The Amy joke gotta be the best in the show. Imagine being her actor, invited for an episode again after so long and thats the scene
Hey, no dialogue to learn, no costume fittings to endure, and you'll earn a terrific laugh. What's not to like? 😁
She was there the previous season.
Still makes me laugh after like 100 viewings.
@@happyslapsgiving5421At this point it would have been about a full year since she was last on set.
I always wonder how the call from her agent went. "Hey, they want you for an appearance on Buffy! No, no lines, no special costumes, just and appearance and some emoting..."
Spike always has scalpel-like precision when it comes to his perception. He can roll into town, see the Scoobies for 5 minutes, and call them all out. I love it!
Probably helps that he enjoys upsetting the apple cart 😅
No kidding. His perception and understanding of motivation is scary.
You can also head cannon that as a vampire its actually beneficial for him to be able to be perceptive and manipulate human emotions to capture his prey easier.
@ToySouljah. I could see that! Though, since we don't see it with most (or, any...?) other vampires, it would be a useful personal trait rather than a generic vampire ability 👍
"Can I be blind too?" - my favorite line in the episode comes from Xander this time around.
Never realized willow’s shirt said “speak no evil” at the end with all the cookies
This is the first time I noticed that too
@@davidmadly Same for me.
D'Hoffrin was in the series before, in the episode Doppelgangland. For a character of such limited screen time, he is really cool.
Oh man. People were saying Pangs was top notch Buffy comedy? This. THIS is top notch Buffy comedy!!* Too many highlights to list, but "How?! What!? How??" "Three very good questions." and "I'm... very tired now" both make me laugh out loud every time.
*and Pangs is too, I love both, just illustrating the point
The saga of William the Bloody and the bath-tub
I guess he doesn't mind torturing, as long as he's not the one being tortured.
@@ronfehr7899 Oh, don't be so sure about that. Dru was a Domme.
An overlooked part of this episode is how Willow was offered reality altering power, something that so far as we know from Anya has seemingly no downside unlike things like vampirism, and she turned it down without even thinking abut it. All she cared about was helping her friends.
Spike may be more observant of others and is able to perceive Willow’s pain. But that doesn’t mean that he cares, or is sympathetic. The only reason he mentions it is to show Buffy and Giles that he notices something they have ignored, and to mock them for it.
Yep he's an emotional manipulator and abuser and very good at both. That requires some degree of high emotional intelligence, but just because he sees it doesn't mean he actually cares. He uses it to get what he wants.
NO no..the doughnuts are the important part. You were correct.
the donuts are clearly the priority here
Even though S4 wasn't one of my favourites overall, it did contain some brilliant stand out episodes of which Something Blue was one. The comedy here is achingly funny, and this episode contains so much foreshadowing for later episodes, you can see in S4 Willow becoming more reliant of magic each time she has a crisis, and that the potential Spuffy relationship is hinted at, but in a comedic way. Hilariously funny when Giles and Buffy use the words impotent and flaccid referring to Spike in the bath. Interesting too that Spike is so much more perceptive of Willow's pain over Oz. Overall a great episode to look back on.
"here's my Talisman, if you change your mind, give me a chant" this episode has so many hilarious lines XD
Cristina Yang taught me to dance when I’m sad too!!
Will we maybe get a Grey's Anatomy watch from Cass?
No one ever mentioned it, but at the end of all this, Willow is wearing a shirt that prominantly says "Speak No Evil" across it, as if to be a visual que that she is not going to try that again.
The next episode is "Hush," one of my favourite episodes and arguably one of the best ones of the show! ❤
Oh my God! I'm so excited.
I so can’t wait 🎉
episodes 7-10 from this season are AMAZING, can’t wait for 4x10, one of the BEST episodes not only in the show, in tv history
Perhaps the only thing that continued the season-long story was seeing Willow's depression starting to fade a bit. It's not totally gone, but at least it made her realize how she was affecting her friends.
I was about to go to bed but watching this felt more important at 2am
Poor Amy. That girl is going to have some serious trauma if she ever gets back to normal.
I do love this episode, it's absolutely hilarious. But the best part about it is that it's the last episode before Hush. ❤
I love how Spike can see how bad willow is. He is very sensitive in a weird way.
babe, it's the way of buffy, it makes us all fall in love with spike, there's no escaping it
*Not me.* 🙋♂
7:11 Spike is my favourite Buffy character, besides Buffy but Buffy was and is my first celebrity crush ever. No spoiler Spike has so much character development for some one the creator wanted to die in the first season they appeared in. 14:50 another Spuffy shipper (yes Buffy and Spikes ship name is Spuffy I have heard people call them Bike but that was the ship name for Buffy and Pike from the 1992 Buffy the vampire slayer movie that is set in an alternate non-canon universe) welcome to the club.
