I don't know if you have STM memory issues, but LTM - definitely. Point me to ONE PC (specifically) shooter (I consider consoles since PS2 era a bane on the entire gaming industry) shooter from the old days (go back to ID's masterpiece Wolfenstein 3D even) that YOU UNLOCK cheats by beating it. CHEATS were always CHEATS - and especially in Game Genie stuff. Today we have trainers, so your point is moot at best, pointless at worst.
I’m mainly referring to games like tony hawk skateboarding, uncharted, driver. Games where you unlock game altering tweakers. But also, codes hammered in on the menu that give you an advantage. I don’t understand how my point is moot because I can’t name a PC shooter that unlocks cheats from wolfenstein era. I appreciate your perspective and thanks for watching!
Not just that, they were actual games that you played and not just interactive films. I'm so tired of cinematic gaming. I'd rather just play a fun video game. If I wanna watch a movie I'll do that instead.
@@GameRangerReviews88 It depends on how it’s handled. I’m referring to the games that interrupt the gameplay far too often and with scenes that are far longer than they should be. But I’ve enjoyed one or two before for sure.
and game devs were just better back then. they had limited tech to work with but managed to make these amazing and really fun games back then. aaa games these days feel like they're made by ai, and lack the heart and soul games had back then. indie devs are the modern exception. indie games excite me more now, because they feel like those amazing classics i miss. they may not have the visual flair that aaa games do, but the art style is often better and they're more fun. games like hollow knight, dead cells, slay the spire, and cuphead gave me far more hours of enjoyment than most modern aaa games. and indie devs will just keep getting better, while aaa devs continue to get worse. indie devs are my only hope for the future of gaming. i have a dozen emulators on my phone and have been playing a lot of old games i never played before. the ds and psp have a lot of surprisingly amazing games, especially the ds. i just got a new phone that can even handle a lot of dreamcast, gamecube, and ps2 games. i'm playing skies of arcadia for dreamcast now and enjoying it a lot. i get more excited playing these old games for the first time than i do playing new games.
Game companies create a problem to sell you the solution. Excessive grinding to sell you XP. Excessive traveling to sell you fast travel items. It really pisses me off. I don't buy microtransactions period. If you make the game grindy and boring I just won't play it.
It really is. I've been playing through Fallout 4, and I am doing these mundane side quests just for the sake of competition and achievements. Where is the fun in that.
Unlockables really ARE dearly missed. I'm so glad we have 20+ years worth of 3d games with cool vibes & unlockables. I'd like to think that my backlog will keep me busy until I'm old & decrepit.
God the days of staying up late playing Melee. I remember when I unlocked Mewtwo. I had NO idea he was in the game so to say it was a surprise is an understatement.
@@GameRangerReviews88 I feel you. The exp back then, experiencing everything live as new games were introduced, gaming magazines covered them, gaming channels broadcasted them. It was awesome.
I was born in 1980 and it was *perfect* - I played the Sega & Nintendo consoles (NES/Super Nintendo & Sega Master System/Megadrive/Genesis) which were fun. But the PS1 dropped when I was 15! Playingt Resident Evil, Tekken, Twisted Metal, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid etc starting at 15.. Just incredible.
Yep, I was there in the 16 bit era (though little, '88 over here), I was there in the 32 bit era, but more importantly, I was there in the 6th gen which was amazing! I was also there when PS3 and 360 dropped and were my first- and last consoles I bought with my own money as a young man. Then I went PC full time.
This is exactly why I still play my PS3 and recently went back to playing PS2, OG Xbox, and GameCube and been having way more fun playing those then my PS5 lately, I miss how simple and fun gaming used to be, no microtransactions, no always online/ online requirement, no live service, no dlc thats actually part of the base game locked behind a pay wall, no day one patches/ games released incomplete, just complete games all on the disk, no installs just pop in and play, simpler times, with games that were way more fun and had way more replay value than whats out now....Now (with the exception of nintendo) the modern consoles feel too much like PCs, exclusives are almost nonexistent, and too many games now feel more like a chore than actually being fun to play, this is exactly why consoles before the 8th gen will never die
I’m actually thinking of a doing a PS3 video discussing why people need to have one now, and for a lot of the reasons you mentioned. Thanks for watching!
