- Odd Taxi has very quickly become my FAVORITE anime of Spring 2021, despite going up against strong contenders like To Your Eternity and Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song. With such an interesting way of storytelling that reminds me of the old but gold Baccano!, dynamic characters, and an intriguing mystery, Odd Taxi is nothing short of a diamond in the rough. It is certainly the most underrated anime of this season! Check it out!

For all these years, people have been complaining that every anime always looks the same.
For once we have a true standout, and it flies completely under the radar.
That's kinda sad...
But glad that a small but devoted fanbase did notice and is actively trying to get it out of the shadows.

Just finished the series 20 mins ago, this anime is criminally underrated. Kudos to the staff, masterpiece, 10/10 anime.
I think they hurried the ending a Little. It was really impactful scene tho when you know car everyone watching scene. How did his disease fix, what happened to the other mystery kiss girl.
@@KomalPatel yes I definitely felt like they hurried the ending, they couldve explained how fake mitsuya plotted and stuff, they finished all of that in 10 mins and felt rushed, but if the rushed version was a 10, i wonder how the elongated one would be
@@KomalPatel From here on, this is not the official explanation, so this is just my thought, but I think that Odokawa's illness was cured when he became hypoxic at sea. She reported on the phone that the other girl from Mystery Kiss had moved to a bigger office with the girl who looked like a black cat, the real killer from the last episode. (English is an automatic translation. I'm Japanese.)

I liked this show right away. Then the 4th episode hit (the one where we see Tanaka's backstory) and I knew this was something extra special.

I've never felt that anxious watching someone's descent to madness as I did during that episode.

The Odd taxi dove into the moonlit river with a rain of glistening green. It fell, the moon witnessed, like a phone flashing someone's dream, like an abandoned engagement ring, like the fragrace of fried chicken dropping in a pool of oil, like the body of a dead highschooler drowned one unfortunate night.
They witnessed, friends or foe, they all witnessed the front glass of the Odd taxi crashing against the cold water. A lonely blogger even captured the video for the rest of the world that was absent that night.
That night, died a walrus and a scared man woke up from a nightmare.

Anime of the season (potentially year?) - and I’m saying this having just finished Fruit Basket finale, Megalobox Nomad, Vivy: Fluorite Eye Song, and Gugu’s arc in Fumetsu no Anata. There have perhaps been more exhilarating, more emotionally charged anime this year, but I can’t remember the last time I saw something as tightly-written as this - even AOT for which I am a manga reader. Bravo. 👏👏👏

People need to stop sleeping on OddTaxi. Not often we get a Mystery Anime, and I loved how the small fandom pieced together the mystery from the clues in the flashbacks and so on.
Made me freak out when I saw episode 13/the finale.

I regret not watching this amazing anime sooner. I loved the characters. The story was great. It all connected at the end which was really cool to see. The ending really caught me off guard and dang that cliffhanger. I first heard about this from you so thank you for introducing this show to me! I also finished this in one day and it’s 5:00 in the morning
I was def planning on watching this since it seemed right up my alley and looked like a vibe to watch. After watching this video and how you really hyped it up I think I’ll definitely be checking it out because it definitely looks like my type of show!

Yeah, while more popular shows get more commercials because of their manga counterparts popularity.
This, and Megalobox Nomad. Vivy has been underrated as well but gained waves of viewership after high profile anitubers talked about it.

here after seeing the finale. An amazing anime from start to finish, if u like anime that actually has a dynamic plot and characters and u have a functioning brain, this is an amazing anime
Also, OddTaxi was already a 9/10 for me until I learned about the Audio Drama available on RUclips. It made the experience so much better. After each episodes, one audio is released and gives hints on how to solve the mystery. For example, the Audio Drama from episode 2 basically gives the answer to the whole murder mystery that is revealed in episode 11 and 13.
The Open ending on episode 13 is also further improved with the its audio drama.
It's really too bad that people are not sleeping on Odd Taxi are actually sleeping on its full potential.

i also got big baccano vibes in the way odd taxi also overwhelms you with seemingly unrelated characters and plots in the beginning that eventually all wind around each other in the end... what an amazing treat odd taxi was to watch.

There have been a lot of excellent shows this season - S-tier shows even: Vivy, To Your Eternity, 86, Higehiro, Fruits Basket, and so on; but Oddtaxi is the one I've universally been recommending to everyone. It's easily my AOTS, and possibly AOTY depending on how it wraps up. Thanks for doing the video, it was excellent!

Odd taxi, was an amazing watch, after each episode I was yearning for more, going into it not expecting much but being enticed into binge watching it for as long as I could. After finishing the 13th episode I felt satisfied, but I wanted more, as I knew this was a diamond in the rough and didn’t want it to end.
I have stated recommending it to friends and family, so they could enjoy it if they liked it.

Yes!! This show definitely needs more recognition. It has some of the tightest writing I've seen in a while and now it's one of my favorites. Odd Taxi also really reminds me of Mob Psycho 100, they have a very similar vibe

I am so so glad you made a video talking about Odd Taxi, Odd Taxi is such a gem in anime these days, where everything is packed with actions. I have watched the ending EP 13 and it is such a good wrap of the entire plot, I feel so satisfied after watching the whole anime, though a bit empty inside as I cannot watch more of it. I really want to design a story as compacted and well-written as Odd Taxi, it is certainly a very fascinating yet realistic mystery story.
Thank for this year, eating my meal and watching odd taxi together. Watch episode 1-4 curious something deeper I've gone, now goes deep and it is how scary real life world same odd taxi. What a great start 2021.