The next ep is my favorite! So excited❤
Trust me we were ALL startled by that scene when it first aired lmmfao
This was, IS an awesome episode. Making people giggle or laugh still to this day. 👍👍
Omg next episode is hush can’t wait 😝
Spike has always been able to read people better than the others, and see beyond the facade. His seeing Willow hanging on by a thread that the rest don't is much like him seeing Buffy and Angel pretending to themselves they were friends, in Lovers Walk.
Thank you Cass, a great reaction to a great episode.
A potential "fun" fact (depending on your idea of fun) - the actor who plays D'hoffryn (the blue demon) Andy Umberger also plays that creepy doctor in "Angel" that could separate his body parts and reattach them at will. He also had a small part in one episode of Whedon's "Firefly"
Yep, Spike can see through Willow's pain better than Buffy or Giles. He's very good at reading people and extremely tuned in to all things romance or longing. He told Buffy and Angel they would never be just friends and he was right (so far anyway). It's always been an integral part of his character in a way.
I love this episode, it's so chaotic and funny 😂
:: snickers :: Aah ... Amy the rat. 2 seconds of being human, and back to being a rat.
Best episode so far of the season ... but the one that follows ... oh boy
Na, there were already plenty good episodes before. Hush might be this seasons best, but the others are great as well
Ok you redeemed yourself from last episode with this one. One of the best reaction of S4 thus far. Loved your reaction to the briefly de-ratted Amy scene. Hilarious.
So you prefer donuts over the spell. Nice. Good to have your priorities.
Oh god, the next episode is the one that still haunts me to this day. The fkn Gentleman, man. I’m very curious to see your reaction.
Next episode is great... But as far as what makes it great... I'll just be quiet.
I see what you did there xD
🤫
Willow's "Speak No Evil" shirt
...😂
I need to know your thoughts on "I Will Remember You" episode of Angel. Were you as devastated as the rest of the world? "Something Blue" is so much fun. The next episode of Buffy is universally agreed upon as the best episode of the show. I'm excited for your reaction to it.
See?!?This is 1 of the reasons I *NEED* some of the"Angel"episodes here on RUclips! You can't just *skip* that one!!😭I mean, you can as long as you don't know the spin-off exists but then...
@Nicamon Exactly!!!!!!! Maybe Cass will compromise by putting up the crossover episodes of Angel on RUclips! Season 1 of Angel is the best season, IMO.
@@mandipandi303none of them are skipped, they’re on Patreon but no angel is coming to RUclips as she’s explained (:
@@Nicamonno worries, nothing was skipped, it’s all posted as she planned, she’s watching the episodes in order following her little guide (:
@@mandipandi303 That's exactly what I'm saying!!! I'm fine not having the _full_ spin-off on RUclips...I don't really like it anyway, but the crossover episodes are usually amazing an also important to complete some pieces of some puzzle(COUGH!COUGH! Spoiler 🤎!COUGH!COUGH!>O
Xander had the best comedic lines in this episode, "How? What? How?" was my personal favorite, but someone below mentioning "Can I be blind too" is my second favorite, and they are both from the same scene. This is a very funny episode, and Buffy's rather easy escape at the end with her spell-induced faux pas with Reilly was great.
You may already have watched it by the time this was posted, but there are a LOT of us awaiting your reaction to the episode coming up!
D'Hoffryn is a vengeance demon. He can't do evil until someone wishes it. So he's nice the rest of the time.
not sure it works that way, Giles thought so in The Wish but Anya quickly corrected him
@@Henrik_Holst Anya was talking about physical strength
@@zarathustrasserpent1850 hard to say for sure, Giles stated: "I'm not afraid of you. Your only power lies in the wishing." to which she simply replied "Wrong!".
The thing that got me about this episode when it first came out was that they used the same actress for Amy. That was pretty cool.
@16:44 the symbol on the book Spike is holding when he is trying to help Giles with his blindness is the same symbol from the Hansel and Gretel episode, that is declared a symbol for protection. Just another example of the attention to detail the show runners of Buffy have.
This is one of my favorite episodes of the series.
Unfortunately I can't say the same. I would like to re-watch it more often to enjoy the fun but the problem is there is *far too much Spuffy* for me to handle!🤮🤮🤮
The cookies were a nice touch. I would totally forgive Willow.

i think that's part of her problem tho. people have always forgiven her too easily. it's no wonder she doesn't take anyone seriously in season six.
I love this episode. Hilarious moments. I need a kiss the librarian mug. Spike in the bathtub and Amy the rat!
Ooh, thanks algorithm! Another Buffy reactor! And yes, Spike has always been very perceptive. He usually uses it for evil purposes though, like spotting people’s weaknesses/sore points and manipulating them accordingly.
Oh my God! I just realized the shirt Willow is wearing says "speak no evil!"