@cooparchive7857 I don't, atleast for right now, but I plan on modding all three eventually, but for the mean time I use component cables instead of the red white and yellow AV ones
I don't know about that whole game is being released completel without needing a patch cuz even back on the NES some s*** got released that was you know totally not complete and complete pile of trash.
i think this day one patch crap is intentional, at least partially. it basically lowers the desire for physical games, something they've been trying to do for years. and knowing you'll never have the complete, unbroken game on a disc like you used to. indie devs are my only hope for the future of gaming. they make games that feel like more modern versions of great classic games, and they try new and exciting things. they got me into new genres of games that i really enjoy, like roguelikes and deck building games like slay the spire. it's crazy to me that hollow knight was made by 3 people, and it's the largest metroidvania game i've ever played, then nintendo with it's hundreds of employees makes a new 2d metroid game that's 5-6 hours long and linear. i have no idea how people can accept this crap from aaa devs, when indie devs are giving you so much more for a fraction of the price. hollow knight was $15 and crap like metroid dread was $60.
I've started to play my ps 3 again. I know it's not as retro as ps2 but it's still games on a disc with a minor update. Once you update the game it's playable offline. Excellent video.
@@GameRangerReviews88 The PS2 version is blurry when emulated. I actually recommend the PC version (the older version, not the remaster!). Believe it or not, people still play Battlefront 2 online.
There were bugs though that could never be patched. Most notable is the ps2 version of Battlefront 2 the ai can't use heroes in instant action due to a coding error.
Agreed, that pick-up-and-play-ability is so good in old games. And not only is it the simplicity, but they drew you back in, you WANTED to play them repeatedly. And time flied, 2 hours felt like 20mins because you were having a blast. And I think that added to that approachability, compacting the experience into something that doesn't feel heavy or riddled with barriers to fun. Whereas now you get told you have to "invest", "immerse yourself" and "work on your attention span" just to experience unskippable cutscenes, scripted sequences and more that does everything to delay or remove fun/gameplay away from you. Add to that the trend of depressing storylines trying to lecture morals to you like it's school all over again. It's the opposite of drawing you in and entertaining you - you feel more like you're forcing yourself to wade through a draining experience.
Respect bro from South Africa....being a 90s kid...these days I find myself only playing mostly older games these days too. Become disillusioned with new games and their trends that you all mentioned as issues with modern gaming
I still have my old GameCube from 2011. Old neighbors was moving I helped them move and the lady gave me a GameCube with some rare games for free. Still have it to this day.
Exactly! Thanks for watching mate. I recently picked up MK1 on PS5 and I’m going to do a video comparing it to Armageddon. Let’s just say MK1 has been plagued by micro transactions and dlc.
I'm like 8 years ahead of you on that. Sure I've played a few recent games but not many. Good video to listen to while working, keep up the great content mate
it's why i ditched doling out cash for a big pc upgrade. my used 1060 3gb fried, and instead of a 40 series I bought a new 3050 4gb msi laptop for 600 bucks. Very rarely am I excited for new games for the list of reasons you provided, and even if I am there are still a lot of potential setbacks with promising titles. I'm mostly emulating or playing stuff between 1995-2007.
You still need a good processor and a good graphics card to emulate later consoles like the PS3. Hell even the PS2 needs a decent processor to be able to emulate correctly.
@@soulessone420 my 1060 could emulate 7th gen fine for the most part, only the kill zones were no good, but is it really worth paying several hundred more dollars to play that when most 7th gen was ported to pc anyway. I love my 3050 msi laptop. Does everything needed and then some.
Emulating with a high-end crt filter is pretty awesome. Especially if the game has pre-rendered background, makes the 3d models and 2d textures blend together as intended. It's crazy how much better games from this era looked when played on the expected hardware.😊
It’s like we are only seeing the true vision for the game now. I remember seeing the screenshots on the case for games and thinking “why doesn’t it look this good when I play it?” And now I know it’s because they used gameplay from the PC used to make the game, at the highest resolution at the time. That’s my theory, at least. Thank you so much for watching!