I absolutely loved Odakawa. Natsuki Hanae had so much nuance within a fairly small range. Everytime Odakawa was flustered or caught off guard it was hilarious.

Definitely an underappreciated gem. Everything fits together so well, from the dialogue and characters, to the interconnecting narrative stands. Not to mention one of the best openings we've had for a while. Definitely worth more attention.

Saw episodes 1 and 2 two days ago, couldn’t help but spend all yesterday watching the rest. It was so good.
Of course the story and character designs were wonderful, but I particularly loved the voices!😂
Like there were so many moments where I replayed the same line over and over again just because it was so nice to listen to. Especially Odokawa and Big Daimon

I love the comparison that some people make on how the anime plays out like a Tarantino movie. Everything seems so simple and calm until that one character or one event breaks the camels back and the chain reaction the stories has been setting up goes crazy
Finally got around to watching it recently. Just finished it. I can't find a single complaint about this show. None. Even if I try to nitpick, I just can't.
I like it because it's not annoying and very coherent, just all around very well done.
I like how the youtuber I watched recommending me Odd Taxi also mentioned Baccano and Durarara lol

I just want to point out that the furry fandom grew out of the earliest known anime club in the US, the Cartoon/Fantasy Organization, in the 1970s.
That being said, this is a prime example of how to use anthropomorphic characters. As you said, the various species do differentiate the cast clearly, but also assigning different animals can serve as a quick shorthand to portray personalities. This show is brilliant.
for me odd taxi isn't an anime, it is a story that can only be told through animation. It's so good.

This show is soo underrated man it's easly best anime of the year
Odd Taxi is the only new seasonal anime of Spring that I watched this year. From a mere glance, I knew it would be what I have been constantly searching for in this over-saturated, underwhelming market; something different. The fact that it took until its final episode for anime fans to finally give it the time of day would irritate me, but I'm just relieved that more people can experience one of the best new anime of recent memory.
Whoever did Devilman Crybaby gotta be a huge hip hop fan cause they put a rap cypher in that other anime they did (Japan Sinks 2020 or something) and it was one of the best although most bizarre parts. And it was good in the sub and dub. Somebody at that studio been blasting Lil Baby.
ODDTAXi was literal masterpiece to me , just beacuse of this anime i started looking for logic and reason on every small things in other anime(and due to that reason it made me hate Tokyo Revengers alot)..but this anime really deserve atleast one award or international level nomination...

Like I cannot recommend this enough, personally I read this as a standalone anime a 10 out of 10 and if I had to compare it to everything that either has come before this year or probably will I’d say it’s a solid contender in the top 10 for anime of the year and maybe if we end up with a very light selection the low end of top-five anime of the year

The fact you even have to write out a whole 'disclaimer' at the beginning about 'not hating it because it's got animal characters cuz lol furry' is so disheartening. Not of you, but of nerd/geek/otaku/anime-loving/media-loving culture these days in general. I grew up on awesome shows filled with cartoon animals that completely formed and informed what I liked growing up in the 90s, and the odd, rare Japanese 'animal anime' up to recent times like Beastars and Retsuko have found themselves as some of my modern favorites, I love seeing Carrot in One Piece and Beerus in Dragon Ball, I love the character designs we get in shows like Brand New Animal and yes, even movies like Zootopia. I love and adore this character type and think it lends itself well both to genuinely cute and charming types of shows as well as more mature faire when handled well, and it's just such an enjoyable and lovable character design template for me. I've wanted to draw with a focus on creating such characters for a long time, too, but this massive, consistent wave of distaste toward the whole *medium* of 'cartoon animals' just because some people take their enthusiasm for it to dizzying heights, but are generally easily avoided, has just... well, it reallly disappoints me. I hope shows like this do well and garner good reputations, and this style continues to be used often going forward, and, God forbid, that that sense of hatred from so much of these communities finally dissipates over time. Like, c'mon, super pervy obseessive otakus hasn't dwindled you guys' passion for anime girls, why let obsessive furries ruin it for characters like this?

I loved Odd Taxi though I do feel it was kinda ruined for me because I read the reddit threads. Fuckers figured out everything from like the first 3 episodes.

I feel the opposite, though I spent most of my time on the 4chan threads (it's not as bad as people think, I swear).
The weekly discussion and theories was what really made the whole experience way better. Being really connected with the community the whole way through was fun as hell.
@@SomaStory Well the problem with the reddit threads was that I wasn't participating for a few reasons.
Firstly quite a few of them were already done by the time I watched the episode and secondly... I may or may not be perma suspended on reddit because "die in a fire" is something I tend to say when angry.
It angers & saddens me that this show will probably not get the recognition it deserves. It will get a high ranking on MAL from those who saw it, but it probably won't become more than a cult classic, because it doesn't have the cliche's that mainstream anime fans demand (high school, iseki, fighting tournaments, harems, slice of life bullshit, power fantasy bullshit).
I LOVE Odd taxi! 9.6/10 from me 👍👍.
tbh for everyone going off on the animal thing, you can tell when an anime is gonna be that kinda thing if the first ep dives into hyper-sexualized love interests.
Them being animals really doesn't change that type of weirdness.

How can I find what the good anime is in a season, I tried to use the seed rates on nyaa but those dudes just seem to like isekai bullshit

I disagree. The ending did leave some things to be desired for but it has far more depth and nuance to its world than odd taxi. I liked odd taxi but I don't know how people think it is a masterpiece in comparison when everything in odd taxi is pretty surface level

Don't let the end of the second episode scary you off. I'd suggest at least giving it until the end of the 3rd episode.
