- In the opinions of many 'experts' on the history of singing and opera, Australian soprano, Joan Sutherland, was a Händelian without peer. This performance of the final aria of Cleopatra from Händel's GIULIO CESARE - "Da tempeste il legno infranto" - fairly proves that theory. It was included in a concert in The Hague on October 11th, 1969 with orchestra conducted by Richard Bonynge.
Glorious singing. Fabulous photo.
Why haven't I heard this before? It's amazing!!!! Briljant and so rich.
Curious what more she sung at the concert and if there is more recorded.
Thank you for sharing. 🙏🌹
Such consistency of tone and purity of pitch, and such a glow over all the voice. I enjoy her work very much, and am grateful for this recording.