I've realized that despite growing up during the Gameboy and PS era, there are so many games I missed to due lack of availability and me being a kid at the time. Why on earth am I spending hefty amount on a modern game, when I can just go through the old ones ? Its like we are brainwashed to think newer = better.
I’ve completely abandoned modern systems at the moment. Don’t even own a series console or ps5 I’m currently playing my original Xbox picking up games I missed growing up.
Im slowly going back to retro. Some retro games on my ps5. But since i modded my vita & finally figured out the roms thing, i been playing nes, snes & genesis games. No logging in, no wifi, just turn on and play. Straight old school.
The PS3 and 360 era had digital distribution, but it's so tame in comparison to how terrible things have gotten today. Also GOTY editions had most important DLC on discs, that isn't happening these days.
I really liked what you did here! You're honest and your content is good! You got yourself a follower, my friend! Please keep up the good work! PS: I'm a huge fan of Burnout 3.
Game distribution is BS now too! I don't want my games being tied to a subscription. I want to be able to backlog my games, and get to them years down the road, and still have access to them without having to have paid a subscription all this time, and for said games to be the same years later as they are now. Is that too much to ask? DRM of any kind is BS, TBH. The pirates are the good guys now because now no one can come between us and our games.
I was born in 2002 and for the last few years ive basically played nothing but games from 2005-2013/ish. That entire gen is just perfect to me. So many classics from the 360 and ps3.
Your birth certificate is as old as my high school diploma 🤣. I still hold to the games for the snes, though the 360 time frame has some really good games.
360 era was really great but Original Xbox , Ps2, Gamecube era felt like the true last gen of retro gaming. Post Xbox360 everything feels modern . Nothing has really changed much in the last 10,15 years.
I love oldschool games way more than modern games. I grew up in the 90's with Snes, sega, ps1, N64. Started going back to them along with a lot of indie games 👌
I also find myself going more and more back to older games. Playing through the 2021 Quake remaster right now, along with Vampire Savior. Much better to go back to old classics than to waste money only to be disappointed again.
There are a lot of reasons to go back to retro games! I grew up playing the Nintendo 64 and I have a lot of memories of playing games with my family. This was a great video! I can’t wait to see more! 🥰
I feel like playing retro games before my time too as i feel like people can still get that same feeling today as they did back then if you have in mind that developers back then were trying to push the boundaries of what they had and made good use of it. (Edit: Well, maybe not multiplayer experiences but definitely single-player experiences)
I did the all-nighter in the PS2 era when I was in college. My mom wouldn't let me stay up all night and play with my friends when I was younger. We ordered Domino's pizzas, two big bags of cheddar and sour cream Ruffles. Pepsi and Sprite. Good times
I bought Mortal Kombat 1 on PS5. 148GB to install. More than half required to download from the internet. I’m not sure exactly how much of the game I actually got over the counter. Pretty heart breaking!
Totally agree...I miss buying a game for $60 and you got the game. Everything now is "Pay this amount to get this thing" it takes the skill out of getting rewards and also bragging rights. I get some options to buy, especially as a middle-aged gamer and being low on grind-time.
I'm in my early 20s and I absolutely love retro games. I consider myself lucky that I got exposed to retro gaming consoles from gen 4 and onward in my childhood, with my favorites being the SNES, PSX, and og Xbox, PC and the good ol arcade. I love to sit down and enjoy games that I never got to touch when I was young, like legendary shmups, fighters, classic shooters (I love modded DOOM), and awesome RTS games like Dawn of War. I can't really find very many options in modern gaming, which makes me a little sad, since there's so much potential there, and there are golden titles that do exist, like GoW: Ragnarök, Elden Ring, BG3, or Modern Minecraft (somewhat).
@RetroRangerReviews88 PS2 and up to the wii U till now. I've beaten what I wanted on the Snes, sega, and n64. I bought three crt tvs. One sd for light guns games and one for 480p and anotber for for wide screen but unfortunately the 34xbr970 needs a recap. I also want to spend my time on rythem games, especially DDR. Im also a couch co-op type player.
