How do you get so creative with how to combo all these different moves? I either rely on the same muscle memory combos or freeze up not knowing what the hell to do.

I've been slowly trying to do this, this dude inspired me to do so
I recommend you especially to practice that "freeze" mentality to be out
Just start experimenting real time! Little by little you'll find ways to see how to combo at certain distances, moves and all of that
I main Dicktor, and sometimes my combo wouldn't end properly because I was relying too much on a single one
Little by little, I've been able to do everything better and more consistently because I could see what moves were better fits for what sotuations
Just don't stop, rather keep doing damage, you'll eventually start making proper ones
