  • Hey everybody, In this video I travel back to Jim Thorpe, on The Surly Krampus to try to find the southern terminus of The Switchback Gravity Rail trail. The Trail starts at the top of Packer Hill road, it's a pretty rough trailhead with no signs, or indications that a trail starts, The Switchback runs parallel to The Mauch Chunk Cemetery and isn't all that hard to find. I hope everybody finds this video informative and helpful. So stoked to have found another 20 miles of rough gravel, and a new Mountain to climb. If you have never been to Jim Thorpe, you must go. Stay Tuned for more adventures, Catch you on the trail.

    Remember going hiking there many years ago with my sister my mother probably my brother. Pennsylvania has so many nice forested areas stretching from Central Pennsylvania to Northern Pennsylvania.

    You're outthere slaying the gravel nice. I was out slaying the asphalt today did a Walmart run 15 mile round trip feeling good. Me thinks you had a better ride. Its a beautiful trail.

    How are you liking the flat bars? I've been riding drops for my entire life and have been wanting to get another bike with flats. Looks like it may be a bit easier to maneuver on trails like this. Nice video!!

      Love the flats, that’s the Salsa Whammy Bar, but miss the drops from time to time. I have more of an aggressive stance on the bike with these bars, I feel I can really whip around the front end. Love it.

    Wow!!!! When you take off that restrictor plate you really go places. What a nice find. Sometimes we don't even know what's in our backyards. Take care, Al

      Haha, this bike has changed my life. I have really exhausted the areas I ride in, lately I have been digging a little deeper and driving to ride other areas. Thanks for watching.

    really cool, tried doing the whole D&L but closures and the D&L map did not jive at all so we gave up and did a road tour. Wanted to drive to Thorpe and poke all around but worried we would run out fo milage. these types of trails would be perfect to add some miles/views

    • @TravelingThru222
      @TravelingThru222  Год назад +1

      They are working on the D&L, the northern section is complete, but there always seems to be construction around north hampton, just a short road ride around to the other sections of trail. I love that ride. Hope to see you out there.

      Thanks for watching. Yeah, Jim Thorpe in the fall is packed, good luck finding a parking spot. There is a passenger train that runs up Thru The Lehigh Gorge and in the fall it is quite spectacular.