So many people hear the word Retro and immediately think of Atari, Nintendo, Sega, ETC but what they may not realize is that Wii, PS3, and 360 are now considered retro as well. So yeah there’s a MASSIVE library of games to go back to or play for the first time.
When I was a kid, I could only play pirated games. But I played Need for Speed 3. I also played Landing. But because of the Internet and other restrictions, the games I could play were very limited. Console games from the PS1-PS3 era were out of my reach. But I still played the first few generations of Call of Duty. It was probably between 2006 and 2008. Games really made me happy. Unlike now, there is a list of games, but there are only a few games that I would really choose.
Yeah I've been downloading a bunch of repacks from the end of the PS3/360 era. Like right now I'm playing through Sniper Elite 3! Also playing through the Need for Speed games! I agree with the comments, as long as repairmen will exist, and gaming nerds like us do that care enough about the systems to learn simple tuneups and proper care, gaming before the 8th generation will live on forever! Hell, I absolutely adore my 3DS still to this day! When I bring it out it's a really good conversation starter! Everyone has memories with those 😊
I've been playing retro games more and more and more since about 2021 or so. And honestly, after so many years feeling like I didn't "get" retrogamers, now I do. I still don't go back to the NES era and stuff, I really can't stomach those super old games. But SNES/Genesis onwards, almost anything goes. I grew up on the early days of PC citybuilders/RTS and the PS2 golden days. And I've went through a process of playing games from a few years back, to 10 years back, to 12, 15, 20 and more... Nowadays I literally can't stop playing DOOM and Quake. Games I don't have nostalgia for because I missed them growing up. Retrogaming has been a gate into discovering cool games I never knew existed, and experiencing great gameplay and music and stories. From the arcades in the 90s to the arena shooters of the early 2000s, dozens of racing games and more. All the while we're all done and tired with the modern landscape of gaming, not because the games suck (some of them do) but because of the industry's constant push for greed and stealing your time and manipulating you. So yeah, retrogaming is great. Plus, if you're a broke gamer with a weaker computer, you can play hundreds of amazing games for free with emulators and abandonware PC games. Or just buy old games on sales on GoG and Steam, they go as cheap as $1-5 sometimes. What I'm trying to say is, even if the gaming industry exploded toomorrow and I lost access to the Internet, I still have enough games on me that I will literally never finish playing. 30 years of rich history at my fingertips.
Exactly! This is a brilliant comment and what you said at the end is what excites me the most. 1000s of games I’ve never experienced right here for me to try. I love it. Thank you so much!
I've honestly been doing this for the past year. Especially since alot of newer games are no longer being printed physically. I just miss when you got a full game, you had a completed product. Even as recent as the Ps3 era, they still had games on the disc, and most of the time they were complete and didn't need an upgrade. Infamous comes to mind, amazing games. I think the only games in present day that give off the feeling of a completed game from the Retro era are indie games.
I agree 100%. Indie devs are keeping this kind of thing alive which is backwards, when you think about it. I’d have thought the definition of AAA would be market leading, standard setting games and game companies. Great comment and thanks for watching!
As someone who's experienced atari in diapers at 3 up to ps 4pro cross gen i gotta say ps1,2 n 3 n snes hold dear in my heart n i still play all my ps1,2 n 3 games to this day not just my ps4 . been more on my ps lately then ps4. LIKED N SUBBED
The thing is before everyone started releasing broken, unfinished games there was a time when we still had the capability to update via the internet while also still getting working complete games. We used to just have DLC or small patches that in the past would've required new copies of the game to be printed. Standards were still in place but over the years the state a game can be released in has just kept getting worse.
Honestly if I didn’t plug my ps3 back in (in 2021) and set up some emulators I most likely would’ve stopped gaming as a whole. Getting back into the ps2/xbox & ps3/360 era games really reminded me what gaming is suppose to be. It’s nice knowing there’s other out there still loving these great consoles and not letting themselves be trapped into the “oh these graphics suck so game must be bad” mindset
Im getting back into collecting Sega Genesis games. For those years up until the XBox 360 I mainly played sports sims (Madden, NHL etc..) I missed out on a lot of great games that I see now but didnt know they existed or wasn't interested in back then. Most of the games I play now are retro or 2D side scrolling which almost didn't exist for a long period.
