Toy Story really is something special and there's a reason it remains a classic. I'm 34 and have a 2.5 year old son, an 11 yr old stepdaughter and a 13 yr old stepson and they all love watching the Toy Story movies. What a wonderful legacy the guys at Pixar have created and will leave. That letter that John read really got me in the feels!
Toy Story will always be one of my favourite franchises ever!! The two best scenes in the entire franchise: 1) In the first one, when Woody and Buzz shake hands, signifying the beginning of their friendship! 2) In the second one, where Woody says that even after Andy outgrows him, he will have old Buzz Lightyear to keep him company, for infinity and beyond!
and you're forgetting that this movie was made years ago in 1995 in fact shit was way different then it is now you cant just ask someone to play a role and expect them to play as said character when most of these people are busy as hell and have other roles and or movies or just regular everyday life stuff to do you never know and money is a big part as well
I'm almost a 30 years old man now and this story made me cry so many times I'm unable to count. I remember when I was a little kid, I've dreamed about having such deep and beautiful bond with someone, just like Woody and Buzz had. And here we are, 20 years later. Me and a girl I shared my desk at school with. She turned out to be Woody to my Buzz. I love her to infinity and beyond.
It was late ‘95 early ‘96. I went and saw it at a cinema in the western suburbs of Sydney called Penrith Hayden Cinemas.I still remember how I was blown away by the opening scene with Andy and the opening theme. The way It looked was amazing and no matter how far the Pixar movies went it’s still great to watch. Can you believe that next year there will be a movie about the “real” buzz Lightyear. Great work guys!
I remember watching this special on ABC over five years ago. I was 22. Toy Story is one of my favorite animated movies of all time. I like that Woody was made more likable over the course of story development. What my 3 year old self didn’t know was I was seeing a work of pure innovation. Seeing filmmaking grow to infinity and beyond! A buddy comedy sure was rare in animation back then. And my favorite studio on Earth was born. I wish I was there at the El Capitan premiere to see the look on everyone’s faces. And I agree with Jon Faverau about Pixar
I was 14 when I watched the special on ABC on fall 2015. (I was born in '01). I'm glad they covered the Black Friday reel part because it seriously almost killed Toy Story and its production :)
@manuelorozco7760 Not gonna lie. When I first found out about the Black Friday reel in 2015 via a behind-the-scenes video, I remember having this deja vu feeling. I might've seen it before at a young age, but I didn't understand what it was about. It's probably a good thing that I didn't. Part of me wishes that Pixar would release the full Black Friday reel, but they might still be too humiliated to reveal it to the public.
I'm lucky to have been alive to experience the pop culture phenomenon that Toy Story was at the time when it was released. My favorite character from the start was Buzz Lightyear because he was so cool with the fancy gadgets with the wings and the SWOOSH sound effect that his helmet made with the catchphrases and the blinking LED light. Then when I got older and watched Toy Story again as an adult, it was so funny how Buzz refused to acknowledge his existence as a toy and believed himself to be a real superhero character. Buzz really thought he could do what his TV or movie counterpart could do, despite Woody telling him he can't LOL !!!
Toy Story was a big part of my childhood, cause I would watch it over and over without getting tired of it, as well as the other sequels and still to this day I would watch it and enjoy it as I did when I was a child. Much love Pixar and Disney
