you will see a timer that tells you when the next frame will be drawn.
GR at torment 13 with demon hunter barrage build = not a single frame from even during heavy barrages and tons of enemies.
Just grabbed my first Switch and made sure I got the OLED.
So far I've got Breath of the Wild, Metroid DREAD, Resident Evil 4, and now Diablo 3.
Looking like a pretty good line up, guess next I'll have to buy an SD card.

Judging on all the good reviews, i doubt Switch Diablo 3 will have price drop in another year or 2.

And had I not gotten Skyrim as a gift, theres no way I'd ever shelled out $60 again for the exact same bugs they still haven't fixed to this day. I'm sure Diablo III is good as it can be on Switch hardware but its just a game I won't pay $60 for again And after you've played the game on PC, it kind of ruins the Switch version for me.
Christopher Scott Your best bet is honestly waiting for a sale. Skyrim was at $35 on switch this black friday. I know that’s a whole year worth of waiting but it’s either that or paying the $60, because I doubt the price will be dropping anytime soon.

Headphones like the "Arctic steel series 3 bluetooth" can connect both to the bluetooth on the phone and the headphone jacked on the Switch and mix the sound in the headphones themselves. Solves the voiceapp problem, solves when someone calls me on the buss and I'm playing my Switch and similar situations.
But yeah Diablo 3 on the Switch is awesome but I get a bit annoyed when sites like this is a bit bias.

Definitely. Even if you've played it before, it's still worth buying. Not as pretty as the console versions but it's my favorite version as I can play it on the go or just laying in bed, like I mostly do.
Sure. Just not on the Switch. Not when you can get a vastly superior (albeit not portable) experience on XBO or PS4 for literally half price (D3 Eternal Collection on Amazon for both platforms is $29.99 at time of typing). Better online multiplayer on both of those systems as well. The Switch version is barely a step up from last gen systems and DF even states as much early on, yet Blizzard wants the full $60 MSRP for it.

If you never played it it's definitely woth. It's a great game very noob friendly, with simple mechanics and smooth playstyle. If you want a game with complexity and diversity, options, etc, then don't buy it.

Played the original Diablo years ago and this port pleases the hard-core nerd in me. Also, as a video editor, I can see why they cut out the bloom effect and toned down the partical effects; those can seriously slow down a computer or console with how much it'd have to render in a short span of time.

@@erichouston14 Why would you choose lower resolution over higher, worse graphics over better, unstable frames over a stable frame rate? 60 fps is necessary for some games but not all which is why I brought up Doom. It needs 60 FPS IMO and yet people still played it so a game like Diablo which doesn't need 60 fps could benefit from 30fps. I bought it on switch and it looks like a mobile game. I think people that say 60 is a minimum requirement for all games are just being pedantic, but that's also why I said we should have the option to pick 30 or 60, so everyone can be happy.

Nice performance overview of diablo on switch. But what I really need is for you to do this for civilisation 6. I can't imagine how it can run well on the switch given how demanding it is on PC, especially those late game turn times! But I am open to being delighted, as the switch has really surprised me so far.

@@melxb Honestly, it does play decent right now for me. Still, performs (and looks) worse than excellent PC ports like Witcher 3 or Mad Max (both games from 2015). But at release, it definetly was one of the worst PC ports ever. Seriously, it was a shitshow.

I had little interest in picking this up for consoles when it initially released because I played enough of it on PC. Having the full Diablo III experience on a handheld like the Switch however, that's a totally different ballgame there. Picking this one up for sure.

Well, to be fair: greater Rifts consumes most of the play time in D3. So the dipps in greater rifts are of concern and not just a rarity. Though it was quiet predictable for the greater rifts to cause perfomance issues (like on all other plattforms).

I agree. Honestly after playing this port, it really doesnt surprise me that they ARE persuing a mobile game now.
Later real usage update - runs 60 fps most of the time until you hit endgame with someone like Witch Doctor with pet build, then most encounters dip to about 30 fps, noticeable choppiness (solo, docked). No option to measure it on my side, haven´t tried multiplayer, but definitely noticeable. Much more stable on my PS4Pro. Still, good port, great to have on portable.

Perfect fit for the switch
A WARNING for anyone getting in to diablo 3 for the first time through the switch thinking that the "worst case scenario" is a small part of the game. Rifts are easily 90% of what you will do in D3, potentially even more. So expect the majority of your gameplay to be spent at sub 60 fps, and looking at the gameplay they showed, that was a pretty tame rift. If you're running a real coop rift comp, say with a pull barb and tank monk, i wouldnt be surprised to see framerates drop to 30 and below.
Credit where it's due to the DF team, you've done what you can with what you know, but the areas where performance suffered arent fringe cases, they're THE main part of the game, and you didnt come anywhere near taxing them to the level that you will see in most gameplay scenarios.

not quite right. if your mother language is another than english and you want that you have to download a ~5,3gb language pack and thats only your selected one. there are... 6-7? listed? each 5gb. still is every TEXT language on the cardridge.
