The face is what strikes me first. It's like Charles is emerging from the background. It is all about the man, not the king. I like it!

Yes, the face with the color of a corpse floating in blood. I can see 8 devilish faces besides the monarch butterfly above his right shoulder. Those who know about symbols know what the portrait of the Woke king means. Well, he said in an interview that he was proud to be descendant of Dracula, and he have a huge state close by his ancestor place in Romenia....

When I first saw the unveiling of the portrait of King Charles, I was firstly Shocked, then followed a mixture of feelings. However the more I see it, the more I like it, standing away from it obviously enhances what is there. Very different but symbolic. Great to see some artists not afraid to step away from the traditional for a change. There have been some truly awful ones of Queen Elizabeth over the years. Thus does not fall into that category. Yes, I like it.

I was, at first, shocked and confused by the painting of King Charles. However, like you, it began to grow on me. It's as if he's stepping out of flames. Perhaps it's saying he's been refined by the flames and made stronger. Not sure, but I think I like it.

Fantastic final day of the Danish state visit to Norway. Loved the diverse engagements and everyone looked great! Queen Mary looked wonderful throughout the visit and showed you can accomplish a state visit in repeat and reworked outfits! Only 1 blouse and skirt was never before seen! Love it! Next up for them and their kids...the Royal Run on the 20th.

Like you Alexandra, i was quite surprised at the portrait of King Charles III at the unveiling -- but ONLY because I was expecting something more traditional and lifelike and ..... boring. That is a fault of my expectations -- not the artist's fault. Like you, the more I look at it, the more I like it. It is not a photograph or a postage stamp. It is deeply thought-provoking.
But unlike you, I really like the inclusion of a butterfly and do not find it "cheesy" at all. I interpret it to be a reference to the King's interest in ecology and the environment. But I think only the King or the artist can say exactly what the symbolism is.

I love the likeness of King Charles in the RED! It’s probably the best I’ve seen of his face in a painting. I love the detail of his red uniform/clothing (it took me a while to actually see it though). I’m less in love with the background being mostly red.

it is an horrendous portrait - the artist seems to have been trying too hard to do something different in royal portraiture, but ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.’ There is an established, dignified, genre and the challenge for the artist is to master and excel within that genre. If I was the King, I would be sighing a sigh of relief that it doesn’t have to hang at Buckingham Palace!

I confess that when I saw the painting of King Charles III I was quite perplexed, and I found the painting frightening. And, I tried to find some information from the statements of its author: the British painter , Jonathan Yeo . Then I learned that: 1. The painting was painted in the presence of the King, during 4 sessions, while the King was dressed in the Military Uniform of the Gallic Guard. Prince Charles was appointed Regimental Colonel of the Welsh Guards in 1970.
    2. The King chose to place a Butterfly on his shoulder representing his long-standing defense of the Cause of Environmental Protection, a note that the King wanted to remain as a message for the Young People of the future. 3. It should be noted that, in the middle of the huge red picture, we see an imposing figure of King Charkes III. Perhaps this combination is justified by yet another justification of the painter about the characteristics of this painting, and I quote, " The Portrait represents exactly who he is, everything he stands for, and everything he's been through."4.
The painting will be on public display at the Philip Mold Gallery from May 16th until June 14th. It will then be on display at Draper's Hall from the end of August, along with paintings of other Monarchs, namely of Queen Victoria . 5. I also read that the Queen liked the painting, and that she made the following comment "Yes, you got it “

    • @jonesnori
      @jonesnori 23 дня назад

@pollycipher, I agree with you. I love the way his face emerges from the background. The butterfly was added late in the process, after the King acceded to the throne, and I think I read that it was the King's idea. Since the painting was largely done while he was the Prince of Wales, he chose to be shown wearing Welsh Guards uniform.

Loved seeing the four Royals at the start traversing through the great outdoors. Made for a refreshing change. As for the portrait of King Charles, I'm not exactly a fan. The portrait was well done and the likeness was great, yet I found that the background being red also, just overwhelmed the painting. I'm an artist myself, not professional but an artist all the same. We will all interpret art in many different ways and have our own feelings about what we see. I thought the word "aggressive" summed up the entire painting well. It pushed the boundaries too much in my opinion. It simply wasn't necessary to contain so much red, as all it did was take over the painting. Many see the colour red as a colour that represents anger and this is far from what King Charles represents. The butterfly was completely corny, but at least it wasn't brilliant red too! I'm sorry, but this is not to my liking as a painting in its entirety.

I do not think art should provoke at all. The red provokes a lot the way he has made it. I do not want to see the portrait because the red color there is like demonds in my perception. I do not think anyone deserves this, and I think it is unfair and cruel with no reason. I mean, when I see the portrait I am scared, and I am not able to view it other way. I do not want to see it at all. Those who look at it as beautiful should remember that the fallen angel was the most beautiful of all of them and he is in the red. The portrait is an open gate for that angel to enter your mind, and that is why His Majesty had that reaction. Please take it away from everywhere. There are people like me that need care for mental health.

