Wait. 4:18 I must not hear this correctly ? " A few months before he was killed, he was beheaded" did I hear that right? Serious state of hypnosis to be convinced you are peaceful altered state with your head before you. 😱
I would love to be hypnotized. Self hypnosis is especially of interest as I could use it to relax and enter an altered, peaceful state.

Problem with me is this Mr. Hyman. I'm struggling with broken brain since childhood. And if u in the verge of ADHD, and u are adolescence, you have certain survival pathways that could be triggered by certain situation. But your book Ultramind Solution is right. What I discovered is if I indulge myself with sugarly treats, I find myself easier triggered and have panic attacks, that me with more balanced diet. If I eat right, I'm more grounded. So yes, I have problem with my mental states. But it is lot better to manage if my body is healthy. 😊

    Hi Dr. Hyman.
I wholeheartedly believe in self hypnosis.
I used it to quit smoking in 2007.
I use self programming for a lot of my mental and physical struggles.
I have narcissists in my immediate family... hypnosis has kept me out of jail.
    Stay cool and groovy

I'm also a believer of hypnosis. It works for my nephew. But for PTSD, I believe more in psychedelic. PTSD is nasty. You have to bring the big gun on the table.

Beliefs should never be mistaken for facts. They are not one in the same.
PTSD occurs when the normal, healthy, survival state...that allows us to escape predators or other life-threatening situations...gets stuck and became abnormal and unhealthy when the fight-flight-freeze-fawn response did not switch back to return to rest-and-digest after the life-threatening situation passed and the threat to life is not longer there.
The brain is stuck in a survival state/trauma loop after the individual has had a life-threatening experience or witnessed a life-threatening experience for someone else, and the sympathetic nervous system is STUCK in hypervigilance. You do not need "the big guns", that is pure nonsense (it is not nonsense that PTSD is a life-altering neurological glitch that can turn the person into someone they don't even recognize themselves, so in that sense...YES... it is extremely serious) and needs immediate amelioration, but not with drugs. What the person's brain needs is to feel safe and, more specifically, the parasympathetic nervous system that is responsible for the rest-and-digest state needs to be activated. You don't need hallucinogens to do that, they can and often do make PTSD worse.
Just use your most basic logic for a moment. A person is running through the forest, their very life hanging in the balance, and everywhere they turn they are see danger and threat WHERE THERE IS NONE, but their brain is perceiving the information it is receiving as life-threatening. Now, add psychedelics into that already surrealistic nightmare??? I hope to god you are seeing the picture I'm drawing here. That can turn an already living nightmare into a full-blown journey through the gates of hell.
The one and only thing that brain that is STUCK in that natural survival-state needs is to feel SAFETY: calm, quiet, relaxed safety, and it needs to perceive this over and over and over, time and time and time again. You must slow the heart rate down, you must calm the breathing down, and you must activate the VAGAL NERVE because it is what connects the heart, brain, and digestive tract so that your sympathetic nervous system ramps down and shuts off and your parasympathetic nervous system ramps up and tells the brain, heart, and digestive tract that it is now safe to rest...and digest.
Yoga can do this, but not in one yoga class, it must be done a few days a week until the hypervigilance goes away, and the hypervigilance will NOT go away until the brain feels safe, and that will not occur by introducing a hallucinogen into a brain that is already in a state of high alert when the sympathetic nervous system is STUCK in an "on" state. For god's sake, that can be even more traumatizing for many people. Have you never heard of people having bad trips??? smh In fact, they have never found another treatment more effective for PTSD than yoga.
So let me be VERY CLEAR about this. There is little to *no money to be made in treating PTSD with yoga*. Very few clinicians are ever going to tell you this because most have been brainwashed...since pre-med...to accept nothing but double blind studies. You are NOT going to see any research studies on this. You are NOT going to see any research studies UNLESS there is money to be made by the pharmaceutical companies making money on the findings. There IS money to be made in offering psychedelics, both on the psychedelics themselves and the clinicians administering them.
If you want to do psychedelics, go right ahead. Do them as little or as much as you want. Have a total blast with it. You are free to do as you please. That said, PLEASE do not confuse/conflate healing a severely traumatized brain that is seeking safety (full blown PTSD) with using hallucinogens because it can backfire on you in ways you cannot imagine and traumatize the person more, which then can become COMPLEX-PTSD, and that is not the direction you want a traumatized brain that is already STUCK to move toward.
People are so against pharmaceutical companies, but wtf do they think psychedelics are? You are PAYING someone for them. You are PAYING a clinician to sit with you because they know, all too well, about the bad trips people have. Do NOT open that Pandoras box because you do not know what is going to come out.
Yoga can be done in the person's home. They don't have to go out anywhere unless they want to go. They can do yoga for free beginning with the free videos on RUclips taught by professionals who specialize in treating trauma. It will not cost the person a dime, and it begins to help immediately, but it must be continues because the brain needs to do things over and over and over to create those neural pathways, and especially AFTER so many traumatic memory-pathways have been created with the PTSD.
You are unlikely to hear this information from ANYONE in the medical field who stands to make money off of treating people because it does NOT serve their field and it drives business away from them.
Notice: I am talking about free yoga...FREE...and I am not talking about spending a fortune at a yoga studio. IF the person is too traumatized to even move (dorsal vagal shut down), they can start out with EFT tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique) until they can move out of dorsal vagal shut down and begin to get out of bed and function (washing face, brushing teeth, sitting upright instead of laying in bed not moving all the time).
All of these resources are available on YT for free! If they want commercial free, they can use the Brave browser instead of Chrome. Brave browser allows no commercials, so the content will be a fully calm, continuous experience for them.
Emotional Freedom Technique (aka tapping) will help get the person who is unable to get up and around to redirect their brain. There are many clinicians online here showing people how to do tapping.
If the person with PTSD is not in dorsal-vagal shutdown and they are already up and around, they can begin the yoga for trauma practice. If they don't know which practitioner to start with first, I recommend trying Arielle Schwartz, PhD. or even the YT channel "Yoga with Adrienne", or they can just do a search for "yoga for PTSD" or "Yoga for trauma".
Again, start with EFT tapping...and once they can get up and around and begin to wash their face, brush their teeth, brush their hair, they can begin yoga right in their home. If they are homeless, they can go to a public park/beach. Listening to ocean waves at the beach during the day can do wonders to calm the sympathetic nervous system, but to resolve PTSD EFT and yoga are key.
You are unlikely to see hear this anywhere except from the most ethical clinicians who specialize in *successfully* treating PTSD and have no interest in making money off of people's misfortune.
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't get deleted for that very reason. This guy is promoting his app, so he wants people to use that.
I'm all for hypnosis, by the way. Yet, I'm also for people in the throes of PTSD to get relief.

Would hypnosis help to retain a lost language? As a Native American who was taken at age 6 and raised in a residential school environment and was forbidden to spoken the language. Now as an adult many of us who were fluent native speaks at one time can’t remember a word.

You have to AVOID the narcissists, sociopaths, and especially the ruthlessly greed-drive psychopathic physicians for certain.
There are good, empathic, diagnosticians out there, but there are tough to find, and they are often difficult to see due to having a full schedule of patients.