This whole episode is iconic
Can't wait till Hush, it's one of the best episode ever I feel.
Spike's comments about Willow could've easily come from Cordelia. Spiuke's role is gradually changing.
Yeah but Spike was always empathic about this kind of stuff even in season 2/3
Can I be blind too? - Yes, Xander, right there with you!
Giles is Buffy’s father the same way Superman is human: in every way that matters.
Cass looking absolutely amazing and simply sensational with the lipstick, as well as the lighting improvement. You sparkle and shine, if you don't mind me saying so.💜
I've been really looking forward to this episode! Spike is absolutely my favourite character and even when this episode first aired when I was I think about 12-ish years old, I absolutely already shipped Spike and Buffy, of course helped by James' outstanding performance and charm. Loads of people dislike season 4, but I think this season has some of the best individual episodes of the series - the last two and the next one being top of that list. I'm really looking forward to the next episode!
One of my favorite episodes from season 4. I was sad to hear that the Anya actress (Emma Caufield) has been struggling with MS. I think the story came out a few weeks ago.
Cass, Amy turned herself into a rat in episode 3x11 | "Gingerbread", 21 episodes ago.
Go Team Riley Buffy u have a human man at last make it work Girl P.S still miss Angel
Very good reaction video. I am impressed how you are assessing the episodes, the story development, and the characters interactions and behaviors. I recall your early reactions and you were viewing BTVS like other shows with expectations generated from other supernatural programs. Now you are understanding the pacing and the character development. This show has many themes and tones going on in a single episode as well as individual scenes. For instance you were listening to all of the conversation Buffy and Willow has in the cemetery. It is not just about the now but also the first mature real look into motivation of companionship and the sexual tension mixed with lack of self. Willow is asking how to avoid the pain while Buffy is trying to grow from pain. Buffy has killed the man she loved, rekindled their love, kept him from killing her and then suicide, having him reject her and breakup, then risking her life ( at the brink) to save his life, and then watch as he leaves her without telling her goodbye ans thanks for allowing me to save myself by measly killing you. Buffy has learned that the heartbreak makes her stronger and allows her growth Willow is cowardly trying to avoid the pain of life . There can be no new growth of being, just escape.
"How? What? How?"
the other episode was funny and this one ,spike is the comedy of the show ( for me ).
Both Pangs and Something Blue are excellent uses of the double meanings of words in the titles. Pangs being both starvation and loss of love. While Something Blue is about depression and wedding gifts.
Cassie secretly dying inside when Spike kisses Buffy
Spike is amazing. Accept it
I accept it,but I still hate him.
One of my all time faves of this season
26:42 here's hoping
Butcher Shops has animal blood.
Spuffy, thought to be nothing more than a fanfiction possibility until this episode aired.
Lmao Buffy really just gaslit the fuck out of Riley there
That's not what that phrase means... she just lied...that's all...
@@havok6280 gaslighting is literally treating someone like theyre crazy when they confront you with truth
@@reyr6868 she didn't treat him like he was crazy. She lied that she was joking.
Gaslighting would be pretending she didn't say it in the first place.
@@reyr6868 you mean figuratively. Literally would me turning down a gas light.
Gaslighting is a colloquialism, loosely defined as manipulating someone into questioning their own perception of reality.
@@havok6280 dont gaslight me bro😅
I love red lipstick on you. But as someone who always wears red, I'm biased lol
Also this is such a great episode so excited to watch your reaction
You think that Buffy is going to have a fling with the remorseless, compassionless, serial killing child murderer Spike? Quite the prediction lol
Often people on the "outside" (like Spike) can see things clearer than those closer to the people. I'd only met my cousin's fiancé twice and I thought he was an arsehole, other family members thought he was great. Lo and behold, he cheated on her and I was proven correct.
Sorry to hear about your cousin 😢
@@davidterhune8277 It's alright, she met someone better and she's now married with a child.
My brother's ex-wife cheated on him. A few months after the divorce he met a great woman and they've been together for over 20 years now!
Good things can come out of bad situations.
It's not that Spike can't "bring" himself to hurt and kill human beings. You make it sound like he is thinking- "Oh I can't do that. That's evil and horrible. I would be profoundly hurting someone. Ripping someone's life away. From them. Their family. Their friends." That's not the case. Spike is an evil, soulless, creature. This is extremely evident when you stop and think about it for a second.
Spike is starving. He needs blood. He can get blood. The world is in abundance of it. Butcher shops, hospitals, etc. That alternative doesn't even enter his brain and despite the goofiness that the TV show often portrays Spike in, Spike isn't stupid. The only way Spike thinks he can get blood is by stalking, killing, and drinking a human being. Human beings aren't equals to cooperate with. They are food to play with and feed on.
Whenever he attempts to hurt someone his brain is immediately shocked with searing, agonizing, pain. He is rendered incapacitated as a result of the pain. He hasn't been programmed not to hurt people.
