I’m so glad Bluey doesn’t go with the stupid father trope that was started with the Simpsons. It’s crazy to see the pilot did start that way but Bandit has been rewritten to be one of the best Dads on TV.
In addition: What we just saw was the infamous 1-minute pitch pilot; yet by late-2016, an extended 5 minute version of the pitch was produced (and could be considered the true 2016 pilot). What we know about it: *It corrected and enhanced the designs (making the first instance in which the 2017 models were used) * Chilli and Bingo were included within (the first apparently being pregnant and the second turned male [her gender change was caused by a wide similarity to it's inspiration show: Peppa Pig] * The swing scene was modified to appear more friendly and appealing towards the chosen demographic This extended pilot was the one presented on the AAS 2016 (Asian Animation Summit 2016) and is completely lost aside from 2 promotional pictures.

This looks SOOOO different from the current show! I noticed Bandit's face is located a bit more up, and that Bluey is in a buggy for some reason. I also noticed that the noses are more brown and that Chilli and Bingo don't appear. Maybe Bandit was supposed to be single and Bluey was his only Daughter? Mckenzie's and Rusty's eyes are also bigger and their snouts are longer too. AND HOW DID THAT BUGGY GET ON TOP OF THERE!?!?! I think the reason why Bluey came in a buggy was because i think she was supposed to be younger than both the other boys but was changed to be all the same age. I think this was canceled because they didn't wanna be copyrighted by the composer of the music, Halfbrick and others to name a few, and that it'd be TOO, and i mean TOO dangerous for kids and families...
I thinking of this pilot as canon. I know it is a real pilot, but I mean like as it actually happening in the show. Maybe when Bluey was younger Bandit was a lousy father, but he eventually realized he was being a not so good dad and maybe even had PTSD from his childhood. So after Bingo was born he was trying to be the best father he could ever be. Anyways, this pilot has such an uncanny feeling to it. Like it doesn’t have much life to it as the actual show. The background looks like liminal spaces and Rusty and Mackenzie are basically npcs. It really gives lost episode vibes, which makes sense because it is.

i remember an episode of recess was about the swing girl about to do a loop and everyone at school being super hyped about it but ok recess is for young kids while bluey is for toddlers i guess (even if bluey is written better than most media for adults)
I am beyond happy that they chose to have Bandit be a more involved parent. I think it's way too common to have dads in media be absentminded or overly harsh with their kids. I love that Bandit is different

This is gonna be an unpopular opinion, but I like this version of Bandit more. An interpretation of a typical, lazy father just speaks to me more. Also, it’s much more sufferable to see him in pain in this form than when he actually loves and cares for his kids but he doesn’t get respected for that :,)

Rusty was originally gonna be Bluey's cousin. MacKenzie on the other hand, dunno why they included him.

I'm glad they didn't roll with this one as the way to go with the show. The Weekend was the right call.

I don’t think so. When Bingo was born, Bluey was 2. She looks older than 2 in this. So Bingo was definitely alive.
