When I see all the wires, chips, and technology- and price point!- I become even more thankful for my beautiful little cafélat robot.
Just wanna say I love the change in presentation, content format and your priceless input to the coffee community, sweetie Lancie pie🥧
So essentially it's a decent 2.5 times the price with most of its crucial features locked behind a limited software, sounds like such a rip off
No it's a light commercial machine with lots of features that's built like a tank and will happily make 50 shots per hour every day for years to come. Try using a decent in a small cafe. You'll see the difference very quickly.
@@gr3g0r5I agree with the build quality and it's capabilities but there's no way you'd want to use this in a cafe. It would be way too slow to easily pump out 50 shots. It's perfect for something like my Roastery where I could dial in all my coffees to show customers what their coffee could taste like, but I would never recommend any small cafe choose a machine like this unless you only expect to have 10 customers an hour. 😅
7:32 The Synesso also doubles as a personal computer. :) Hard to imagine all the electronics and sensors working as intended, year after year.
Meanwhile E61 machines: What are failures?
it reminds me of a printer and i mean this in the worst way possible
@@jfb112697 Old school machines (e.g. Gaggia CP or Rancilo Silvia) don't have electronics unless you add a dimmer switch. :) Electronics and water don't play well together long-run.
$10k decent is INSANE insane
But you can lock in a portafilter with one hand! 😆 That's gotta be worth $6k at least.
I'm in the same boat, the decent does all this and more (other than the fancy steam wand and hot water dispenser) for less than half the price.
That said, you have to pull a lot of shots before even a $1k machine starts to pay for itself. These machines are for people with money willing to chase that last 5% of perfection.
Indecent if you ask me
@@Kiaulen Quality Quality :-) but its a HX, my money goes to the New Slayer SG
@@Kiaulen I can lock in my Decent with a single hand. I don't use the group handle at all
But but ... Watches can go more than this and it shows... Just Time? *_*Ruffles in cheap espresso gear noises*_*
Nice to see another coffee lover from Portugal. I live in Sintra.
Thanks for keeping all these great videos coming Lance!
Perfect, just had my morning latte followed by an amazing nerdy coffee machine breakdown.
Finally! I’ve been looking forward to this video for quite some time. 😊
Wowzers this is a lot of granular information!! Thank you for the great content Sweetie Pie!
This review was helpful in advancing my understanding of pre-infusion.
If you slam the pressure up before the puck is saturated, or leave a puck saturated for too long before increasing the pressure, you will have more channeling.
Sweetieπ! It was cool getting to unexpectedly meet you in Copenhagen the other day!
I'll have to put that on my wish list. Great video.
Sweetiepie, thank you for reviewing, I like looking into how these expensive machines work
Sweetipie Lance, awesome video
One of my pet peeves is the hot water valve just mixing steam boiler with cold water. This one seems so much better. And I’m sure less scale build up on the tip.
Please make some videos on the topic of Organic Coffee. ☕️
Now you need a Sweetie-Pie on the shelf behind you during you're next video, as an Easter egg. Great video, love the long form tech innovation related content. 😁
I’m watching this video while brewing an espresso on my Rancilio Silvia. 😁
(With an added thermometer it’s reasonable capable).
Incredible Machine. Kudos to Synesso! 33:03 reflects my hope as well…although I fear that the unlocking of features will cost extra or will be part of a monthly or yearly subscription. Anyway, thanks Lance for this once again great video and thanks Synesso for the ES-1. I cannot wait to get my hands on it and pull some shots.
Can you run back to back shots continuously? I'm looking for a backup machine for a cafe. Thanks!
It just doesn't seem worth it over a Decent in any way- for double the price.
Even the new Bengle saves you $4000.
Unica feels more interesting to me for that kind of money.
In a commercial setting this would allow for espresso and steaming at the same time, and the steaming is also faster and dryer than a decent. For home it doesn’t make all that much sense to have big boilers with really old water in it
the manifold is a really cool idea
Hi sweetie pie! I really enjoyed this, thanks for demonstrating all the interesting bits and bobs this machine can do! I could never afford it, but super interesting to see!
I would love to see a review on the Outin Nano Portable Espresso Machine, I’ve been seeing more and more on those lately
do you know the maro model 1? This one remembers me kinda about the maro, but its half the price.
Wow, this is a huge heatexchanger boiler. And, my household electronic bill will be massive if I use it daily at home.
I like the technology of Synesso machines. But for this price point, I would consider other machines.
Yeah it really doesn't make sense in a home setting. I'd use this in a small cafe or a restaurant.
