      You're welcome, I really like this microphone, I got this really Nice small shock mount for it that was only like 12 bucks and I'll tell you what if you're using this as an XLR microphone and you throw it in a different shock mount this thing is really good for the price. I think if you get the signature series it comes with a smaller shock mount, not sure if it's heavier or not but. I just don't know why they never gave us a headphone jack for zero latency monitoring and I don't like to shock mount system but if you can get over those things it's a great microphone

    I just got this microphone. When using the usb mode, I experience virtually no latency when audio monitoring. Maybe it’s because of the computer I’m using. I use an M1 Pro mac book pro. USB monitoring playback is virtually instantaneous for me

      That's interesting, I use a Windows computer and pretty much everybody I've ever spoken to on a Windows computer has a latency issue so it may be the difference between Mac and Windows, honestly if the only thing I were doing was audio work I would probably get end up getting some sort of Apple computer. But since I do gaming and all kinds of other stuff as well I'm kind of stuck with a PC. But Windows does have all kinds of crazy audio drivers going on and what not so I never really thought about it but I'm not surprised to hear that honestly more than likely Mac is much better for audio and video editing

      Same for me, I have the M2 MAC book and it plays back fine.

      How do you monitoring it. I'm not going to podcast or stream, so I just installed Rode Central, plugged my headphones into the headphone jack on my Mac, but no sound comes out. Do I also need to install Rode Connect to hear my voice? How do you do this with almost no delay?

    Would you recommend it for gaming/streaming setup?
    I am looking for a top notch mic for video calls and streaming gameplay too.

      If your room is not really reverby as it is a condenser mic but here is a live gaming stream I just did with this and I think it sounds great ruclips.net/user/live4SWerLapTG0?feature=share
      I also just did a video comparing it to some much more expensive microphones. On XLR it's really a great sounding mic . Almost as good on us.

    Yes, I have NT1 5th and agree with you about problems. I think this is "demo" mic - Rode wanted to try do an USB microphone with new Revolution preamps and "forgot" about headphones output and physical input control. Podmic USB has all of them and it is much comfortable to use than NT1. Maybe 6th generation of NT1 will be also "completed"? ;)

    • @dannylightning-audio-reviews
      @dannylightning-audio-reviews  Год назад

      I almost guarantee you they will make a 6th generation with the headphone output I mean I don't really use USB microphones anyways but there may come a day where i'm like hey I'm going to have to record without an audio interface I want a really nice sounding microphone and this would have been perfect for that if they just put on hey headphone jack for a zero latency monitoring but I do really like the sound quality, it's a little bit bright I guess but not overly bright seems to be plenty detailed and just have a nice well-rounded sound, but man why couldn't they give us a headphone jack and a lighter weight shock amount I mean did that shock not really need the way like 30 lb LOL I mean I know it's not that heavy but it's pretty heavy, I end up buying this little teeny bows and shock mount that weighs like nothing and actually does a better job at reducing vibrations

      If you just get rid of the Rodes software and instead use VoiceMeeter as your software mixer for the mic, you can still get lower latency monitoring.

      Thanks. however i find voice meter changes the sound of your audio slightly in a way that i did not like, i played around with vicemeter for a while and did not care for the way things sounded.@@ReallyNS

    How is compared with Elgato wave 3?

    • @dannylightning-audio-reviews
      @dannylightning-audio-reviews  3 месяца назад +1

      The wave 3 is a nice USB microphone and has a small capsule made by Lewitt which is cool but the NT1 would be my choice, I put my NT1 in a tiny lightweight shock mount and I'm pretty happy with it. A lot of professional voice actors have started out with the NT1. I think they both sound good

    • @criticactual
      @criticactual 3 месяца назад

      @@dannylightning-audio-reviews thanks. But for your words, NT1 5 IS better in sound quality?

