  • Can't wait to see what the magnificent bastard can do as the de facto ruler of the north in Witcher 3 (someone has to stop Charles Dance). ALSO: HENSELT IS DEAD, SO DAMN RIGHT WE DENY YOUR RIGHT TO SPEAK

    What they did to Radovid in TW3 is the _single biggest disappointment of the whole game._ They claim he's mad. We don't see that. We see a grim, brooding, merciless monarch. And probably the greatest Northern king of all time: if you leave him alone, he manages to unite the entire North. Radovid V *the Great,* I say.
    He blinded Philippa Eilheart? SHE MURDERED HIS FATHER, and tormented/humiliated him throughout his childhood. She is a traitor, conspirator, and assassin - in the Middle Ages they'd have her _drawn and quartered,_ not blinded. I can't believe they let her have revenge.
    He goes after mages? So far as he knows, a conspiracy of mages killed two Northern monarchs, tried to kill a third, all in order to weaken the North for Nilfgaard. And in coordination with the Nilfgaardian invasion. Not only that, but going after these people will get him money he desperately needs to fight Nilfgaard. Ruthless, merciless, even cruel? Perhaps. Insane? No.

      The thing is he went full paranoid. He wasn't going after only the members of the Lodge but lesser mages, non-humans, herbalists and soothsayers. The books also go to show that his witch hunts would be remembered as a Dark Age and a lot of those he killed were elevated into sainthood and martyrdom

    • @dIRECTOR259

      @@MollymaukT Dude. Your country and region is being overrun by a murderous plundering evil empire (and yes that is how their previous 2 invasions are described in the books). Fuck the "herbalists". The guy saves the Northern Kingdoms from the Black Ones...
      As for the "Dark Age"... I dunno what books you read, but Sapkowski's Witcher books do not include any of these events. Radovid is still a kid by the end of that narrative.
      EDIT: P.s. One note regarding "witch hunts". They were a bad thing in the real world - because "witches" don't exist. In the Witcher setting, not only do they exist - but they're extremely dangerous, legitimately subversive, powerful and power-hungry, plotting to rule all from the shadows. They actually ordered the regicide of one of the four kings (Demavend). They didn't kill the other two, but nobody knows that. As far as Radovid's aware, he's the only major ruler they didn't kill. They're 3/4.
      Oh, and coincidentally they murdered the 3 kings RIGHT before a Black Ones invasion.
      AND, fact is mages/witches betrayed the North to Nilfgaard before.
      I mean you'd have to be some kind of moron NOT to start "witch hunts"...

    in the books Redania is the most powerful kingdom of all northern kingdoms and as mentioned by Djikstra in the books. , also you could say this is like a Thanedd Coup version of the games.

    • @cool06alt
      @cool06alt 2 года назад +5

      Redania is still aided greatly with Koviri money and manpower. But yeah in a way Redania was always that powerful until recently. The kingdom used to encompass most entire northwest of Northern realm.

      Besides the purging of the sorcerers, Letho’s quest, the fates of the Lodge sorceresses and Radovid becoming so paranoid that he prefers to deal matters on a ship than within a court. There are consequences

    Well, he manages to stop Nilfgaard ... but at what cost? I will chose Emhyr over what Radovid has become in Witcher 3 any time.

    • @Mr33500
      @Mr33500 8 лет назад +49

      Yeah Radovid has been ploughed by CD Project. Radovid is similar to Stannis that way, both of their characters were butchered. And all to make Emhyr the one who wanted to rape his daughter look better..
