Nice video thanks for taking the time to do it. A few questions, can you buy right or left triumph replacement grips only or do you have to buy the whole thing? Also do you need to disconnect the battery for this install?
I’ve only seen them sold as a pair from Triumph dealers or online retailers, but I imagine that you could always call up a dealer and ask about buying individual grips. Might depend on if there is a separate part number for each grip or one part number for the pair. You probably don’t need to disconnect the battery to do this. But I happened to actually read the instructions on this one, and it said to do so. I just installed heated grips on a T100 a couple of weeks ago and forgot to disconnect the battery. It turned out fine. I’ve also blown fuses and had other minor catastrophes when not disconnecting the battery, so better safe than sorry when you can remember to do so.
I thinking of getting these grips on a trident but in concerned that they won’t be hot enough, compared to the Oxford heated grips at a fraction of the cost.
Fair point about price difference. I did get a discount on mine as they were bought when I bought the bike. But they were still way more than a set of Oxfords. Personally, I really like how clean the Triumph grips look. The button is small and inconspicuous, and the indicator is integrated into the TFT display. But I have heard that the Oxfords get hotter. Where I live the Triumph grips get hot enough for me. Haven’t have any experience with Oxfords though, so I can’t compare enough to say for sure.
Yes they are. TEC has a website/distributer in the U.S....California, I think. These are the mirrors I got: www.tecbikepartsusa.com/TEC_Clamp_On_CNC_Round_Bar_End_Mirrors_w_End_Caps_p/t-cnc-mir-ec-wc-b.htm The Triumph mirrors are nice but they are twice the price of the TEC mirrors.
@@jrobrides1340 Great info. I don't know how I missed the USA site but thanks for pointing me in that direction. Yeah, the mirrors are half the price of the Triumph's. Do the mirrors also have Tec's logo or is inconspicuous? BTW, I have the Jet Black on order since last week and can't wait.
Yeah. It's easy to miss. Google just takes you to the UK site. Also, the US site has a more limited selection of parts compared to the UK. No logos or marks of any kind on the mirrors which is nice. I almost got the Jet Black. That red/silver stripe on the tank is cool.
I noticed you also changed the levers. From the reviews I checked out prior to getting the bike, a main complaint was the clutch lever was not adjustable and the throw required too many fingers to pull all the way to engage. Many reviewers ended up getting the TEC black adjustable levers, did you get the same? and when will you be posting a "full-ish" review of your thoughts on the Trident?
Thanks again. Yeah, I went with the TEC levers as well. Been really happy with them so far. I did discover that they still needed to be on setting 3 or higher for the bike to be able to smoothly shift into neutral. I suspect that the long-throw and non-adjustable lever was by design as the clutch has a very large and beginner friendly friction zone. But I recommend the TEC levers 100%. I am currently working on a video for why I chose to buy a Trident and will do a 500 mile review/overview soon.
@@jrobrides1340 excellent look forward to the review, I got a set of the TEC myself, surprised at the price for the great quality.....now i just have to wait for the bike. it seems everyone has these bikes available except Canada, pre-purchased a while ago and so far the dealer got 1 bike in so far this year...hearing the induction whine of this triple reminds me of the Delorean from Back to the Future when its first seen...i guess im just a 49 year old kid...congrats on yours Sir and keep up the great vid production quality
You did not show the spare plug behind the tank, but I assume Triumph made 1 available for this. When you plug in, it automatic show indicator on TFT display ? Do we need to bring to Service Center to activate it ? Thanks.
There is a blanking plug that you remove before connecting the grip’s wiring harness to the bike. You don’t need it once the grips are plugged in. I should have put a light on where the connection is so you could see it better. But if you use the instructions at triumphinstructions.com it has pretty clear illustrations of what it looks like. I did actually find it the plug a few weeks ago when cleaning the garage. Lol. The grips work great without having to take the bike to a service center. The indicator shows up on the TFT when you press the button. It will show “high”, “medium”, or “low” depending on how many times you press the button.
Man I have spent 3 hours on this job and canNOT get the wire to go through the throttle side. I have pushed it all the way into the bar and it will not come out at the end. At this point I don't know what to do. I've lubed it but can't loosen the handlebar bolts to tilt it. I'm pretty freaking frustrated at this point.
I would say an hour maybe two if you want to take your time and be patient. Getting the tank cover off, feeding the wires in and out of the bars, and putting the cover back on are the most time consuming parts.
Thanks. Your video is very easy to understand. If they had bothered to route these 5 wires from the factory it would've saved everyone a lot of time.
Thanks. Yeah, I would have paid a bit more for the bike to have already had the wires in the bars!

I must admit they do look very clean much better than after market options.
Thanks for your videos. Are those bar end mirrors from TEC as well? Which specific ones did you get and is TEC shipping to the USA directly?

I hate hitting roadblocks like that. Are you able to fish anything through? Perhaps a smaller bit of wire?
Great video. How long do you estimate his job will take?