    • @dannylightning-audio-reviews
      @dannylightning-audio-reviews  3 месяца назад

      Has a larger capsule and a more natural sound that would say, and it's an XLR microphone which means you're not trying to shove the entire audio interface until a little teeny microphone body, now you can get the NT1 and XLR / USB if you buy the 5th generation or you can get XLR only if you buy the signature which is only like 160 bucks. Even on a high quality XLR / USB microphone like the NT1 that has really good preamp shoved into it it still sounds a little better when you're using it on XLR through an audio interface compared to using the built-in interface
      Now at the wave I believe that one is XLR only so you're stuck only being able to use the audio interface that's built into that microphone, I definitely wouldn't say the preamps and converters. Are going to be as good but I do believe you can plug a set of headphones into the wave to monitor your audio which is the one thing they didn't give us on the USB 5th generation
      I mean if you're using a microphone on XLR you're going to be monitoring it through the interface but on a USB microphone there really should be a headphone jack
      Now each microphone is going to sound different, which one you like the sound of better maybe personal preference,
      I will put it this way you'll probably never see a wave microphone in somebody's home recording studio that's doing any serious audio recording, even though it sounds good and it does sound good on a lot of people's voices it's definitely not a 100% pro quality microphone
      You will see the NT1 in some professional recordings studios or a lot of smaller or home studios as it's more of a professional quality microphone
      I think the main thing you need to think about when choosing between these is do I want a USB microphone, a XLR microphone, or one that has both
      The next thing you want to think about is how many reviews have I watched for each one and which one seems to sound better on the most voices
      Everybody has different room acoustics and everybody has a different voice and it all plays a part on which microphone might sound better
      A friend of mine has the way of mic and I think it's a great microphone it definitely wouldn't be my first choice and I would choose the NT1 any day but one of these days I am going to pick one of those up so I can use it for comparisons but I have got to use my friends and I hear him speak through it all the time and it sounds great I mean it does sound very very good
      I honestly don't think either one's going to be a bad choice, I guess you just got to figure out what features you need and which one you think sounds the best
      Think the NT1 gives you a slightly more natural sound, I think the wave kind of has that more finished sound to it where they tried to EQ at the sound a certain way which I don't really love, I'd rather have a microphone that has more of a flat DQ response and then if I want to add a little more base or treble I can do that myself, I'd rather have a flatter frequency response compared to something that really boost the heck out of the high end or boost the heck out of the low end or something
      Now the new NT1 does have a bit of a high boost, it beats the highs by a couple of decibels and the rest of the frequency you respond is pretty flat. For the wave I've never been able to find a proper frequency response chart but to me it sounds like they've tried to give it a finished sound so they probably boosted or reduced or moved a few frequencies around.
      Sorry I'm kind of a big microphone nerd lol. I really think they're both great but I would really be looking at the features you're getting and then use your ears by listening to a lot of reviews. Unless you just happen to get one that doesn't fit your voice most people would probably be happy with the way either one sounds
      Watch the pretty interesting experiment ones where they took three people, a dirt cheap microphone a $200 microphone and a $1,200 microphone and the super cheap one sounded great for one of the people and the $1,200 one sounded pretty bad on his voice but the other two people the $1,200 ones send it way better and the cheap one didn't sound very good for them so there's always those weird cases where a specific voice may not love a specific microphone

    No one will use it for traveling or outside .

      There are a lot of voice actors out there who need to record gigs when traveling and a lot of them were actually pretty excited about this microphone until they realized there was no headphone jack, honestly they're probably would be people using it for traveling and I think they lost on a lot of sales not adding the headphone jack for proper monitoring

    Vs podmic...is it Big difference?

    • @dannylightning-audio-reviews
      @dannylightning-audio-reviews  Год назад

      They will defiantly sound different i think the nt1 sounds more natural, detailed and lively, one is a condenser and one is dynamic, condensers often pick up more detail, i don't have a pod mic to compare them for you, i have never liked the pod mic on my voice, the pod mic is nice over all tho..
