  • I was delighted when Natalie Kelly of Drogheda Dolls asked me to be involved in this heart-warming project to send a message of support to RTÉ's Charlie Bird, who has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.
    Natalie writes:
After I saw the interview with Charlie Bird on the Late Late Show, like the rest of the country, I couldn’t get Charlie out of my head. I really wanted to show him we are thinking of him, so I had an idea … this video is the result ! It took a few weeks to plan, 131 children from St. Paul’s Senior National School and St Nicholas GFC,almost a thousand tea lights on Highfield green overlooking our gorgeous town of Drogheda, hundreds of stones on a cold winter's morning at Port Beach at high tide, a top-class, very patient cameraman with a drone, Anthony Murphy, and a little love and kindness thrown in the mix❤️.
I hope you know we in Drogheda are with you Charlie Bird - every step of the way. You've got this 💪!
There is a book in St. Nicholas GFC that you can sign when you complete 14km in support of Charlie’s climb. We also have €1,000 to give to Charlie from our Christmas fundraiser with St Nick's GFC.
We wish you nothing but love, strength and positivity Charlie, from all of us in Drogheda ❤️.
