One of Jimmy's best! The Presence album is so underrated.
I ate that album up! I was 15 years old, had long hair, and girl friends all over the united states back then. Well, some of them weren't even from here. ha ha
You got that right. I wore that 8-track out back in the day. Never understood the negativity about it.
Tune!
My favorite
My favourite LedZep album....dont care about negativity...just cant stop playing it on and off for nearly 25 years since I picked up the vinyl for 10 bucks
Jesus - Jimmy is a riff factory. Love hearing rare live songs. Always hear something new. Love the inversion of the second riff back to the first - time change master
Page at 90 will still kick everyone else's butt.
Bonham's drumming on this is some of his best work and this guy nails it.
Man. This is some badass fucking shit, the fact that they pulled this off live.
PRESENCE!!
The studio version is one of the best songs they recorded.
Got a few forgotten gems, Presence does. Tea for One is brilliant. "For your life" is close to my all time fav. (Stoked when they played it live at Celebration Day).
This is the only Led Zeppelin song to contain the word "fuck"
@@orgoniteyahgoniteaustralia6888 Trampled doesn't say shit, it says 'push it'. There is no other swearing besides 'fluck all' from this song.
Very good version of a tough track to play live!
Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes!
It doesn't get any better!
Magical performance, Jimmy looks so happy.
I saw Zep in '77 and also Page/Plant. Can never get enough!
This song EXPLODES!
This is amazing. I'm really impressed with the job the Black Crowes did with Led Zep's songs (I'm a die hard Zep fan). Having Jimmy there as well, wow, words can't describe how cool that is. It's also fantastic they played songs even LZ themselves wouldn't play live, like this one here.
Jimmy is the greatest guitar player of all time nobody even comes close 👍👍👍👍 presence is zeps hidden gem as is album 3
Fantastic! On all levels!
Too young to have seen Zeppelin, but I did see this show & loved every second of it!
The riff is cool and very vicious too . Jimmy page rules .
That was Fantastic !! I was lucky enough to see a show from this tour at the Tweeter Center in Massachusetts. Jimmy was completely on his game during that tour !! Spot on. So were the Crowes. Glad I saw them. They did TONS of Zeppelin and Black Crowes. It was a Treat man !! Frikkin Sweet !!
ive waited so long to c footage of this song being played live..even though its not all of zeppelin, the black crowes did a great job, and Jimmy is just perfect.
the best song in the album Presence
That would be Achilles Last Stand, the greatest hard rock song ever written.
This is the best song from the most underrated album
I liked "For Your Life" and "Nobody' Fault but Mine" the best, but the whole album is great.
ONe of Zeps greatest underestimated trackS!!!
DUDE! This is SO awesome!
Thank you for posting!
Since Zeppelin never did this song live in concert, this is the next best thing I guess.
@@saleconomos473 because none of them on stage do much vocals that much other than Rich. Not sure who the bassist was at this point but it wasn't Sven (who does do occasional backup vocals), maybe Andy Hess?
Jimmy is on a league of his own!
Terrific live
jimmy sounds fine!!
ILYAAFS☀️
Unbelivable perfection, many thanks for this excellent post!
That show looked like sooo much fun.
Those guys are Stoked
I love the Black Crowed and Jimmy Page
Wow
Presence is my fave Zep album so this is killer with the Page guitar army. Jimmy opts for a muscular solo without the whammy bar freak out of the record-Love it!
what's wrong with the "whammy bar freak out" ?
great singing by chris, thanks for sharing
The best playing Jimmy did post Led Zeppelin
Jimmy was back to his early 70s approach to live guitar playing guitar not slung near as low , standing back from the front of the stage and staying very close to the drummer and standing quite still just focusing on his playing and it worked great for him in this era just like it did in the early days of zeppelin I noticed when he started to sling his guitar very low and become much more animated onstage his playing suffered because of it but he had a visual aspect in mind for zeppelin and the low slung guitar and dancing rock guitar God was part of the zeppelin mystique in the mid 70s. I don't know how he was able to be so animated when he strapped on the double neck. On the 77 tour he played the double neck on the opening 2 songs and the way he ran around and danced and jumped is insane to watch .
His playing went downhill fast when he became a heroin addict. That's more of a reason than wear he slung his guitar. No matter where it is, you adjust to it.
That was awesome.
This Performance needs a Bonham :'(
when and if we get to heaven it will be a rock fest!!!!!!!
Man, I wish LZ had rocked consistently this hard...helps to have three guitarists..lol..bad friggin ass!!!!
Was there, awesome night......
Page brings out the best in everyone he plays with,AND he's almost 70.
No he wasn't. He was in his mid-fifties here.
