- The second part of firing up and steaming my live steam model locomotive 'Blanche'. The original is a Hunslet engine that ran on the Penrhyn Railway and the model was built from DJB Engineering castings. This loco is 16mm to the foot scale running on 'O' gauge track.
Great video building a Tich 3.5 inch with a S15 greene King waiting on the shelf when I have got more skill and knowledge so thanks for all your time as these really help
Thanks for your comment. You'll get a lot of satisfaction out of building and running your locos.
love your vids.Your a big kid playing on the floor like we all did in Christmas day
and the fluff that got in the wheels.
ok nuff nostalgia.
love your vids of industrual steam up north in the late 60s too
Another excellent instructional piece. Thank you.
Fantastic clip. And the model itself. Just a master peace. Please keep on making your clips.
Really nice loco and great craftsmanship, well done!
Impressive little loco. 👍🏼
"what an adorable little engine"
i know Im pretty off topic but does anybody know a good place to watch newly released movies online?
@Santana Kameron lately I have been using flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
Outstanding! Thank you!
Very pro work and very small space to put all of them .congratulation .
Really enjoyed your explanation of how the lubricator works. I know little about how steam locos work. Similar explanations on other component parts would be very interesting. I live in Worsley not far from Astley Green. I was born in 1966 and still feel like I remember seeing steam engines at the NCB at Walkden, but very hazy on this and not sure my memory serves me right. Great channel. From an enthusiastic non enthusiast
Thanks Graham, glad that you are enjoying the videos
So you _do_ have superheat on that little thing. I'd assumed not.
Adjusting there valve gear must've been a royal pain, due to both size and location.
Nice machine. Thanks for sharing!
Hi, all my engines have superheaters except the coal fired Russell and you are right about the valve gear.
@@GandyDancerProductionsamazing. Do you need formal boiler certs (as with the larger ones,) or do you do your own pressure checks? How often do you need to re-tube? I expect one advantage you have now is proximity to a lot more expertise, for all levels of repair.
I'd be quite satisfied if you discuss these maintenance issues and activities in a future (or past) video. No need for details here.
Vicariously yours!
@@77thTrombone Not for these little engines though a hydraulic test is needed when new. The bigger engine has a test every year.
Lovely!
Lovely engine but it wouldn’t survive a day on my railway partly because it’s 45mm, but partly because it’s so steep and so bumpy.
You'd be surprised what this little beasty can pull.
@@yeo5811 Would be an interesting challenge.
Beautiful locomotive, congratulations! Have you described the build on any forum? I'd love to read more about it.
Hi Calin, I don't have anything else about building this engine yet other than what you see on this RUclips channel. i'll describe building from the frames up using photos I took in the future.
супер 👍😁
You mention oil is drawn back into the boiler - do you not shut the regulator after running and wouldn't that stop oil reaching the boiler?
Hi Jason, it depends on how good a seal the the regulator is. With just a very small leak vacuum can be strong and with radio control you may not notice if the regulator is shut as the engine has usually run out of steam when you've finished running. Oil in the boiler could be quite troublesome.
I ALWAYS leave everything in the open/ loose position to stop them seizing shut/ close when the engine goes stone cold!
that is so cool. Did you make the piston yourself
Hi Yasser, the cylinder were raw castings I bought on Ebay so I had to machine them and cut the ports. The pistons I machined from scratch, they have O rings. The proportions of this cylinder set is identical to Roundhouse Engineering standard cylinders.
just wanted to ask
does the steam that is fed to the pistons is superheated?
Hi Geraldine, yes it is superheated. The steam passes over the burner on it's way to the cylinders.
