I call it a "lack of caffeine headache." Head ache is a withdrawal symptom of going without caffeine if you drank it regularly for at least 3 days or longer. Good episode! Stay Awesome! David
Love the very down to earth feel of this episode! And super nice to see you guys feeling more at home and comfortable with sailing - you've come a long way!
That’s amazing you picked up on that Peter!!! Def more down to earth, more raw, less edits, less polished! I’m very impressed Peter, very perceptive of you! I think I like it toooooo! ❤️❤️
Coffee headaches are definitely a thing for me. On race yachts we always took the transducers out when we were not moving. It’s a pain but a bigger pain is cleaning paddle wheels or not having speed data.
That's so interesting! Yeh, we were in the marina for a few days .. and boom! Doesn't take long up here in Great Barrier Reef territory! 😱 I always freak out when we put it in or take it out though, the water flooding in for that split second always scares the 💩 out of me!
Kristina, John giday, I gotta say I just totally get ur channel, I'm subscribed to many sailing channels and by far I enjoy u both so much more. I think it's the connection u both have to each other and the boat, I also love it that u keep things not just tidy but clean, I see so many boats that are just a mess and I cringe wondering how they manage to stay safe let alone sail anywhere. Thanks for sharing, I'm loving the Australian coast, Aussies Rule🇦🇺🤙🤣💙🌈
Nice one guys. I get completely immersed watching your adventures. Thinking how much I'd like to go sailing and visit these great spots. When reality kicks in the realization my wife and I are now full time liveaboards on our 50' blue water ketch after 2 years it still feels surreal.
Howdy guys, Ive been travelling to Lizard Island most years for the past 21 years servicing the Research Stations Microscopes and lived in FNQ (Cairns) for 25years. Currently in Wallaroo Sth Aus. on a 45ft Bayliner Cruiser. When you reach Lizard you should do the Monday morning Research Station Tour. You could contact Lyle or Anne (Research Station Managers with main office just off the beachfront) or organize thru the resort management. The Research Station performs a miriade of different research with scientists comming from all over the world. Berth the boat in Watsons Bay , Do the Cooks Look walk (320m) you can walk from Watsons to the resaerch station (2.5k) and beyond. My favourite snorkelling spot is Loomis Reef in the Blue Lagoon as some of the coral bleaching has dulled some colour of a few surrounding reefs. Most importantly the Marlin Bar (pub) is open Saturdays for yachties and maybe one night during the week. Turtles , Black Tips (they dont eat much) and rarely but is known to happen ,the occassional croc. The Goulds Sand Monitor (and lots of) is why cook named it Lizard Island. Also delve into Mary Watsons history and unfortunate death while her hubby was out doin Bech De Meer fishing (hope i spelt that right ) Luv your work and glad to see George doing a great job.
Hey Alan, WOW. That is SO cool. What an interesting job, absolutely fascinating. Yes, we can't wait to show you our experience at Lizard! All of the above, sounds absolutely epic. We have since departed, but you'd be happy to know we managed to squeeze all of your wonderful tips in, minus (thank goodness) a croc spotting! Hope to do the island justice, but it's just so beautiful in real life, I'm not sure it's going to be possible. I'll do my best! Thank you, and yes, George is quite the guy. 😁
Wow - an Aussie channel. It's so good to hear Strine on RUclips. Did I even detect some North Queenslandish? PLUS a cruising yacht, once a dream of mine. You've hooked me....
Totally.. boat maintain it truly a never ending story! But, John also likes everything to be in perfect working order onboard. Probably from his pilot training I suppose?? haha
Some smooth funky music in this episode! Heard some creative music editing on this one. Your sailing confidence leave seems to be very strong! Personally, Ii think you have an Awesome captin!
You can’t delete this till john sees it, I love his tech bits Katrina. Lol hahaha. You’re doing a great job of these. Well done. Radio and tv are great to work in but so much more fun when you can show your creativity. You have talent. Thanks for doing it. Will definitely give patroon a nudge. 😊
Some how your channel popped up? I LOVE WHAT YOU GUYS ARE DOING. What an incredible adventure. I am DEFINITELY subscribing to this. Stay safe my friends.
