What I do, is make and break level one blue or green gear over and over, because when you make level one gear, there are six materials that are not used: heart, palm leaf, black iron, thick hide and magic spar. Random materials are returned. You slowly pile up certain kinds. And level one gear is free to make if people are online to push help. 💖

I tried it with a green gear 2 greens input= 10 whites break down output=6 whites for a loss of 4 whites

I gamble all my purple 25 to lv 30 legendary using 2 leg materials, 4 succeeded on first try, and other 2 took 3 tries.