Retro games are great! Grew up playing Super Mario on an N64 emulator on a windows XP PC and you can bet as soon as I get myself a PC again I'll be getting all the old games I used to have! Icy Tower, Plants vs Zombies, Warlords Battlecry II, could spend hours on playing through the full game and unlocking everything, and didn't need internet or anything to update the games cos it was all in the completed version. Great discussion vid! Looking forward to see what comes next!
Oh, I don't see anybody in the comments trying to identify the games you had in the background. I know a goodly few of them, but I am curious as to what that 3D Space Invaders one is called and which platform it can be played on. If anybody could point me in the right direction that would be grand!
Seem like someone I could converse with for hours. Really great video with lots of insight I find. I will say though. Bring the volume of your voice up just a touch. Stuck between trying to listen to a good voice and some good music. Keep it up!
Nice video, I also prefer playing older video games, and not even out of nostalgia; I like discovering older games that I missed out on. The only reason I bought a Xbox Series X was due to Microsoft bringing back a fair amount of their legacy titles with their backwards compatible program. Also as for the question that you posed about the video games being showcased in the video are: Avatar The Last Air Bender, Burnout 3 Takedown, Medal of Honor Frontline, Mortal Kombat Deception, Micro Machines (2002), Space Invaders Anniversary, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, and Wild Wild Racing.
Nice! Same here, I’ve got plenty of weird, lesser known titles I’m looking forward to playing and reviewing. Nice job on the guess! You got just one wrong though 😜
@@GameRangerReviews88 I figured it out, it's Mortal Kombat Deception being featured in the video, and not Armageddon. I had the answer right in front of me, I over thought it and I thought you were being cheeky with the Avatar game having a different regional title. 😆
I own the big 3 systems. After the newness wore off, I bought an upscaler for my ps2 and went back to that. Like you, the updates, day one patches etc... I'm over it.
I've only just got around to finally watching this video. Not as fluid as your newer ones, but still good to listen to. I actually watched this on a brand new device- I'm sure you can guess which one! The frustrating thing, though, is that I have to download everything. My internet is also fairly slow, so a bigger game takes 10+ hours to download! I've actually not played anything on it yet, it's mostly just been sitting around downloading stuff, haha!
@@GameRangerReviews88 True, it's manageable if you leave it overnight, and are prepared to basically not use it for the first few days. And thank you very much! I've already got one or two ideas about less obvious things I feel like talking about...And also some unexpectedly chaotic first impression clips 😅
I have stopped keeping up with new releases for a long time now. Old games are often very good, cheap, nicer to look at (not because of graphics but design) and simpler to get into.
Emulate those games, they look 100x better on current hardware. I'm having a blast emulating PS2 games like curse of darkness, GOW, Shadow of the colossus
I completely understand, I have a great retro collection on my PS4 pro. I sit back and throw my old school playlist on Spotify and just jam to my retro games. I honestly have no desire to buy a current gen console because I'm kind of burnt out with cinematic gaming.
Another viewer mentioned cinematic games too. I think one game does it very well, like uncharted, last of us, and every developer feels the need to get in on that action. I love “fun first” games! Thanks for watching!
One thing is it was litterally impossible for one retro system to look and sound the same as the other. Ports of the same games were completely different. Sega Genesis had its own look and sound as well as SNES. The PS2 was the last system that had it's own style and look.
Been playing since the NES and have always been a modern and retro gamer but after this gen I'm done with modern gaming and going fully retro. Already for over a year I've mostly been a retro gamer.