@vdbdg Jimmy does look happy and great selection of songs he did w/ the Crowes! The Crowes look heavenly happy too!
grandioso
So much for sloppy jimmy he can nail it when wants or not when he wants rock on jimmy
And that is how you play Rock n Roll.
Just right :-)
Wow.
@varone6t9 well there's your answer, jimmy is happy to play a song of led zeppelin that never been preformed live before aswell as doing it with a another band. I love this song.
The singer did so well in this song, because robert plant was very random on his takes, and this singer nails it
Nice cover..but nothing on the original.
Lucky you, "only" saw Page and Plant, in 94 and 98, and...WAOUW ! :-)
Sick
That was fucking AWESOME!!!
wow
Bad Ass!
I live just 40 minutes from Jones Beach Amphitheater!!!!
HOW THE FUCK....DID I..... MISS.....THIS CONCERT!?!?!?!?!?!
Now that's a show.....
The best part of these Crowes/Page shows: 1) They played great songs like this that rarely receive radio airplay. If I hear God damn "Stairway To Heaven" (what Plant calls that damn "English wedding song") one more time on radio when I think "Achilles Last Stand" is clearly a better song....... 2) Because of having 3 guitar players on stage, the band were able to cover (most of) Page's innumerable guitar overdubs. As Jimmy said one time, "Ten's Year's Gone" (another tune I like better than God damn "Stairway To Heaven" (what Plant also calls that "nice little cute English folk song")) never sounded so good guitar wise because the song has about 15 gazillion overdubs on it. These concerts were able to fill out the sound. I wish they have played a couple of tracks from the ITTOD period like "South Band Suarez," "Ozone Baby," and "I'm Gonna Crawl," even if Page had lesser involvement with that period of Zeppelin.
Absolutely agree Matt...Achilles, and 10 Years Gone are classics...and Hots On is a great song..of course this isn't as good as the original...no Plant, Jones and Bonham!..but I kick myself in the ass for not going to see them this show at Jones Beach. I saw Zeppelin in June 77 at MSG, and I remember telling my friends, who were going, that I would only go to see a reunion of Zepp...big mistake!!..I watched the whole show on RUclips and they kicked ass and played an excellent setlist..Wanton Song, Out on the Tiles, etc...I read that Page said that was the most fun he had playing 10 Years Gone because of 2nd guitar.
How did I miss this?
I can Die Now!! That was a fekkin great job!!!!!
It's Lalala lala ! No nanana
Surprised Jimmy doesn't have scoliosis from playing Les Paul's for so many years.
led zeppelin ju nikdy nehrali na zivo, pri tom je to super rockova skladba.
Never had the chance to see ZEp, but saw P&P in 94 and 98, and waiting for the O2 DVD on monday !
In love with Zep, but a little bit more with Jimmy :-)
Awesome setlist! Can you post In tne Light
it was 20 years ago today...
Chris Robinson is so happy to be on stage with Jimmy. Such a shame what happen. Between the band and Jimmy.. Honestly can't believe I missed those shows...
I missed it. What happened that is such a shame?
@@porkturtle8321 From what I recall the band disrespected Jimmy.. And left him hanging..
A John Paul Jones fan here. He wanted to play with Jimmy before Robert and Bonzo were on board. I'd like to (respectfully) pick his brain on bass and Zeppelin.
No, this is nothing on the original, but looks like it was fun to try.
Just a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle faster fellas.
Hell yeah,to me The black crowes singer could feel in for robert plant nowadays. Id rather have him than old robert now.But back in the day definatly robert.
This is great, only issue is the miking of the drums - too muffled !!
@p0llenp0ny funny how theres Bonham and then theres everyone else...
Hmmm.....Chris is singing behind the beat. Robert sang just a hair in front of it. Maybe I'm being too harsh but to me it just seems to drag waiting for the vocals to catch up.
Chris sounds a bit tired and under pitch here.
Wish it was bonham behind the kit.
Page just had too much swagger for those kids.
Zeppelin should have played this in the 77 tour .
Good thing they didn’t play in 77 page was off his game a little live put this is one of my favorite songs this and for your life , presence was a underrated album . The epic Achilles last stand awesome.
@GrantGuides Same thing happened to me. I almost shit my pants.
Not abig fan of the Black Crows, but this is pretty good.
this was july 10th at jones beach i was there the roseland show was better
this was july 10th at jones beach 2000 i was there the roseland show was better
I just can't like without Robert on vocals... :(
Looks like this music was made for him!
Cant replicate bonzo no matter what
That singer should replace Robert Plant, keep Jimmy, keep Jon Paul Jones, and I would have said keep that drummer that toured with Robert and Jimmy in their unleaded dvd.