Each video is like watching a movie. Great editing. The waves at the end look rough. Hope the water gets smoother for you. "How salty you have become". That's good, I like it. All the Best.
Thank you so much for all your beautiful videos from extraordinary beautiful surroundings . In addition so perfectly and professionally well done editing all the shots along your journeys . Perhaps you someday find your way to the Finnish archipelago which is unique with its 1000:s of islands . You would likeley not find the high temperatures as you experience around Australia or the Mediterranean waters, but most likely between 20 and 30 ˚C during July . Max
Hey guys another brilliant episode & hey Kristina, sure beats 5 days a week at a TV station huh? Far more exciting & costly but hey you guys are on a journey of a lifetime & good on you. You really show what 2 amateur sailors can achieve so hats off to you. Dont know about coffee but sure is nice to have a hot one first thing in the morning. Take care guys.
Hey Phil!! WELCOME ABOARD! Thanks so much for joining us and working your way through :) Hope you've enjoyed the journey with us. You're joined at a great point actually, as we're getting into cyclone season and the storms are about to test us, big time! Have a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year x
We just love the videos from Tucana. However, northern QLD is perhaps as big as Norway in terms of land mass, BUT Norway has the world's second longest coastline (after Canada) with 101,000 Km and that is more than Australia's entire coastline. So from a sailor's perspective, you have a lot more, even challenging, areas to explore in Norway's subarctic and arctic regions. But as I said, we love the stories that flow in from Tucana. They are very entertaining and bring back fond memories of our many years in Australia. Safe sailing!
Not having coffee- or in my case, yea is a definite headache maker. At least the Navy ship passed by during day. I know someone who had a US Navy ship come up behind him off California coast at night- to make matters worse the ship was a stealth one, so it did not show up on radar either
Don’t know your situation but I think continuing around Australia would be brilliant. So much of the coast is unexplored once you get past Cairns. It would be amazing for you two to chronicle the Great North and Wild West coast.
Thanks for sharing your amazing time. Here in the Northern hemisphare in Europe we are in preparacion for the fall season. 🙋♀️🌝 Kind regards from Berlin, Germany. Lots of luck to you guys. 🍀
Ohhhhh Hey S K! Already feeling the cold chill? 😲 It's warming up down here I must say. Oh, oh! Germany!!! You know how I said Far North Queensland is the same size as Japan etc.. it's also the same size as Germany!!!! Crazy hey! Cheers and keep warm x
In my 15 years in the navy, cruised up and down the east coast transitioning from Sydney to Darwin. Also spent 2 years on Armidale Class Patrol Boat out of Darwin. Saw some amazing parts of Australia.
Wow Phillip!! That's absolutely incredible. I'm sure you've seen some incredible things in your time. Where's been your favourite place? Thanks too for your service mate and keeping Australia safe 🙂
@@KristinasTravels Thank you. Total has to be the awe inspiring North Western Australia from Ningaloo to Kimberly’s coastline. Loved the Whitsundays, closely followed by the reefs and islands around Cairns. The Thursday Islands are quite magical as well. Hopefully it won’t be much longer and I will off travelling in my own yacht around Australia.
Yeh, we really have started to relax a lot more now which is nice, because we get to stop and smell the roses rather than be constantly 'on it!', and we know our roles, I'm good on the anchor, lines etc... and John's great at weather planning, setting courses and overseeing the whole operation (so to speak!) We are getting there slowly but surly Sean! :)
Caffien withdrawal is definately a thing. Mine lasted 2 weeks when I gave up coffee at one point. Beware, my caffien toxicity symptoms where pains in right arm and chest.
Wowww! That is crazy!!! Must have been so hard to give it up. Two weeks of torture. Lucky for me, I hardly drink coffee, because I instantly get the shakes and feel anxiety weirdly enough?? Hope you're having a great weekend Brian! Cheers for joining us mate :)
I gave up coffee and cigarettes at the same, my head thumped !! and I eventually gave up on giving up. I now reduce the amount of coffee by having warm milk with sugar every 2nd cup, I make my coffee on pure milk and it's the best

Caffeine withdrawal can definitely cause headaches. Been there, done that, burnt that t-shirt.