Got a good PC that can run emulators like Duckstation and Dolphin? Or a console like an Xbox Classic for games that aren't backwards compatible? Then seize the chance and balance out the middle market games and rare AAA successes of the modern day with Retro Videogames! [ditto for oldschool PC games, too]
I play newer titles and they're pretty fun, I just don't bother with buying many of them due to the fact the production cost of making games has gone up alot, along with games being more expensive, predatory micro transactions, etc. I enjoy my backlog of games I currently have for my older consoles, though also being a dude in his mid 20's who is getting his life in order, I don't have much time either.
I hear you! Being the breadwinner and a Dad means I have to choose my games carefully. Baldurs Gate 3 looks amazing but I just can’t set aside the time for something like that. So Burnout 3 it is! Thanks for watching!
The ps2 Is by far the best system ever made tons of fun games too choose from Im sooooo satisfied with my ps2 for years too come Its just absolutely pure fun 😊 happy 😅
Burnout 3 (emulated) - Load up the game, choose an event, and while you're in the car selection screen, press F9 to switch to software rendering. Start the event and when it finishes loading and goes to the actual event, press F9 to switch back to the faster, hardware rendering. See if you notice any difference. :) BTW, this only has to be done once per session, and it works on the other Burnout games as well.
@@GameRangerReviews88 Yes, I think the black sky bug was fixed in a more recent version, unfortunately, I have a very old computer and can't run the latest versions. Thankfully the F9 trick fixes the sky for those older versions. F9 also fixed some graphical issues I had in the game Portal Runner. Namely that the gems were all untextured and the HUD for the bow didn't show up. I don't think they ever fixed the bug where the sun shows through other objects though. Not really a problem in Burnout 3, but it can be in Burnout Revenge where the sun is sometimes lower in the sky. I think someone created a cheat/patch to turn off the sun though.
@@GameRangerReviews88 ok that makes sense now... I should have been able to guess that though after seeing how big the environment was in contrast to the boats lol. I never played any of the MM games but it looks like I'll be firing up PCSX2 for some micro racing now!😂 Thanks my friend👍
I own a Series X, for amazing retro games/remakes. I own 3 modern games that I play on occasion: Diablo 4(constantly trying to upsell me), Starfield(not to bad), Space Marine 2( actually a lot of fun).
I also find old games satisfying and try to interest my son in them. Since I'm on the PC side this is very easy. Most of the games were available on DOS and early Windows so it's trivial to get them playable on a "modern" (10 year old) system. GOG sells them for a buck or so per game (patched to run on Win-10 or through their DOSbox) and others can be downloaded from the web. If push comes to shove there are embedded html versions on retro sites for thousands of them. The bad thing is that my son likes playing Doom to much after I introduced him to this masterpiece.
I like just jumping on a game and being able to play instead of having to go through an extensive learning curve to be able to play. These training requirements also put me off going back to a game later if i haven't played it in a while
I think the comments under this video are very biased, all are of retro games fans. I have spend back in the days over 10k for PS1 and PS2 games ..... to be honest, I can't play them anymore. It takes sometimes under 30 minutes and I got bored, I don't what it is sometimes it's the graphic, sometimes the physics or the lack of depth.
@@GameRangerReviews88 There is a little chance, because I still own all of them and the consoles .... but first must I play over 500 modern games, so many games - so little time. ^^ My main focus is since few years on gatcha games because they offer the content I enjoy the most.
As someone also going back to retro games in my spare time, I do disagree with exclusives. I've always hated exclusives because I don't want to have an entire console for the 3 or 4 exclusives on it that I'm interested in. If everything comes to PC then I don't have to worry about having a specific console or emulator for a couple of games. I don't have (or want) current Gen consoles so having them on PC is a good way for those companies to get a sale from me.
Great comment! You’re not the first to point this out and it’s something I understand and agree with. Having to throw a heap of money at Sony and Microsoft to experience great games is just too much. But I’m unsure of the purpose of different consoles if power and capability are similar and every game is available on both. What do you think? Thanks for watching!
