I cannot for the life of me understand how I was able to miss this option in vlc, like my god, my guy, you srsly just spared me so much headache of searching for some kind of converter, when I already had one under my nose this whole time, thank you! I just needed this, it works flawlessly and I'm just so thankfull I seen your vid first before anything, thank you for uploading this tutorial!
You're very welcome Chatadile. It is pretty neat that VLC provides such a versatile open source converter. VLC's core use case of course is as a multimedia player, however it has many underappreciate and under used tools too! Thank you for your awesome comment!
Awesome, thanks Man! One tip, VLC defaults to MP3 bitrate of 128 kb/s which will degrade sound quality. If you want better sound quality, click on the wrench next to MP3 and select the Audio Codec tab. Change the bitrate to 320 kb/s for optimal quality. Other common rates are 192 and 256. The higher the bitrate the better the sound quality, but keep in mind the file size also increases with higher bit rates.
Please - a very simple explanation of why I would want to change MP4 to MP3? I'm trying to troubleshoot why my USB stick isn't showing all my tracks so I'm wondering if it's because some of my music is mp3 and some is mp4. Thanks!
I don't know if I knew this and forgot, or didn't know it at all, but thank you either way!! This was sooo much easier than I was expecting! I've used VLC media player for years ans I'm very happy it can do this.