Spike is my favorite character. I have thought about him and his character an extreme amount. It's super important to me that people understand his character correctly.
@cassreacts just a heads up, there is a bot impersonating you in the comments.
hush HUSH
As you "low-key shipped" Buffy and Spike, I was surprised by your mildly disgusted reaction to their first kiss 😂
What is it with people who consider Angel to have been such an inappropriate partner instead want Spike to fulfill that role? The inconsistencies are glaring. It's so boringly predictable.
Hope its ok to say, but you look stunning today (not that you dont normally) but today especially. not sure, maybe the lipstick just is perfect for you. anyway, had to say it.
Buffys endgame
Made you look😂😂
Spike understands heartache because William understood heartache. He was able to retain his romantic outlook despite not having a soul.
Spoilery.
Hey did you hear the part when buffy said to willow she visited angel in LA? Did you like that angel episode the final bangel performance?
And that was the episode that changed everything forever. And they didn't even know that.
The way he looks at Buffy when he proposes to her, like she is the most precious thing he's ever had in his life and he is indeed the happiest man on Earth, and you expect me not to ship this. Besides how good they look together
Yes, yes, poor Willow.
No-one seems to pick up - especially in these earlier seasons, that anytime Willow is upset, she resorts to magic - and often times magic to be cast on someone without their consent or knowledge.
It’s like everytime Willow is unhappy, she either roofies or out-right poisons them.
Under that quirky, socially-awkward-yet-sweet outer layer is a deeply, deeply twisted person.
02:57 - 03:00 I would have said:"It's gonna be a Willow episode?!?😍❤...Ugh!Spike!What do you want?!?😒GTFO!😠💢" 03:28 - 03:33 🥺🥺🥺🥺💔💔💔💔
07:40 - 07:56 😭😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔💔 11:04 - 11:14 This reminds me of"Dopplegangland"when she complained about everyone always wanting something from her and never giving her a break.Poor thing!🥺💔 11:26 - 11:29 Classic.🤦♂Pretty much like when Xander wanted to make Cordy fall in love with him and instead he(Amy)made _every other female in town_ fall in love with him.(Which..now that I think about it..may have been because Cordy was _already_ in love with him so the spell was useless on her?!😱I mean..she broke up with him because of her bitchy friends, not because she stopped having feelings for him!!💜💙)
12:33 - 13:09 THE reaction I was waiting *THE MOST* from YOU specifically!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
13:09 - 13:12 _She's never anyone's priority!!!!_ 😭💔 This thing drives me *CRAZY!!!!!* 😡💢

24:21 - 24:23 Why the inverted commas?He's not a"bad boy",he's a bad boy,period. He *IS* bad!😠💢
Once we heard Willow saying that Buffy and Spike's should just get married, we knew exactly what was going to happen next. And mn was it hilarious!! 😅😅😅😂😂😂
If I'm not mistaken, Willow's spell merely commanded them to marry.
I don't think there was a requirement for non-stop face sucking...What's up with that?
I'm picturing the phone call between the actress playing Amy and her agent about a 4 second role.
It let them be uninhibited with each other. My guess (even with prior knowledge) is that they are attracted, but also repulsed with each other. Take away the repulsion? Tah-Da! Make-out city.
Legend has it that shooting that scene happened to fall on Elizabeth Anne Allen's (Amy's) birthday.
It's just funnier.
I think Buffy and Spike, while under the Will it So spell, must have felt some sort of growing affection for each other. I mean the idea of being engaged alone could turn a person's feelings around a little ... but yet they were both taking digs at each other with their respective exes. So it's hard to say either way.
Usually in fiction magic when there's marriage the love is implied although, realistically,it's not always the case. BTW when Willow formulated the spell she _was_ implying that Buffy liked Spike so I take that as a sign that her feelings _were_ part of the spell itself.Basically the spell was:"Make Buffy like Spike enough that she wants to marry him."
Spoiler - Buffy has no endgame.
She has a brief time with Angel again, long into the future, then dies alone.
😂 I love this episode. Welcome to the Spuffyverse.
Spike could never love buffy

No, Spike is still a piece of crap, and the fact that he has a restraining bolt now doesn't change it.
Yes, he is perceptive. The most dangerous villains are very perceptive. The Mayor, for example, had quite a good grasp of how humans work.
He is a piece of crap, but he's much more empathetic than the vast majority of vampires.
@@stainedglasspixie I won't say empathetic. Empathy, I think, is more about feeling what others feel. Spike understands people, he doesn't share their feelings.
@@stainedglasspixie Funny how most of the fandom whenever I complain about him not acting souless enough gives me the:"He doesn't feel empathy."speech. I'm like:"Dude...are we talking about the same guy?Have you seen the previous episodes?🤨🤦♂"
