I use a Douk switcher with one of my guitar amps to two completely different speaker cabs. Plus having old school meters bop along with my licks makes me smile.
I used one for awhile. Switched between Denton 80th and Ultra to match the music I was in the mood before. Now I run the preout to my tube amp and one set of speakers and the the amp is hooked up to the to another set of speakers so I do not need a switcher. And thank YOU for YOUR service.
NOW we're cooking with gas!!! (the crowd roars) I didn't know they make these! I'mma get two so I can test the switcher itself and get on with trying out the Unico Primo! And: I must have just found your channel right AFTER the first post you did about these, 7 months ago. I missed that earlier one! Noice! Very noice indoeed! (I don't know how to spell an Australian accent!) Thanks!
I have the Fosi LC30 and really like it. It's a must have if you're comparing amps and speakers. It allowed me to figure out what it was about my SVS Ultra Towers I didn't like. The mids are very recessed and the bass is muddy compared to other speakers I own.
I bought the Fosi LC30 during the Kickstarter. If you're going to be getting one of these switchers, save yourself a lot time and hassle by using banana plugs on your wires if you don't have them already. If you make the assumption that the sound impact that the switcher and extra cabling contribute is minor relative to the speakers or amps being tested (or affects them equally) than this is a valid way of comparing components, just realize that once you finally pick one amp or speaker and remove the switcher it may sound different than when the switcher was in place. That said, in my experience the biggest issues that affect the sound heard are level matching and speaker baffling when comparing speakers. You can get around level matching the speakers by using two amps and setting the volume levels of each amp separately to a specific set of speakers and switching between both speakers and amps simultaneously (a programmable remote helps). Ideally you want to use the same amp on both speakers (assuming you can hear a difference in amps) but you can get by using two different amps (assuming you can't hear a difference in amps). The next issue, which I consider the biggest, is having two sets of speakers physically side-by-side will have a huge effect on the sound due to the baffling/interference effects of having another object next to the pair of speakers being tested. I've found the best way to compare would be to have one set of speakers in their normal position and having the second pair of speakers inverted and sitting on top of the first set. You can swap their physical positions afterwards to confirm any differences heard.
good point regarding the ohm load on running multiple pairs of speakers. If the speaker switcher doesn't compensate for the ohm load, you could damage the amp and the voice coils of the speakers... I'm guessing the literature doesn't address this question.
I currently going through the exact setup issue you described. I have a modern home theater receiver setup and a vintage receiver 2-channel with a turntable. I also have several sets of speakers (3 currently) I would love to be able to use in either scenario. I picked up an older but high quality passive amp/speaker selector at a local record shop but now that I see all the convenience features of this one I'm jealous. I don't have a solution for the subwoofer with my current gear. I would love to have a remote volume control for my turntable setup! Very cool! Happy Veterans day to all who served.
Thank you for your service, Sir. I hope you've had a great day. This is beautiful product content for today. Thank you as always for your time, efforts, and content.
Can’t share on douk but I’ve been using a no bling / basic speaker switcher from Germany for years now; allowing me to audition quite a few speakers before I landed on definitive purchases. It also allows me to switch between two pairs and when I’m in the mood for different experience. I couldn’t imagine being without one now.
I have the VUpro3, and I love the Both speaker function. I have 2 sets of 8-Ohm's speaker and two 4-ohm capable Amps HTA-200 and Pair of Fosi Monoblocks It rocks.
Hi Randy, after seeing your review of the Douk Audio I was very interested about the possibility to switch between speakers. But found the VU meters really too small. Then I found the Neo Hipo which I bought. Did you already try that model ? This said I can now easily ear how different my speakers are, it is night and day. I have now set 2 different Equaliser setting on my Eversolo DMPA6 to better match their sound. What is still missing is a separate gain setting. Sensitivity difference between the speaker is very big... Please keep feed us with our super videos. Stephane
I have an earlier version of the Douk Audio switcher and I love it. I have teo amps going into it. One for vinyl and the other for streaming. I level match and see just how well my vinyl sounds compared to digital. It’s loads of fun.
There was one of these reviewed and it was said it introduced noise into the set up (can't remember if it was Douk Audio or another brand). This Pro model seems to be new - ASR (for what it's worth) seem to suggest it's older models that had problems, in a review of the non-Pro VU3.
QED SS50 A cheap alternative (at least in the UK). Over the last couple of weeks I've bought 2 QED SS50 5 way speaker switching units on EBay for under £35 (£15 and £20) for both including delivery. Full new price is £280. They only have speaker level inputs for one amplifier. They can switch between any combination of 5 pairs of speakers. Even 5 pairs at once if you wish. Impedance balancing transformers mean with a 4 ohm capable amp, the impedance of 8 ohm speakers should never drop below 4 ohms, whatever combination of speakers are used. Rated output power is 60W so they'll work for all but thrash testing purposes. Speaker connection are screw types but accept 2.5mm cable. These units are fully passive with little to wear out or break. The switches and build quality are very solid but plastic. There are no pretty VU meters and remote switching on offer here. All in all, these are geat at more than double what I paid.
Very interesting products, thank you. Do you know of a similar product but that switch the two amp and speakers simultaneously? Normal you get: Amp A switched to Speaker A and Amp B to speaker B, Press a button and you get Amp A switched to speaker B and Amp B to speaker A.
Those do seem pretty functional. Particularly for people like me with multiple systems and speakers. Meters look cool too. Not sure they will save me thousands. Will save some time and be fun to play with, so I may get one.
The two sets of speakers should as ffect the load and volume downward ergo two of the same 8 ohm nominal load should be 4 ohms right? My previous Niles could sum to he speakers and present the same load but volume would plumit.Wondering what story is here
I spent more to upgrade my speaker cables. Yes bigger wire, bigger sound i can attest to that. So why would I place a chifi switch in-between my amp and speakers? The product is cool but possibly harmfully to the sound quality. Not for me but maybe for thee.
I had a different brand A/B switcher.... no meters included. It was good except for the teenie weenie screw setup for the speaker wire terminal connections. A bit fragile it turns out.

