- In this video, we will show you and your child around the hospital. This will help your family know what to expect on the day of surgery. You will see pictures and videos of the preoperative (before surgery) room, the operating room and recovery (after surgery) area. You will learn about how your child will fall asleep. You will see what it’s like going back to the operating room. We will cover what your child may experience in the recovery area. This video is designed for children eight years and older because it shows what it will be like if your child needs to get an IV before surgery. We hope this video will help answer your child’s questions so they won’t be worried on the day of their surgery.

I had some scary experience and t th ey wanted me to hve an IV before going into surgery so I used my vita and the video I had worked. Parents please take this advice if you or your child is hving surgery these devices are far more amaing then I thought.

That was a great video, very informative and the most easiest way to let kids know or have an idea of what is about to happen.

I'm still scare
I'm watching as I had surgery wen I was younger on my elbow as I broke it and I'm having knee surgery and I'm scared lol 😂
How was your knee surgery? What was wrong with your knee? What do you remember from the experience?
They ask you about your medical history and surgical history
It looks like they use a "freezing spray" to numb the vein. Cold usually makes the veins go away or shrink. I wonder why they just don't use the numbing cream or patches like in many other countries and some hospitals in the states? The kids feel nothing and usually don't even feel afraid if they're usually a hard stick.

Freezing spray works better
I use EMLA cream for blood draws and IVs, which works great!
@@lauraeager373 me too! We used it for some stitches before we used the xylocaine! I used it for myself when I was on home antibiotics and started my own IV’s. I honestly don’t know why it’s not used more readily for all ages! I suggested it for my mother in law’s friend’s adult son before he got his vaccine because is needle so needle phobic and he said it was excellent!
