Who knew this existed!? Let's take the Renault Alpine around the Isle of Man. Download: srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=7943 0:00 Intro 1:25 Race 23:08 Final Thoughts
As someone who lives on the Isle of Man and gets to drive these roads every day, this was a great watch! I think it's time for me to revisit GPL. Just one small thing, the town before the mountain is Ramsey (which is where I live) and the town with the start/finish is Douglas. Oh, and watching the bikes from the Creg with a pint in hand is definitely recommend! Keep up the great work 👍
Looks like some numberplate cloning going on here, Also, Its Ramsey not Douglas where the hairpin is before heading to the Mountain, saying that, its a great vid. Full marks to you, very enjoyable.
It’s not often your drive to work is put into a sim. The track itself is superbly done, there are just some trackside details that don’t scan to real life, but it is nonetheless a remarkable piece of work.
Great to see your new content. I have followed your videos for quite a while now. Just amazing race craft with passionate and knowledgeable commentary as you are racing. Awesome. Thank you!
That was great man. I love the appreciation for this old sim. Still the best in my book. Character and charisma beats fancy graphics any day. The only thing that's ever come close for me is the Power and Glory mod for GTR2. Would love to see you do a video of that some time.
My top three all time favourite car, including rally cars, supercars, etc. A certain stand-alone mod version for AC is absolutely blistering. Witnessed it IRL first time during 1986holidays in France in it's very right element at small montaneous roads somewhere between Clermont-Ferrand and Puy de Dome and it was love at first sight both vision and sound NB: wasn't at old Charade, but must've been close in the neigbourhood. As a teen by then I didn't even know the existence of this fabulous track of which I've driven tons of times in different sim engines now, but still misses the real world experince)
Wow! I actually have one of these cars in our shop right now! The owner wants to install the amber fog lamps and now I know how it will look. Pretty damn cool. Oh.....love your video's, glad to see you back!
Great carmodel, such details. I'm not sure it uses the same physics as the Stratos (Ferrari 312 if I remember correctly) but the Alpine seems to have much nicer handling.
Another nice video. This track is great fun to drive and as dangerous as mongoose in a snake pit, you never know when or what is going to bite you . lol Maybe a lap around the Targa Florio one day ? Keep up the great work !
That was quite entertaining - if for some reason you can't get the Pardebles circuit for your 1955 F1 campaign, this could be your best bet. Oh... and Guy Martin would like to know your location.
I agree, learning tracks like this behind the AI in mod cars really makes me wish GPL had brake lights. Great vid - I never knew there was an Alpine update for the Stratos mod! Another great car to add to the extensive GPL roster.
Now we have Jim Pwarsons awesome work in rFactor2 Great video. Must brush the dust off the old cd-rom and install this game. Damn my new PC don't have a cd-rom drive. Times change. :)
Another awesome video, GPLaps. Thank you! I have not played this mod in ages 😊. Have you taken the Stratos around the IoM? FYI, I think it is pronounced “Alpeen”, if I remember correctly. The actual car is very much on my bucket list!
PS Dinalpine, the official Mexican production of Alpines, body shells and chassis are available new in Mexico, good prices too. If you need more info, let me know (not anything to do with me).
Some recommendations would be good..... I’m in a similar boat wanting to get back into GPL after 15 years + away from GPL. Used to have a Thrustmaster T2. The pedals weren’t too much to my liking back then, so some good tips for wheel and pedals (maybe even sets of 3 in case of branching out into other sims?) from guys in the know without costing £1000s would be really useful - rather than just trawling internet reviews ? Thanks in advance.
Pretty strong going. The place you thought was Douglas is called Ramsey and Douglas is where the start/finish is. Good vids to watch are Mark Higgans in the Subaru and the movie Closer to the edge TT 3d. WARNING if your a speed freak it will probably make you worse. ruclips.net/video/DRg5Sp1iQMc/видео.html
It is NOT a "Renault Alpine", it is an Alpine Renault. ... and Alpine, is pronounced Alpeen. Alpine is a separate car company to Renault (or was back then). Ultimately the Group 4 rally cars that won the early 1970s World Rally Championships had 180hp from their 1.8 liter engines, but most importantly they weighed less than 600kgs or 1300lbs, that's why they were fast, and rear engine'd gave them tremendous traction. The Group 4 work's cars had large flared arches not apparent on these cars which look more like the 1600S version.
Supercar club fanboys with supped up gt cars could care less about the history of motor sports which Imho is absurd. It’s a reason why some people pass up this vintage game to go play assetto or other modern sims. Why not care about the history when they would never have the nice “modern” cars if it wasn’t for the past. I can’t even get my friends to watch a movie older than the 70s because all they argue is it’s old... so it’s bad... why not watch a movie with better cgi? Why not play a game with better graphics or physics? Oh well their loss they don’t get to experience the games/films that shaped what we have today.