Finally during last WoC in Copenhagen Slayer presented EP1 with built in water reservoir. Should be in production starting from october. So, no more external water connection. Thank You Slayer!
I asked and I received. Thanks lance
Which single group would you buy to a small coffee shop?
Personally, the Ascaso Baby T, mostly for the looks.
Lance WHAT BRAND ARE THOSE BROWN COFFEE CUPS 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Will you review the MaRo Model 1?
If I would spend 10k on an espresso machine, I would add 3k and buy a Kees van der Westen. Quality, Looks etc. are unmatched in my opinion and it´s not even close!
Of course it´s a different target group, coffee nerds that love to experiment would go with the es1 I guess :)
I mean… the Spiritello has some nice features though
@@nissanguy16 I know, that’s what i‘m saying. It’s better in every way except for experimental Espressos where the tablet just has the edge in terms of trying different things imo. Could be wrong though. Didn’t work with either of them 🤷🏻♂️
Doesn’t mean the spiritello has less nice features just different ones. The Lever Group f.e. is great! I would pick the spiritello any day of the week
Having a 10k machine that you actually have to fill with water is insane.
Knocking on slayer price there
You can also plumb it in like a Slayer
Love how these innovations are happening which later could become more mainstream technology!
lmfao, this shit will be obsolete in a year and the E61 will still be rocking
46 minutes of lance breaking down a cool machine? Sign me up, brb need a cup of coffee and a snack for this one 😁
Nice video sweetie pie (I will never be able to afford this machine, but it's interesting)
Superbly educational video. Thank you for your work.
Sweetipie There is a possibility that at some point you would like to test the La Spaziale S1 DREAM, it is an old machine but it still looks exciting ^^
This thing looks crazy, and cool tech....I really don't think I can get much better espresso than my flair 58 though. I really like my flair.
This feels way more positive than the Sanremo You review, yet the machine seems worse at all of the things you criticised the You for.
Don’t comment much but The little baby decent line gave me a good chortle.
Thanks for the video!👍
I'm not convinced by this machine, especially not for this price!
My Rocket R Nine One cost half as much!
I don't think it's any worse, I'm very happy with it anyway!👍
Since it's connected to the mains water supply, I can supply my Americano with hot water at the perfect temperature!
This is controlled by a mechanical mixing valve, but whether that's worse than controlling it with PID and a display is up to each individual.
I think the Unica Pro is a better machine. Tempted to buy one. Need to sell my Strada EP1. Unless you want it to do a review on it Lance. Sweetiepie
So lets say you have unlimited money do you buy this one or The Manument lever machine?
Or you could buy a Flair and teach yourself to feel water flow into the puck and its back pressure.
It took me about 1,000 pulls to get it down so I can adjust on each pull.
If I want more, I would possibly first want a machine that can temperature surf during an extraction, not that I know what to do with that control.
Id stick with my acs evo2 and possibly waste a bit of money on a de1 to play with.
curious to hear your comparison to Slayer!
How does this $10,000 machine differ from a $9,000 unit? I wonder what's in that last $1,000?🤔When do "diminishing returns" become no return at all?
Even the fucking Linea Micra "only" costs Like 5k
Brother, $1000 buys you an espresso machine the espresso of which you will not tell apart from a $9000 machine in a blind test. This is just gear-mania for your ego
@@user-qt5xh9mt7x 1k is a Bit Low unless its Like the sage dual Boiler. I think From 1,7 onwards you get the heated groupheads that i think will give you Home Espresso that you can barely Beat by spending more money
@@user-qt5xh9mt7x If you're dripping with money to the extent that $10,000 is pocket change, here's the machine for you, I guess. Usually, that kind of person is the one who extorts money, not the other way around.
@@yorulaney8563$3,900 for the micra. The mini which is a semi commercial monster is $5900. I agree, this is highway robbery. In everything, (wine, bourbon, grills) at some point it’s not worth the money.
FAT32 USB update stick? It really is a Windows PC in a coffee machine box.
Yeah but can it play doom?
Still waiting for that Strietman ct2 review ;)
good job. thx
Ascaso Tone? What's that?
good stuff
Software updates by USB on a 10K machine is pretty disappointing. Also getting access to the USB port maybe a pain depending on your space.
That’s disappointing, one of the things I enjoy about my Decent is when they push over the air updates and features. It’s nice to know a team of engineers is working in the background to improve the machine over time.
@@dannyquiroz5777 same with my Linea mini. I was looking to get an Es1 however it didn’t get released in time during late 2022. Also it seemed to take up more width in space.
I do like some of the innovations on this machine, however I agree with others at this price point, looks do matter.
