Jim, you, Steph, Holly and Griffin please have Happy Holidays and much much success and happiness in 2023, TY sir for such beautiful, interesting and education content in your vids this past year. This Chicago guy sure enjoyed them. Take care.
Thanks for the nursery tour. Those Southern Living plants are terrific! I think I have at least one of each. I have started an evergreen collection on my deck, which is as hot as dragon's bresth in the summer. I'm In Wilmington, NC, zone 8a. The Southern Living plants are holding their own.
I had a good chuckle after checking my weather app this morning. Actual temp of 12° but "excellent" air quality. The recommendation was to "enjoy usual outdoor activities" 😂 Lovely tour Jim! Hope springs eternal!
I’ll be looking for that Colorama crepe myrtle! I’m in north central Florida so, like you, I’m kind of tired of them because they’re absolutely everywhere, but that one’s gorgeous. Thanks for the tour!
Kaleidoscope Abelia is beautiful. Mine has every color from yellow to orange to blush pink. And easy care. Barberry plants are about to be illegal in PA. They house ticks, among other things.
I love to see sawdust or rice hulls used, because the other option I see quite a bit is hazelnut shells. I’m deathly allergic, so that means I have to pass on those plants. 🫤 Great video - happy holidays!
Love the look of the Red Diamond flower, but for the sake of growth habit I'd need the Purple Daydream loropetalum. Both are very nice-looking plants that I look forward to adding to my backyard next year. Merry Christmas to you and yours Jim!
Kaleidoscope Abelia, when do you prune it? I got one late summer and haven't done anything to it. Oops, I should've waited till the end. You mentioned on the Miss Lemon when you are going to prune yours, late winter.
I don't mind thorns on things. Orange Rocket is a sterile cultivar. It doesn't set seed. We are seeing a flood of old invasive plants being modified now. Doesn't help what is already out there, but it will keep it from getting worse
Another great video with plenty of “I’ve got to have that” plants. Would you consider a video featuring shrubs (with a few perennials thrown in) that are “salt tolerant”? I live on a corner in a neighborhood with LOTS of dogs whose owners are oblivious when it comes to letting their male dogs anoint my plants. I plan to convert much of my lawn into beds featuring mainly shrubs, many of which you have introduced me to through your videos (thank you!) and would like to avoid any intolerant plants like arborvitae around the perimeter. (Fencing out the “offenders” is not an option, unfortunately).
I am obsessed with orange rocket barberries. Here in New York they Sony sell them, or ship them 👎🏻. I thought they were non-invasive 🤷🏻♀️. I may have to be sneaky & buy a few out of state 🤫🤫🤫🤫

And the list grows longer. 😃
Thanks for the wonderful information.
So wonderful to see a beautiful nursery tour on a cold, windy day! 🥶 Merry Christmas to you, Steph, and Holly! 🎄Stay warm!!!
Merry Christmas!

SO GLAD you filmed at Latham's Nursery - definitely my FAVORITE nursery in my area! Film more often at Latham's please!
Southern Living plants are awesome! Wonder if they’ll catch up with Proven Winners??
PLEASE do a whole video on the sawdust vs herbicides and general mulching!!!
Hello Jim! Thanks for the interesting review. Happiness to you👍🌻💙

I hate plants that have thorns. I ripped mine out and the inside of the woody stem is a crazy fluorescnet yellow.

Are you planning a tour of Metrolina Greenhouses?
I hope so at some point. They have amazing facilities
hmm that nursery is only about an hour away from me. I'm in south charlotte by carowinds Theme park.
🙋🏽♀️🪴I WANT ONE OF EACH‼️🪴THANKS FOR SHARING 🪴
Jim, I thought you disliked barberries. Thorny and invasive?

@@JimPutnam Thanks, I may try a few!

Please don’t for your neighbors sake
Orange Rocket is a sterile cultivar
hate barberries, would never plant one. Live in the northeast, so invasive
This one is sterile.
No barberries for New Jersey, thank you! INVASIVE!
This is a sterile cultivar.
Merry Christmas!