+Sage Mantis You understand that Plant worked a lot on the vocals/lyrics (no shit right?), therefore Led wouldn't be Led without Plant..
Page jpj john Theodore and the robinson Bros would be an awesome band
Sounds great, but maaaaaan......Nobody has the groove, feel that Bonham had with this.
obviously Jimmy is not sloppy here or any other live show -minus the "H"
niterbum- Jimmy was always one of the best. The other, to me of course, would be Peter Green.
Why does the singer always sound flat in every single performance?
try dave groll bio on bonham with carmen appice, bonzo's sister, and all the people played with him, not those who play "like that". plant & bonham communicated in ways comments like "lose robert" have no grasp , at all
Jimmy looks a little burnt....and Chris is singing flat all the way thru.....but what a great tune, done by a great band.
@vdbdg
Jimmy looks like Elon Musk’s older brother. 😅 Deep Fake THAT. 🎉
Jimmy ran from the Black Crowes. wonder why?
I wish Jimmy could play without Led Zeppelin. I mean that solo made me sad...
Jimmy was very rarely ever the guitar wizard that he was back in the day. I know, because I've attended 3 of their concerts in the 70's. ( I'm also a "retired" highly seasoned guitarist/blues harp/singer/perfectionist stage performer and covered tons of Zep tunes over the decades. ) But there is one exception: When Page & Plant toured behind their "Un-Ledded" production on MTV.......about 40 of us from Melbourne Florida took a fleet of vans & hopped over to Orlando to catch their live show. Honestly, we all thought we were simply "paying homage to a half-baked effort" with only 2 original members of Zep. WRONG!!! They shocked the living shit out of the whole crowd!!! Sure, they played a lot of what was on that MTV concert, but then they stripped down to only 5 members, and proceeded to SHRED so many old & great Zep tunes, AND NAILED THEM ALL. I have no words to accurately depict it. BOTH PLANT AND PAGE PERFORMED IMPECCABLY........and Jimmy was using 2 "Matchless" amp heads on 2 half stacks with his #1 LP and his other LP......and HIS TONE WAS THE ABSOLUTE BEST I EVER HEARD ANYWHERE, FROM ANY GUITAR, FROM ANYONE, IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!! And everyone else agreed. JIMMY PAGE WAS ON FIRE THAT NIGHT. ( early mid 90's ).....They played for well over 2 hours & even did stuff from albums "Houses of The Holy" and "Presence", to name a couple. And so much more. IT BLEW AWAY WHAT PAGE EVER DID WITH THE BLACK CROWES. I was in a van with 8 people & on the way home, we would turn on the stereo, playing CD's and radio, but every time, after about a minute, we would all look at each other & shut that fucker off. Because NOTHING could even touch what we just witnessed & experienced. Page & Plant shoved it down all our throats and made us LIKE IT. They were THAT GOOD. Of course that was probably about the last time Page ever sounded even close to that good. Even Plant's voice was strong that night. I will never forget that show as long as I live......and I'm 57 now.....Hands down the best concert I ever attended......and remember, I saw the real Zep 3 times years before. The drummer they had at the time, I can't remember his name, did a fantastic job of copping Bonham's work. He also died a while back, at a young age too. What a shame. I forget his name, but he was one of the best drummers alive at the time. He's the one playing drums on their MTV "Un-Ledded" concert.
Michael Lee
Just to pick up on the matter of Jimmy's tone. Having heard him live several times the thing that jumped out was his tone (and accuracy). His delivery was spot on. Given that tone is the one thing guitarists seek above in, this is what makes him one of the greatest. It doesn't hurt that he was a great songwriter and producer too!
@@howabouthetruth2157 man, i envy you. I'd kill to see the whole band live. And yes even though I only saw it on youtube, page and plant shocked me as well. Because after seeing jimmy play with aerosmith and all, I expected it to be bad
@@alexhighfield1891 I remember in the 90's when all of the guitar magazines were ridiculing Jimmy "for his tone" on the original Zep studio albums........Now they all strive to GET that tone. Those jack asses back then thought "shred crunch" was "the magic tone"........what bullshit. Guitar tone really comes into it's authentic identity when ya back OFF all of that un-needed distortion. There's a fine line there. And I'm speaking from first-hand experience as a long time player/performer myself. Page really knew what he was doing.
Drummer is good, but his balls are no where near as big as Bonham's were.
Love his singing on these songs but he has said some dumb things about Plant.Makes no sense, then again just cuz he's a great singer and performer doesn't mean he cant be a d bag.
Love him too and yes- he still IS a dirt bag.
Not bad, but still very far from the original's grandeur, mostly due to weak vocals and bassline.
Great performance by the band but the singer is alway flat
