The only problem with jig flies is the big hook you have to set it realy hard I had loads of takes but they throw the hook
With the right rod it’s not a problem, I use them all the time through winter and rarely miss a bite. I use a fast actioned rod rated to 40 grams with 40lb braid, firm hookset always does the job with few that don’t stick
Add a stinger treble

Keep a little brush or comb in your pack when you’re using the jig fly people. Give it a brush out after catching, get it looking good as new.

Hi mate, I have a 20g to 60g lure rod and I'm wondering is there any lures I could use to catch perch, or do I need a lighter set up.
A lighter let up mate, something 2-10g casting weight.

I found a lure like that dangling of the bush down the canal im glad i kept it the one ive found has a pink head with a siver glitter tail about 3 inch long

I think that you missed quite a lot of strikes because you probably struck on sight, then you take the streamer right out of the pike's mounth. Instead strike on feel😃🤪

Best for this year is.. westin swim 3D golden perch. 2 out of 5 PB for me. SG rad rat, 1 PB. Yellow SGSuicide duck 2 of the PB. 104cm, 108cm, 2X 123cm and 125cm now thats not a bad year. The 108cm i had twice 2 months between them, 18.2lb and 18 blank.
