To many stories either take too long to publish new stuff (like half a year for a new chapter) or worse, get cancelled and leave you with an incomplete story. So I prefer waiting at least until a season is finished. And it's also why I usually skip short manga/manhwa recaps (less than 2 hours) until a compilation is released, since there's a very good chance those stories will be left incomplete by the author.
