Guys, we are FINALLY IN! Good grief, this has been a waiting process. But it feels so sweet to finally be in our new home! We should be moving in in just a couple weeks, but I wanted to show you the way this beauty looked when she captured our hearts! We've got some work to do, but she will be shining soon!

OMGosh..the floors, original oak, original, original hardware on the doors, & knobs..the bathroom you just showed should be in Country Living..love the simplistic kitchen cabinets..gorgeous windows, closet space..your porch reminds me of my grandma’s porch..

It is beautiful. We bought and lived in a home built in 1913 that so reminds me of yours. Couple of interesting facts you may or may not know. The old homes had nearly no closets. Every time a door was put in, it cost more and was considered another room. Also, bead board on the ceiling on porches were usually painted a blue/gray color to keep evil spirits away. This was thought in the antebellum era. They felt these spirits could not cross water so they painted the porch ceilings blue. So much history we can learn from old homes.
I always thought it was to trick birds into thinking it was the sky, and to not build their nests in it.
@@KristenHoffman the blue was called 'haint blue', referring to ghosts or spirits (not sure they were bad or not). Milk paint, which was often used to paint the ceilings, had lye in it, which was a good insect repellent too.

i would put a transom window above the door in the ground floor bathroom, and maybe even another internal high long narrow window to let some of the light from the other rooms spill in to the bathroom.

Your walk-in closet was probably the baby nursery. I love old houses and I think you have a good one. I was raised in a 1896 Queen Anne house. Congratulations!

The house has so much potential. I love old houses. I think the dining room was once an entrance or small parlor. I envision the living room as a dining room and one of the bedrooms as a parlor.
The upstairs woodwork and trim is gorgeous. Where will Ivy sleep when she gets older.
Just a suggestion... try the local school especially since it is highly rated. It will give you a break to have time for the baby and help Rosie make new friends.
She will sleep with one of her sisters!

That sunroom was called a service porch. That's where they used to keep the washer/ringer and trash and compost. My grandma had one in Minnesota. Always off the kitchen.

CONGRATS Kristen, awesome tour....as a Real Estate agent I should hire you....love the house and yard. I have had a 1900 house and the charm in them is unsurpassed to other newer homes. Pocket doors are my thing. Used to love a clawfoot tub, Had one and didn't love it. Hot water becomes cold fast, trying to get in and out of it, not great with company using your baths. Anyhow, the yard is where I would be. Enjoy every minute of the new memories....You two did it in a CRAZY market.

You can certainly strip and restore the downstairs woodwork. With only one layer of paint, it will be relatively easy. The original wood was gorgeous!!

I wanted to buy a 1900 farmhouse. I had my heart set on it...prayed about it, but never felt released to buy it. Probably too much work for a widow. I'm so happy for you and your family! Be blessed and enjoy many years in your home.

My grandparents lived in several early 1900s houses. The bathrooms were always added to the back of the house next to the kitchen due to ease of plumbing.