The reason I decided to go back to retro gaming and focus on cartridge games is because owning physical media now makes no sense. Like you said, you only own a fraction of the game and will have to download the rest. I rather have a self-contained experience that I can keep indefinitely. I don't have much faith in the games I own for my PS5. PC is a different beast because of the communities that would maintain a project long after it's gone, but if someone says "do you own Decapatack or Golden Axe" I can say wholeheartedly "YES"
The height of fun/graphic/variety altogether was during the latter half of the PS2 era. Seems like its time for SEGA to make a surprise comeback . I've just gotten back into PS2 after a 15yr hiatus. I never got into the subsequent platforms and seeing the trend of the industry I doubt that will change any time soon.
games didn't feel manufactured in those days, and the internet didn't draw any interest in terms of what the game should look like. We'll never get that back again, so we enjoy the old games. People were waiting on the next great thing back then, better graphics, and technology which was ever evolving.
The idea of Guitar Hero being released today (assuming no plastic-peripheral music games had been released), is such an interesting thought experiment you created. I also thought that may never fly today, but I also purchased Ring Fit Adventure and LABO for my Switch, one of which isn't even a PLASTIC peripheral. Y'know, who am I to talk? I do think part of it is the inaffordability of a large living space nowadays, when we were in our parents' houses it was no problem for a lot of us. Now, I can't imagine giving up our precious apartment space for a whole-ass plastic drumset.
As someone who grew up with the 360 era I still love retro games more even back in 2013 I saw the change how every game felt the same and I went back to the 80s love it even the bad games from the 80s are better than modern games.
@@necrosx1872 it never did for me either, but I had been playing modern games, mostly, it’s like I have rediscovered an amazing library of games from 20 years ago and it’s anazing!
Were you using an old version of PCSX2? The black sky in Burnout 3 is already fixed on the latest nightly builds. Also, don't give your voice reverb or add bass, make sure your voice is clear and get a pop filter, try to lower the volume of your background music. If you have any sort of frame resample in your video editor, disable it.
You are 100% correct and all following videos have been perfect! You can tell I’m not lying about going back to retro games, my pcsx2 build was outdated. All sorted now 🙂
What a refreshing comment on a RUclips video, people providing constructive criticism and a creator taking it as such, everyone wins. Really enjoyed this video, keep up the good work and please keep doing what you're doing!
I bought I rog ally just so I can just cleaning up my back catalog in a convenient/new way. Man I got some virtue prince glasses and play 6th/7th gen having more fun then I had in a while with traditional gaming. Modern games just seem to suck me dry I can’t do it anymore

When video games actually played like video games instead of being a digital salesman constantly trying to sell you something...
Nicely said!
Not just that, they were actual games that you played and not just interactive films. I'm so tired of cinematic gaming. I'd rather just play a fun video game. If I wanna watch a movie I'll do that instead.
@@frankwest911 I’m not against cinematic games, but you’re right in saying “fun first” games are not as common these days at all. Thanks for watching!

Most video games today feel like jobs. Most old games quickly put you at ease and don’t let go.
Exactly!
😂
@RetroRangerReviews88 they are jobs just with no pay.

They're also finished products. Classic games like budokai and Ultimate spider-man made me glad to grow up during the ps2.
Exactly!
Ps2 and og xbox you have retrotink or hdmi mods for them?
Thanks mate! I recently bought a PS3 and plan on doing a video on the PS3 experience in 2024 👍
I still jump between my ps3 n ps4 pro.Ps3 is still solid n plays my ps3 n ps1 games n they're still great
Don’t forget games didn’t take 10 hours to update. Just turn on the ps2 and play battlefront without waiting for a update
Ah man I miss battlefront on ps2. I’ve gotta get it again and emulate it.
Insert quarts, press start. That's how it was for me. Oh yeah press kick, press punch, press jump. And the character reacted right away.
Unskippable cutscenes should be class as a heinous crime lol thanks for watching!

That’s the period I’m focusing on myself! I just had a mate over, and we spent a few hours in Burnout Revenge. We had an absolute blast!

I'm playing all retro games my favorites on my modded ps3 and I have been having having so much fun
I really liked what you did here! You're honest and your content is good! You got yourself a follower, my friend! Please keep up the good work! PS: I'm a huge fan of Burnout 3.