Love the channel Randy, my current VU3 when the power is off, Amplifier B channel input and Speaker 2 channel output will be auto-selected. Is this one the same when switched off?
Suppose you power this from the USB on your amp, would it power up automatically? Or would you need to hit another button on another remote again every time?
Now THAT is a great device. I have both a small single ended amp that has a headphone output, I also have other amps. This would enable me to use both on a single pair of speakers.

And how does it save me thousands again? You mean we keep forgetting sending back equipment we hate cause we don't have the switcher? Btw do I save more when I connect the both of them in parallel or in series?
What if your amplifier power output is in the 200-300 watt range? Also I Bi-amplify. My system isn’t really audiophile. I have a pair of Yamaha S115IV speakers and a EAW dual 15 subwoofer. I can create concert sound in my living room with QSC amplifiers driving them through a DBX active crossover.

How do i use the same amp but benefit from dual channel for music. I considered getting another 5 channel amp so the denon can be set to pre iut all the time, but switching to pre out affects all speakers, i cannot tell it to pre amp my front stage speakers (floor standing) yet wishing the denon would power the remaining. I am now starting to see this issue now i have already bought and awaiting delivery of the fosi v3. Your input would be greatly appreciated. I am also using van dam cables for all interconnections incl speakers. Its not a cheap game. But I'm struggling now to justify going any further, or should i??
My comment is about speakers, not this video. A way to get nice speakers cheap is to buy last year's top model after a new one has been out for a while. Yesterday I bought a pair of Elac floor standing speakers for less than 1/2 the cost of the new model. They will be great for my playroom and cheap. A couple of years ago they were the latest and greatest.
True, but you don’t have to have it permanently connected. I got one when I started my journey last year. It really is super handy for A/B-ing components. It’s not random or blind testing but neither is disconnecting and reconnecting components. It’s just a tool to make life at little easier. YMMV, but I like it. Not even sure which one I have.
Since it's in the final output of a power amplifier, the switches themselves shouldn't have any effect on such a high strength signal. The meters should be merely tapped off the final output paths instead of actually in circuit between the amp and the speakers. The meters would have a very high impedence and would have miniscule to zero effect on the final sound.
11-11 sale in Asia right now. I would be more interested in a review of the Douk T8 pro (equalizer/preamp with balanced inputs and outputs and tubes) There is also one without tubes called T7. Already have and AMP switcher Dynavox Amp-s. No fancy VU meters but it does the job.
Thanks for the info! I am planning to buy an amp switcher (My use case is 2 amps, 1 set of speakers). Does this units add something else compared with the Dynavox AMP-s MKII? Or it is only aesthetics?

Is this happening to anyone else? Here on my PC or my phone, the video is fine, but on my Apple TV the video plays, but the audio is multiple different languages. French first, then.. Italian I think? Then Spanish, then German....
I’m not convinced that a product designed to encourage buying more speakers, amps, and the convenience of switching between them at the touch of a button will actually save me money. A far better approach is to find satisfaction in what you already own-enjoy the music, and keep your equipment for years. Either look behind and under object in the room or empty the kids toy box!
Am i the only one having issues with sound track auto translation. I cannot watch the last few vids. The sound seems to auto translate in 10 dif languages at the same time. Happens only on Randys channel.
Basically eye candy. Get a disco ball😂🎉and a smoke machine😊
Gain settings in the path of a signal is a NoNo and it has s digital processor 🤢inside to play with the leds who are peobably fed by pulse widh modulators.
I bought one and sold it.This is an extra link in the system.Spoils the sound, there is no place in an expensive vu3 system.
Insted of buying a Porsche, I'll be buying the McIntosh mc462😅
You should be legally obligated to inform the audience if you sponsored by the product you’re currently reviewing. Because if you’re being paid by these companies to make videos about it obviously you’re going to be biased towards the product.
He literally said he wasn’t sponsored… also, what you said is already true.
Happy Veteran's Day !! thank you for your service from another bubblehead
What boat were you on? I ran into another bubble head this am at my daughter’s school
@@cheapaudioman Corpus Christi (SSN-705), Seawolf (SSN-575) Parche (SSN-683), LOL and a bunch of rides.
When you're happy with what you have, the value lies in the lasting enjoyment, not the endless upgrades.
Happy Veterans day
MIC shareholders and Rothschild bankers are grateful for your service
I just want the VU meters i dont need the switching part :)
If you really want to dive into music, then turn off all lights. Listen and immerse into sound. Become one with the music for just a brief moment. This is coming from a Stereo-Purist with decades of magic experiences.

Randy! I just thought of a new handle for you! The Chi-Fi Guy! 😂
Fun fact: buying stuff won't save you thousands.
I heard Talking Heads and got excited
Not saving that many thousands. Only 2 or 3, to get a heavy real amp. I did get one of the fosi a couple years ago and it just quit on me, but if they are your thing; more power to you.
You were in the military!?