I love the new portrait; it’s ground breaking for royal portraiture and stunning. I realize that not everyone shares that opinion. I predict that it’ll create conversation and controversy for about a decade (which is not necessarily a bad thing) and then be viewed as a modern masterpiece by future generations. We didn’t need another royal portrait that looked like every other one. This one has everyone’s attention. I’m happy to hear that you also like it.

The portrait is exciting -not the same old boring painting. However I find some of it odd. The size of his hands in the foreground compared to his head. At first I thought the color signified the artist thought the monarchy had blood on their hands but then I realized his hands were normal in color. It is quite a baffling painting which makes it exciting. The butterfly I thought maybe was a nod to the late queen like she was looking over his shoulder. I just really don’t know about the butterfly. It’s odd. lol

I think the artist captured the real King Charles: wistful, pained, experienced, hopeful, resigned. It's a very unique royal portrait if nothing else! I enjoy seeing the Norwegian & Danish royals together & Crown Princess Mette -Marit looks so fit after her recent health issues, it's lovely to see. The two younger royal couples seem to really enjoy keeping company with each other, I wonder if their children know each other? Hmm...my mind wanders to a possible friendship between Ingrid of Norway & Christian of Denmark someday lol. Lastly, Queen Maxima is one of my favorite style icons & she never fails to knock it out of the park, but I LOVE the green ruffled tiered belted dress that Queen Sonja wore on the boat. She won fashion of the day IMO!. P.S. We are 22 days out from the Grosvenor wedding!

I don’t think the butterfly is cheesy. To me it highlights the fragility of nature which the King has spent much of his life trying to preserve. The only issue I have with the painting is that his ears are not painted correctly, and as a consequence he looks more like his father than himself. The kings sticking out ears are one of his most recognisable features.

Is King Charlie's portrait suppose to symbolize the blood of people who suffered under colonialism and slavery, in addition to the sufferings of the lower classes in the UK? That is what rings out to me. I wonder what his family thinks of it? Definitely, an impressionist and abstract work of art. I think the butterfly represents hope and renewal.

Hi, Elaine, how are you? Well, I hope.🙂💐
Regarding your question, some conspiracy theorists online have said there are "bad Masonic symbols" in the portrait; moreover, if you display the portrait side by side the viewer can see Baphomet.
      It's all silly nonsense.

Oh ok. Thank you for relying. I am very open minded and tbh I'm not so quick to put things down to nonsense. I just watched in full The Royal Grift latest video. Nothing would surprise me. There is a mention of this portrait.

My biggest problem with that portrait is the uniform he's wearing is also red so the whole thing looks horrible. Is like he's just a disembodied head floating

Sorry other than his face, I am not fond of the King’s portrait. It is too red for me. Not a conspiracy person but for me symbolizes evil. Sorry my opinion

About the portrait: maybe if the face wasn't painted to look like it is diseased, I would like it.

    Portrait? Not a fan
I love the Scandinavian royals, they seem so warm. They hug, they hold hands, etc. While the Brits seem not so warm. Very seldom do you them hug or embrace or hold hands.

I really tried to like the King's portrait. His little, red sausage fingers, which he hates, are front and centre. Ouch! An excellent rendering of his head and facial features. All that red stuff is more about the artist than the subject. The butterfly seems like an after thought and a symbol which has been over-used. Meh!

What a strange portrait, for strange times. Hell now is unleash over the earth. The butterfly is change. Everything is changing. A great pain over the world so a new order will be imposed.

    Well, I didn't like it.
At first I saw everything red and I didn't understand anything.
It might be because I don't know anything about art.
But red is annoying, I see it as very bloodthirsty, very rude.
It is a matter of taste and knowledge of art, in itself. If the king likes it, that's fine.
After listening to your opinion, I make some sense in it.
A phoenix that is reborn, but at the same time, ephemeral and a lover of nature.
I think it tries to show the experience achieved during life, but at the same time how short it can be.
In the face of difficulties, a familiar face and a helping hand can help.
Sorry, that's what I perceive from the portrait. As I said, I don't know anything about art, so I could be wrong.
Thank you very much for giving your opinion, it helped me understand something, the image.

The new portrait of KC3 is totally out of the box! :) Charlene's jacket looks poorly tailored. And how many outfits did Mary wore for the three-day visit? I lost account.

      @Izzieq1 25 дней назад +1

Queen Mary wore 7 outfits, only one of which consisted of new pieces. The rest were repeats and her state banquet gown was a rework of a previously worn gown.