Great! My next video will be in Burnout 3 🙂
I miss not having to hold down a button and waiting for a circle to fill just to perform an action
I was born in 2002 and for the last few years ive basically played nothing but games from 2005-2013/ish. That entire gen is just perfect to me. So many classics from the 360 and ps3.

This is so true. I do not enjoy new games as much. Really just replaying my favorite ones and maybe trying something I missed in the past.
Good times

PS5 is my last modern console. I won't go with the times anymore when it comes to videogames. I will beat my back log first.

@RetroRangerReviews88 almost all original. Moded wii U and ps2 of course. lol
So many people hear the word Retro and immediately think of Atari, Nintendo, Sega, ETC but what they may not realize is that Wii, PS3, and 360 are now considered retro as well. So yeah there’s a MASSIVE library of games to go back to or play for the first time.
And boy, am I glad about that!

I love playing older games from my childhood! Mostly from N64!
Nice! I love N64 games
Got a good PC that can run emulators like Duckstation and Dolphin? Or a console like an Xbox Classic for games that aren't backwards compatible? Then seize the chance and balance out the middle market games and rare AAA successes of the modern day with Retro Videogames! [ditto for oldschool PC games, too]
Nicely said and thanks for watching!
Man I’m in bliss too. The PS2 has the best library of games, period. Thanks for watching!
@@GameRangerReviews88 most definitely literally thousands of games just super fun
BTW, this only has to be done once per session, and it works on the other Burnout games as well.
Oh cool, I’m gonna try it. I did update pcsx2 and fixed the graphical errors. Check out my 2024 review 🙂 thanks for watching!!
Reason 1: no segments where you hold forward at walk speed and listen to exposition dumping waiting for gameplay to start again
Great song in the background
So what's the name of the motorboat racing game at 7:30 that has a character named "Frank N Stein"? I'm not familiar with it lol.
Micro Machines on PS2
These training requirements also put me off going back to a game later if i haven't played it in a while
Glad I’m not alone!
That’s okay, these older games are t for everyone. I hope your love for them is reignited again one day. Thanks for watching mate!
@@GameRangerReviews88 There is a little chance, because I still own all of them and the consoles .... but first must I play over 500 modern games, so many games - so little time. ^^
My main focus is since few years on gatcha games because they offer the content I enjoy the most.
@@paluxyl.8682 nice! Thanks for replying mate.
To be fair im going bk to retro games as well
Yes, let’s do it!
Nostalgia in a video. Nothing more.
Best reason I have is backlog
I still have a ps2 backlog
Not a bad backlog to have! Thanks for watching!
I feel like switch games still hold the old video game formula, even though i don't play any unfortunately.
I never tried Labo! Is it good? There was the Mario kart augmented reality thing too. Great comment!
You were then paying for what you were getting and now you get what you pay for.
Exactly! I’m thinking of doing a Recent V Retro series where I put older games up against new ones and see which is better value. What do you think?
As someone who grew up with the 360 era I still love retro games more even back in 2013 I saw the change how every game felt the same and I went back to the 80s love it even the bad games from the 80s are better than modern games.
I’m yet to go back to the 80s era of gaming but I know I’ve got some great stuff waiting for me there!
By the title, it implies that I left behind Retro Games... but I've been only playing them for 90% of my gaming sessions the last decade.
Sorry mate, do you mean my title is misleading or?
@@GameRangerReviews88 I mean that Retro Games never really went out of style, at least for me.
@@ciaranmccarthy thanks mate! I’ll take help any way I can 🙂
I bought I rog ally just so I can just cleaning up my back catalog in a convenient/new way. Man I got some virtue prince glasses and play 6th/7th gen having more fun then I had in a while with traditional gaming. Modern games just seem to suck me dry I can’t do it anymore
Awesome video man 😎!
Thank you so much mate! I appreciate you taking the time to watch it!
@@GameRangerReviews88 You’re welcome man 😃!
I love you man!!
I love you too, mate! Thanks for watching!
Do major Nintendo releases require these two-hour updates?
I can’t say I’ve experienced that to be honest. Nintendo are doing a great job for the most part. Thanks for watching!
I'm 36 and also doing the Great Retro Exile.
