Lyrics:
Lead kindly Light amidst the grey and gloom
The night is long and I am far from home
Here in the dark I do not ask to see
The path ahead one step enough for me
Lead on lead on kindly Light
I was not ever willing to be led
I could have stayed but I ran instead
In spite of fear I followed my pride
My eyes could see but my heart was blind
Lead on lead on kindly Light
And in the night when I was afraid
Your feet beside my own on the way
Each stumbling step where other men have trod
Shortens the road leading home to my God
Lead on lead on
My God my God

I am reading Corrie Ten Boom’s wonderful book the hiding place. They have just arrived at Ravensbrook concentration camp and her sister had started singing this beautiful hymn. All the women started singing with them. So moving. Thank you Jesus.
That part brought me here.
I was depressed , I came across this and your voice has made my sadness go away. Thank you so much.
Jesus heals depression! He is the great physician! Best depression food is reading the Holy Bible. May He bless you and give you peace
I remember reading this beautiful poem by Saint John Henry Newman in my school days..... Truly inspiring in the darkest moments of ones life. This hymn was one of the favorites of Mahatma Gandhi. Love from India 🇮🇳
Such a lovely rendition of such a wonderful olde hymn...a deep great comfort to me, The Presence that goes before!
I want to learn this song and sing it when my church choir starts singing again.
So nice. I cried listening to this.
Wow.. the piano is so touching.. precious words.. :)
Moving to tears.
O’er moor and fen, o’er crag and torrent, till the night is gone.
St. John Henry Newman, pray for us
So beautiful
It truly comforts me, thank you my lord, and thank you sister :)
Thank you for sharing your incredible gift with us
Happy Feast day of Saint John Henry Newman 2021!
1. Lead, kindly Light, amid th’encircling gloom;
Lead thou me on!
The night is dark, and I am far from home;
Lead thou me on!
Keep thou my feet; I do not ask to see
The distant scene-one step enough for me.
2. I was not ever thus, nor pray’d that thou
Shouldst lead me on.
I loved to choose and see my path; but now,
Lead thou me on!
I loved the garish day, and, spite of fears,
Pride ruled my will. Remember not past years.
3. So long thy pow’r hath blest me, sure it still
Will lead me on
O’er moor and fen, o’er crag and torrent, till
The night is gone.
And with the morn those angel faces smile,
Which I have loved long since, and lost awhile!
No words to express
Beyond words 🙏💐💐💐💐💐💙💙💙💙💙