Thanks sweetie pie*
*Lance told me to say that.
Thanks for the Vid Sweetie pie lance
For $10K, it SHOULD come with a Standart mag subscription
Next episode, Lance will be reviewing replicators and the coffee they create. The future is here.
How does it compare to the Unica Pro? Which machine do you prefer?
Unica pro
@@LanceHedrick Nice :) thx for your reply. I have the same feelings. Especially its easier to get in Germany. But of course double price than a decent etc...
The argument for boilerless machines is to use the freshest water possible for taste, etc. While in principle that may be right, is this a problem that doesn't actually exist? As in, if we compare coffee brewed with fresh water versus fresh water reboiled several times in a boiler (so negligible changes in mineral content or gases), could we actually discern differences in taste? I think not... perhaps test this hypothesis in a blind study?
With the decent, the trend is towards RO or distilled water anyway, since there aren't the brass components inside to corrode. If you want the minerals, you re-dose post brew.
@@potkettle That would increase what is extracted, both good and bad.
@@TomJones-tx7pb Interesting, the original thought was that some of the minerals should actually assist in extraction, but tasting results suggest the difference is imperceptible.
** laughs in La Marzocco** 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'm surprised to see a gicleur in a machine with active flow control. Do you have a sense of why Synesso has put the gicleur in there at all? Does it play an important role in a machine like this?
The way the machine seems to be laid out, pressure control and measurement are located in the manifold on one side of the gicleur, and the group head is on located the other side. With the gicleur in between, there will be a pressure drop across it that's proportional to flow rate, so at low flow rates, the pressure in the group head will be very close to the target, but at higher flow rates the indicated pressure will be higher than what's seen at the group head. I think this is why you saw 7 bar pressure indicated, but no pressure measured at the group head when it was wide open.
But, I've had other machines with gicleurs that accurately read backpressure. Likely due to measurements being taken from beyond the gicleur. Not sure why I didn't think of the fact pressure is taken before hand
@@LanceHedrick I think you answered the "why" in the last 10 minutes of the video as well. With pressure control, flow rate is determined by resistance in the water path, so when there's no puck resistance, you'll see very high flow rate--i.e., high water debit. If Synesso sees this as an issue, adding a gicleur "solves" the problem, but it also means pressure control won't be accurate at high flow rates. For someone who doesn't mind high water debit and wants accurate pressure control for fast-flowing shots, removing the gicleur would probably be a good option.
Nice, but I bet it won’t outperform a Meticulous 😎
Gotta ask, apart from people who have a random $10k they were about to light on fire, who is this for? I mean its a nice looking machine, but the price point.. oof.
On the plus side it does sound nicer that a decent so that has to be worth 5k extra 😘
you could bankroll your kids lives if you design and put a machine on the market by next year.
people really paying 10k for a freaking coffee machine is insanity.
One word for you….slayer
I suppose if I had unlimited funds and space, it would be fun. But a Cafelat Robot + $9500 of fancy coffee sounds better. I mean, at the rate I drink, it's at least 8 extra years of happiness.
It’s not about the price, it’s a company wanting to ruffle its feathers.
I say good job 👍🏻
I know this video is about espresso, but I couldn't get my eyes off the raisins--said with love, Sweetieπ
As a person who might die someday this is my last wish before death to see a review of "Kees van der western - Spiritello" From you oh the Messiah of the coffee religion. After that I can Live & Die happily.........
Waiting now for chinese machine modded with arduino, thats capable to fully replace this machine 😂😂
Sweetie pie and latte❤
first time I'm this early!
Nice video, ridiculous price for a machine, there are others out there that do more for much less
So if you are just about fed up with running a empty shot on your Simonelli Oscar, you know who you are....that you plopped $700 for, and you cannot be bothered with that temp adjustment purge that takes all of 3 seconds....THIS is your answer! Ya, its $10,000 , not $700. But in 20+ years time, you would have saved dozens and dozens of gallons of water.
Sweetipie!
That’s a lot of dosh sweetiepie 😂😂😂

you should review the Londinium R24 next :)
I think he should never review Londinium again after the way he was treated. The owner of that company is actively hostile. He bad mouths owners who use the machine "wrong", like if they were to brew turbos.

$10,000??
I don’t see how this compares favorably against the Decent.
Its almost 2 1/2 times the price with significantly more limited features and locked in to the manufacturers software

Isn’t it weird that the tea water spout has a plastic tube connected to it with hot water coming through? Even if it was “food safe”, I’d feel safer having hot water go through a metal tube
If you notice, all the hot water passes thru a similar food safe plastic.