I live in Ramsey too!
Amen to that brother.
Love your work, a dead serious sim racer with a sincere appreciation for what got us here... 😁
The Renault Alpine.
The car that dominated the 1971 Monte Carlo Rally.
I love it.
Great video.

Awesome to see all the new GPLaps content lately!
What a blast! One lap and I'm worn out just watching.
I feel blessed to be here for the revival of GPLaps
Kudos to Jim Pearson on the creation of such a magnificent version of the Isle of Man circuit.

Super treat - In at the Dieppe end with those A110's!
Ha! I see what you did there.
Drum roll please...
Absolutely loved that. I have to get that track as I grew up at the TT races where my Dad raced his Norton .
What a great channel! So glad I found you, keep up the great work.
Awesome video mate. I like how someone is making videos from the history of Motorsport.
Keep it up

GPL has so much content! That's another thing that makes it the best. Thanks for posting!
Great carmodel, such details. I'm not sure it uses the same physics as the Stratos (Ferrari 312 if I remember correctly) but the Alpine seems to have much nicer handling.
The car is based on the CanAm71 car structure according to the readme.
so the cars doesn`t have their own spesific physic-files? The physics are the most important file, anyone can paint & do bodies
@@64fairlane305 No way anybody can do that, u have any idea how hard it is to mod anything in GPL?
Stratos mod is a good add on but it’s on a lower quality level than the rest...
I haven't played GPL since Spa67 was released, maybe I should try all the new mods. Love your channel!
Great video! Love seeing all of those Alpines buzz around :)
Fantastic video, I could watch all day
Nicely done, wow these things really rock and roll!
The ACT Labs - GPL shifter gave you 6 gears when you selected direct input. Came in handy at Monza 10k.
Another nice video. This track is great fun to drive and as dangerous as mongoose in a snake pit, you never know when or what is going to bite you . lol Maybe a lap around the Targa Florio one day ? Keep up the great work !
beautiful stuff brother, great driving
Love the content keep it up
Good job, man! Love the Alpine.
Great Racing! :))
and yea Love you work mate :)
Ooh I've really enjoyed this car in the AC classic TV mod. It's moderate power but seems like it has a low centre of gravity and handles well.
This track mod really is gorgeous. It looks so much better than the version I have for GTR2, but I'm grateful to have that one.
Superbo, bravo GPLaps!!👍
Amazing vid 😃
I knew the Alpine. It's not easy to drive. Brandish is always a hard turn to negotiate, and I guess there was some wind at Windy Corner...
Great race, great find in these cars.
The car detail looks totally awesome.
19:20 Im that impatient car behind you that takes itself out lol
Very funny Dear Leader. 😂
I just installed the game today so this is great
where can I buy it?
@@j.o.e2683 I think I got it from an abandonware site

Now GPL has brake light for the sport car Mod; Done by Lee Bowden
@@michelvigneres7033 If only the Alpine and Stratos could use it.
The word “awesome” can be a bit over used, but this is just........... awesome!
Now we have Jim Pwarsons awesome work in rFactor2 Great video. Must brush the dust off the old cd-rom and install this game. Damn my new PC don't have a cd-rom drive. Times change. :)
Well driven. Its a tough circuit.

I just posted that above. And it is Alpine Renault, not Renault alpine.

Mark Mark : Awesome, thank you!

How long to learn this circuit.?
Is this mod available for Assetto Corsa?
If you do a long race here in F1 cars I will die and go to heaven
or Can-Am
So someone converted TT Superbikes' Snaefell Mountain Course... Nice, I guess
No. This is the hand-made all original and almost lifetime work of Jim Pearson. Nothing ripped, converted or copied.
Hello I am wanting to return to sim racing
I have GPL & alien ware desktop
Can u recommend a modern sim wheel please
Some recommendations would be good..... I’m in a similar boat wanting to get back into GPL after 15 years + away from GPL. Used to have a Thrustmaster T2. I use a G27. I've had it for quite a long time but it has served me well
I replaced my dead G25 with a G920. It's a good wheel and works fine.
I might have to try this in Assetto Corsa...

I wish the gravel sound could be removed
It can if you change the car sounds. I don't know if an alternative sound exists for this specific mod, but you could use sounds for any mod.
but sorry, do you work or you can afford to avoid it? Because to spend so much time gaming i don't think you are working
