I also did, it was a tradition my family brought from Italy to North America . Then I discovered , putting butter and salt on chestnuts . I have found a recipe and am going to do it this year , roasted , buttered , honey and rosemary .

OMG I just tried this for the first time and it came out amazing!! I LOVE chestnut and I haven't cook chestnut for many years cuz it never turned out good and I just kinda gave up! I tried to cook them with this direction and I cooked them little extra time after the butter and it turned out great!! Some fresh good chestnuts it came off in one piece but some old not as fresh chestnuts just needs little extra work but it still easy enough to peels off for me. So Thank you for the video!! ❤️❤️

Anch'io le faccio così. Metto più abbondante acqua sale quanto ne basta ,le faccio bollire con il coperchio sopra dopo un po della bollitura tolgo il coperchio si asciugano e diventano un po nere di brucito .si spengne la fiamma e le castagne sono.pronte per mangiarle senza buccia interna.

Fatto ciò si riempie la Ruseddrara con le castagne preventivamente 'ntecchiate (tagliuzzate rozzamente) e si procede alla cottura su fiamma medio - alta. La cottura classica prevede il caminetto, quattro amici, vino...e un bel cannone di quelli seri
Anche se la cottura non è quella tradizionale alla brace,è comunque apprezzabile ...un nuovo modo per godere della bontà delle castagne...brava...grazie
Mais prático - castanha assada. A partir do tempo de vídeo 1:12 colocar a taça no micro-ondas com uma xicara de água ao lado (castanhas a seco). Ligar o micro-ondas por cerca de 10 minutos (tempo depende da quantidade - se necessário dar mais tempo) . No final envolver num pano com um pouco de sal a gosto.

Grazi! Has anybody compared this method to the traditional oven roasted method & if so, did it change the flavor? My Mom always made these for us at Christmas time. Always roasted in the oven. I’ve never seen them done this quickly,steamed stove top like this b-4. I will try it, but I fear it will lack that “Roasted” chestnut flavor? (I love the music you used 😊)
Eventually it depends on the chestnut itself, some come out very delicious, while some pretty much dull in taste.. and chestnut gains its taste as it cooks, so its rather related with the chestnut type.. i have tried a very similar method like this one and it came out very much like roasted and delicious.. just try with a little amount..
I followed the recipe exactly with excellent browns. The hard skin comes off relatively easily but the the inner one remains stuck, moreover, due to the butter, it slips between the hands !

Será un buen truco para no tener mucho que pelar, pero esas castañas cuando tienen gusanos dentro o están podres, te los comes sin enterarte. Muy digestivo. Yo las como cocidas, con lo cual tengo que pelarlas en dos ocasiones y cuando las pongo a cocer en agua, las he partido en cuatro trozos y no me como ningún gusano. Cocidas así y acompañadas de leche fría, están espectaculares.
