  • In the opinions of many 'experts' on the history of singing and opera, Australian soprano, Joan Sutherland, was a Händelian without peer. This performance of the final aria of Cleopatra from Händel's GIULIO CESARE - "Da tempeste il legno infranto" - fairly proves that theory. It was included in a concert in The Hague on October 11th, 1969 with orchestra conducted by Richard Bonynge.

Curious what more she sung at the concert and if there is more recorded.

Such consistency of tone and purity of pitch, and such a glow over all the voice. I enjoy her work very much, and am grateful for this recording.
