Is Ecuador Safe to Visit? 2024
I have just spent the past month in Ecuador (Mid-May to Mid-June) 2024, and I often get asked by friends if Ecuador is safe to visit.
I can only share from my experience so I will share about my month in Quito, Mindo, and Baños as I lived and worked at setting up a July Wellness Refresh & Reset trip in Quito and area.
I stayed in an apartment (AirBnb) in the La Carolina area of Quito. I used public transportation (local bus, taxi, Uber, and Metro [Love the metro!!]) and it was a great experience. I felt safe and comfortable.
I took normal precautions at night like I would in any large city to not be wandering the streets but I went out for night life and used Uber to get back and felt comfortable walking around Iñaquito back to my apartment near La Carolina.
I spent time all over Quito in parks and the Centro Historico (love this place!) and felt safe. No issues. No fear of gangs or violence or anything. I had a GREAT experience.
I also took the bus to Mindo and Baños and had no issues. Both these places were even more comfortable than the big city. I was out walking the streets at night and thoroughly enjoyed the people and the places in both locations.
That’s a wrap on my personal experience and answer to the question about whether Ecuador is safe to visit in 2024. I can only speak to the places I’ve been but I love it and I’m going back for a longer stay!
